3 Chapter One: Back to School

To think I haven't walked these halls in two years. Yet the smell of food and the cacophony of the lunch room is still as over whelming as ever. I used to hate these walls, now I find myself lost in memories of a life gone by.

"Ad?" Comes a voice from my past drawing me from my thoughts.

Blinking myself back into now I see a face that I will never forget even after a hundred lifetimes, "Jason!" I say as a smile cracks my marble face.

Jason's dark skin was complimented by his green eyes and almost auburn hair. At almost six feet tall and weighing in at two hundred pounds of muscle, it's a mystery as to why he decided not to join the football team.

"I see you haven't changed a bit! Your still as pale as ever! You sure your not a ginger?" Jason asks as he smacks my back leading me into the cafeteria.

"Yes, Jason, I'm sure. You know damn well I'm not." I say with a smile as we fall back into the same pattern of talking, as if we only spoke yesterday, not two years go.

"So, Ad, tell me what I missed I'll buy breakfast." Jason says as he guides me through the crowd of people, "Last I heard you where up north, what brings you back to this lame city?"

Grabbing a tray I smile and say, "Don't know what I'm doing back, all I know is I was called back here by some unknown force." I lean in and whisper, "I have been having dreams of a dark cloud building over the city Jason. I think something is coming."

Grabbing food at random Jason's eyes flash with memories of the Old War. "Tell me honest Alex, is it as bad as it feels?"

"I fear it is"

Almost as fast as it came, the dark cloud over Jason's usual bright smile vanishes. "Well, we can't fight on an empty stomach, besides, it's not just me and you this time."

"Oh?" I ask cocking a eyebrow.

"While you were gone I found a few friends. Some second gens, they are young but strong." He says tossing his head to the side referring to the table at the end of the room were only four people sat talking amongst themselves, "Come, I'll introduce you."

"I'll have to meet them later, I have to get my schedule." I say as I set my tray down on a trash can.

Jason looks at me with a pensive gaze as I walk away from him and towards the school office. I always hated this part of the charade we Immortals play. But when you look like you belong in high-school that's what you have to do.

Even with my silver hair and marble skin, I still look like I'm only nineteen, it is a curse and a blessing. As I ready myself to go through this gauntlet of questions and prepare myself to play the student I walk through the doors to the office.
