15 Leaving Forever
All kinds of doctors come running into the room.
Alice stands there in shock, not being able to digest everything that just happened.
She prayed and prayed for it to be a nightmare.
Please, dad. Let this be a joke. She says, crying.
One of the doctors, which Alice thinks was his friend, tries to do CPR as fast as he could go, but it still didn't work.
Dad still didn't wake up.
He picks up the defibrillator.
" One hundred and fifty joules. Charge. Clear. Shoot." He says, but Alice's father didn't wake up.
He does it again, hoping it would work, but it was too late, and he knew it, but he was hoping for if there was a god to make this a miracle and to wake him up. To wake his friend up again so that they could be happy and forget about the painful moments.
After losing hope, he puts down the defibrillator and slowly walks back.
In a low voice, he says
"Jonathan William death at 04:49, eight of February 2021. Born on the first of July 1975." He says and looks at Alice with pain and pity in his eyes.
Alice wasn't moving. It was like she was frozen.
Mr Lee goes to her and puts her in his embrace.
It was his way of comforting her.
NO!.... NOO! It can't be true. Let me go! She fights him all she could.
He is not! she creams weak, shaking her head.
Mr Lee was holding her tightly with sympathy.
Alice became pale and half-unconscious. She did not know what she was doing at all.
How could this happen? He was just talking to me.
He was just laughing, scolding and making jokes.
Her gaze was at her father, who was lying on the bed.
She was hopeless. Everything around her came to an end.
There was nothing she wished for more than her father to come back.
Mr Lee suggested that she should call her mom and tell her everything, but he saw that she wasn't in her right mind.
He picks up his phone and calls her himself.
" Why did you call me? What is your business with me" says Elizabeth.
Good afternoon Elizabeth, I have important news to tell you.
"So?" says Elizabeth, annoyed.
She already had too much on her head. Why would this person call her at this moment?
Lee stays quiet for a second, doubting if he should tell her or not.
I am sorry to inform you that your husband has passed away, and your daughter's condition is not so good. Right now.
I would appreciate it if you could come. Your daughter needs you.
That is what your husband would want to, he says in a low voice.
Elizabeth doesn't say anything for a while, and then Mr Lee asks if she is still there.
"I don't have any business to do with them anymore," she says with a trembling voice and then she hangs up the phone with Mr Lee.
Lee looks in disbelief at Alice, trying to think about what to do next.
** A few hours later*
Jonathan's body got taken to a morgue.
Alice was left alone in the room, and after a while, the nurse that came in the room saw that Alice's phone was going off the whole time and that she was not picking.
The nurse goes to Alice and tabs her on her shoulder.
"Ma'am, someone has been calling you for a while now. Shall I answer the phone call for you?" the nurse asks her, but Alice doesn't answer her.
The nurse looks at Alice, understanding what she must be going through. She picks up the call, thinking that it must be one of her family or her friends.
Before the nurse could say something, someone started talking on the other side.
"Alice! What happened to you? Is something wrong? Why didn't you pick up my calls? I have been calling you for so long," says the other person.
Hello, Are you Alice's family? asks the nurse.
"Who is this? Why are you answering her phone? Did something happen to her?"
Sir, calm down. I am a nurse, and Alice is not stable now. Can you come and pick her up?
"Yes, I am on my way!" and he hung up the call in a rush.
After a few minutes, a girl and a boy come running into the hospital.
They go straight to the reception and ask where they can find Alice and her father.
The woman by the reception tells them that they are on floor 2, and before she could tell them in what room, they already ran to the elevator.
After a while, Alice hears people running towards her.
"What happened, Alice? Is everything ok? Why are you on the ground?" a boy and a girl say to her.
Alice recognises their voice and looks up.
When she sees Mia's face, she begins to cry.
Mia goes to her and hugs her while caressing her back and shushes her.
"Girl, what happened? Where is your father?"
Upon that question, Alice begins to cry even louder.
Mia looks at Ryan, hoping it is not what they were thinking.
Dad, He.... left... me...
He left this world, Mia.
He is gone. He left me behind.
He.... He didn't take me with him, Alice says while stumbling on her words.
Mia and Ryan both stays shook in their places. They didn't know how to comfort her. They knew how much she loved her father.
The only thing they could do was to be by her side now.
Mia hugs Alice even tighter and cries with her.
She knew the feeling of losing something or someone.
"I am sorry for what happened, but now is not the time for you to be like this. You know your father wouldn't want to see you like this.
This is the moment that you have to stay strong. I know it is hard, but you have to move on. God is like this. He takes some people away and lets some stay, but that doesn't mean they won't leave us, either. Sometimes things happen even if you don't want them to happen. Some hurt like a knife is in your heart, and some we can move on from them. You don't have to do it alone. Ryan and I are always here for you. We will stay by your side until you feel like you can do it alone," says Mia in the best way she could.
Alice looks up and looks at Mia and Ryan.
They give her a reassuring smile.
She didn't know how she deserved these two precious friends. Maybe god wasn't that selfish after all.
"Come on! Stand up now. We have so much to do," says Mia.
Alice tries to stand up, but her body felt too heavy.
It was too much for me to bear. Everything seemed so dark.
What is happening to me?
Everything around her was spinning, and then she fell to the ground, darkness overtaking her.
"Alice!.... Alice!!! Please, wake up. Ryan, call someone! Don't just stand there." says mia to Ryan.
"Uhh... I am sorry." and Ryan runs to one of the nurses and tells them to come.
The nurse comes to Alice and looks at her.
She opens one of her eyes and shines a bright light on it.
"She is fine. She is unconscious because of low blood pressure. I will give her an injection to increase her blood pressure.
It is probably because of the shock.
She should be fine after that," says the nurse.
Ryan and Mia let out their breath they didn't know they were holding in.
They look at the nurse asking for help and putting Alice on a bed.
It was too much for me to bear. Everything seemed so dark.
My head is spinning. What is happening to me?
Elizabeth's Pov:
She slowly puts her phone down after ending the call.
How could this happen?
How could he leave me?
Crying, Elizabeth falls to the ground, her body feeling weak.
She weeps and weeps for the loss of the person she loved more than herself.
For the person, she left everything behind.
For the person she did things for, she wouldn't have done for others.
He left her, and this time, he wasn't coming back.
