15 Jealousy

Warning: Curse/Profanity

Robbie's POV

"Sir Miss Sarah wants to meet you," My assistant, Jane said

Sarah is my childhood friend. I was with her till middle school but after I transferred we didn't have much contact. Then I heard from one of my old schoolmates that she left the country for higher studies. She suddenly reappeared last year and to my surprise, my father decided on our marriage without my consent. I refused it even before our engagement date was set but my father did not budge. He thinks if she clings to me long enough she will be able to win me over. If that had to happen, it would have by now. It has been a year already!! I just think of her as a friend, but she is not ready to accept that. She keeps calling herself my fiancee! No matter what I say, what I do, she is just not ready to give up. What a pest!!

"Tell her am busy," I said, irritably.

"Why don't you tell me that yourself?" Sarah said, suddenly appearing in front of my office door.

She was a very beautiful lady with long wavy brown hair, black eyes, a pretty oval face, and a curvy built. Not only was she beautiful but was an excellent businesswoman. She has astute business sense and has been taking care of her father's import-export business along with her own line of cosmetics, all on her own. There are many suitors who are willing to lay down their lives for her, but for some reason, she wants to marry me only as if all the other men in this world have evaporated.

"I have no time for you! Leave" I said, curtly

"How rude!" she exclaimed, barging in like she owns the place, "How can you be busy with just one project?"

"This project is not the only responsibility I have. I have to take care of other properties as well" I said, feeling nettled by her intrusion.

"I can help you," she said, with a radiant smile, "I am not bad with business matters you know"

"Every company has its business secrets that can't be revealed especially to a 'stranger'," I said, emphasizing the last word.

"I am your fiancee..." she started

"Was my fiancee!! I broke the engagement. We have nothing to do with each any longer" I interjected, harshly

"Ouch! That hurts," Sarah said, rolling her eyes.

We both were glaring at each other when a loud 'Rrrrrrriiiiinnngggg' of the phone interrupted us.

Both of us were startled. It was the office phone. I picked up while Sarah stood beside me arms crossed.

The one on the phone turned out to be my assistant that I allotted to guard over Tony and my son from the shadows. I know it was sort of stalking but I was too scared to lose him after searching him over for the last five years. I acted like a jerk and now I am paying for my impulsive and inexcusable actions. I asked the guard to not take any action unless they are in danger. I nearly lost my cool when I heard him and his son packing their bags and driving away. I asked him to follow them.

Please don't leave me, Tony!!

I will do whatever it takes to make it up for all my horrible actions.

I was feeling apprehensive as I asked, "What is it?"

"Sir, Tony Hawker, and his son came to La Costa Beach"

"La Costa? That's nearly in the outskirts of the city!" I said, feeling my heart dropping to my stomach.

They are seriously leaving?

Do I have to live all my life regretting my actions!!

I think it was my hyper reaction that drew Sarah's attention who was looked at me with narrowed eyes

"It seems he came to meet an acquaintance" the guard replied in a monotone.

"Acquaintance? Who?" I asked, a little surprised

Tony was reserved by nature and hardly made any friends. As far as I knew, in Warham, Tony has three close acquaintances, Samuel, Tanya, and Jenny. Back in Guyana city, he had no friends and his family disowned him, the only people he was close to were the warden of his welfare center, Priya, the owner of the departmental store he used to work in, Kendrick and the pastor of the church he used to visit. I wondered who other than them does he knew!

Was it any of his relatives? I can't help remembering the day when I first saw Tony's siblings. He had a younger brother and sister, both of who are Beta. During his high school, he tried meeting them, when they were going to school but was snubbed by his dad, who scolded him in the middle of the street saying that his brother and sister don't need a slut as their older brother.

I was deeply shocked to see his dad's reaction. I too have problems with my dad. I, at times, don't agree with him and he too sees Omega as cheap gold diggers but he would rather, try to separate me from the omega and make their life miserable than mine. I had never seen this side of the society where parents treated their kids with such cruelty just because of a petty thing like sub-gender. I was stunned to hear him call his own son a 'slut' and treat him with such indifference. Later, I learned that it was quite common among Omegas to be disowned. I remember feeling pity for Omegas and Tony.

That day, Tony cried for hours. I was a pampered kid and had no idea how to console. So, I just hugged him and let him cry his heart out. Even after seeing all this, I feel astonished that I ended up treating him just as cruelly. Sometimes people can really turn so selfish.

"I will send you the pictures sir," the assistant said

"Alright" I replied, hanging the call

Within a few seconds, after I kept my phone, my cellphone beeped. I picked it up and saw the picture of Tony being hugged by another guy. He was a tall, tanned, ginger-haired guy with quite a big built. There were other pictures of him eating with Tony and my son. They looked very comfortable with each other. Tony looked happy in his presence. In one of the pictures, the guy was looking at Tony like he was looking at the sunshine of his life. I felt my hand grip the cell phone tightly and a strong pang in my heart. My blood started pumping fast.

Who was this guy?

Why were Tony and him so comfortable?

How do they even know each other?

My mind was racing with so many questions when,

"Who are they?" I heard a female voice ask very close to my ear

"Sarah" I almost jumped in shock. I had completely forgotten she was in the room. I quickly put my cell phone back in my pocket.

"Why are you acting like you have seen a ghost?" Sarah asked, displeased by my reaction and suspicion swirling in her eyes

"Nothing. Just leave already. I am busy" I told her, getting back to my laptop, but I kept thinking about the pictures.

"Who was that person? Why do you have his picture?" she kept pushing

I raised my eyes, looking at her sharply, "None of your business!!"

She glowered at me for a minute before turning and stomping out of the office.
