Chapter 27

Lisa's POV

For the past two hours after eating, we've done nothing but bike around the city and take a couple of minutes to rest in between. Everyone else was probably in deep slumber already while I didn't even feel tired at all. Rosé called me that she'll be at Irene to wait for me and probably she was snoring now.

It's already late but i was still so energized and I could go on and on for hours.

"I think the guards have stopped looking for us," Jennie said, hoping back on her bike as we looked for a new place to go. "We can just sneak the bikes back in there before morning and no one would even notice."

I shook my head and chuckled. "You know what, Jennie? You don't look like the mischievous type at all."

"What do I look like then?" she asked, her eyes glimmering in wonder.

I leisurely biked beside her in the middle of the road while glancing at her from time to time. "You look like a precious princess who's been living within the four walls of her castle her whole life, and then finally, you get the opportunity to escape and actually live for the very first time."

"Wow," she brought her feet to the ground, stopping the bicycle from moving. "That's not normally how people would describe me."

"Really? What do they usually say?"

Jennie shrugged. "They say I seem shy and innocent."

"Ha," I snickered, pulling my hat lower to cover my ears. It was starting to get really cold. "I've only known you for two days and I already highly doubt that."

"How so?"

"Well, I'm positive you're not shy at all," I smirked. "By the way you talked to me and approached me for the first time, including all the things you told me, I gotta say you've got some balls. . .for a lack of a better term. And for the innocent part, that's one thing I have yet to discover."

I watched in amusement as her cheeks turned from pale to pink. She blushed and stepped back onto the pedal. "Sometimes you just have to go for what your heart tells you to do, no matter what the ending may be."

"What is our ending, then?" I probed.

"Oh, Lisa," she smiled, coaxing me to follow her with my bike. "We've only just begun."

We rode our bikes all the way to the end of a street we didn't even recognize. She got what she wanted. We did get lost in the city, and I wasn't even complaining one bit.

I had to question myself several times why I was doing this. I liked girls, but as far as i know i was never this friendly. I believe wasn't the type who would just go with any girl who'd throw herself at me. But Jennie was different. Not that she threw herself at me or anything, but she was really forward in a way that was making me want more without even knowing exactly why.

I kept telling myself that I just met her two nights ago, and now I'm roaming around the city with her at five in the morning.

"What are you thinking of doing this time?" I asked as Jennie parked her bicycle in front of a tall building.

"Come with me and you'll see," she smiled, holding out her hand to me.

I didn't even hesitate to take her hand in mine and see where she was going to take me. I even wiped my hands in my pants because I felt like it was getting really sweaty. As of this moment, I had no idea what was happening anymore.

I felt my body shudder the moment our hands touched. I pulled back for a second, but grasped her hand tightly before she could even react. Her smile widened as she pulled me behind her back.

We were going up this black, steel staircase outside the building, which looked like the fire exit if I'm not mistaken.

"So you're thinking of stealing something else aside from bicycles?" I teased.

"I am not," she laughed. Her brown hair bounced on her shoulders as she eagerly ran up the stairs.

When we got to the top, Jennie reached up to a ladder that was hanging from the top of the building.

"Need some help going up there?" I asked. I don't know why at this point I still wasn't letting go of her hand.

Jennie casually flipped her hair to one side of her shoulder and gave me a confident grin. "I can do it."

I was surprised to see her climb all the way up to the rooftop without pausing. When she got to the top, she peeked down and gave me a thumbs up. "You okay there?"

"Uh, y-yeah I'm going up," I stammered

When I got to the top, I was surprised to see a completely empty roof with nothing but a little chimney in the middle. Jennie walked to the middle and comfortably sat down. She patted the space next to her, motioning for me to follow.

"Have you ever stayed up until the this hours of the morning just to watch the sunrise from the rooftop?" she asked, leaning against her arms that were crossed behind her head. We were both lying flat on our backs, staring up at the sky.

"Yeah," I nodded. "That sight alone is priceless."

She giggled softly and bit her lip in amazement. She was just staring at me like as if she was trying to figure me out. I think I was doing just the same. This was the first time I actually had the chance to stare at her features.

She had light brown mole just below her left eyebrow. Her skin was so light and soft, like as if it hasn't been exposed that much. Her hair looked naturally brown and soft and I wanted to just run my fingers through it. I can't believe i can tell how she looks like.

"Lisa?" she whispered.

"Yes?" I swallowed.

"Why are you out here with me?" she asked. She looked like she was about to cry.

I moved closer to her, but still making sure I didn't get too cozy. "What do you mean?"

"I still don't know why you're here with me right now," she weakly smiled. "I thought I was never going to see you. I thought I was going to have to try to move on from you for the rest of my life. I thought I was going to have to keep pretending we didn't happen. And then you just came without any warning, stealing my heart for the second time without even trying."

I looked at the girl in front of me who was practically confessing her feelings for me right then and there. Two days ago I thought it was just going to be my stories and me for a long period of time. I was content with it. I felt like I was already living the lives of the characters I wrote.

Now all of a sudden, someone like Jennie comes into my life and changes everything in mere seconds.

Everything was happening to fast. I didn't understand any of it. But I knew I didn't have to understand it in order to like it. This was all so unlike me. Sure, I loved adventure, but I always believe adventures or beautiful experiences didn't require companions.

I was a firm believer that happiness shouldn't depend on other people. I think everyone should be happy with themselves, whether they have ten best friends or none at all.

Jennie,I didn't know if I liked her yet, but I knew I wanted to know more about her. Being with her was like unraveling more secrets about myself.

"You're going to say something, right?" she chuckled softly. There was a slight tone of embarrassment in her voice, like as if she wanted to take back what she just told me.

"Sorry, I fell into deep thought," I blinked. I looked away from her and shifted my gaze back up at the dark clouds. I didn't even feel a tiny bit sleepy.

I cleared my throat as I tried to find the right words to say. "Jennie, I wish I could change that."

"Change what?"

"Change what you're going through," I said. "I wish I could live your dreams to know what you're talking about."

"Lisa," she murmured. "You're already living it with me. You've been turning my dreams into reality the moment I set my eyes on you."

I didn't say anything. I just moved my hand a few inches closer to her and took her hand back in mine. I didn't know what I wanted with her, but I was determined to find out.

"Jennie?" I finally said after a few minutes of complete silence.

"Yes?"

"Write our love story with me," I breathed out, staring deep into her eyes.

"Well?" I paused, staring at Jennie who looked quite flabbergasted at the moment. "Do you have anything to say?"

Jennie gazed at me for a while. Seconds later, her lower lip started to tremble, making her mouth form into a cute little pout. She looked like she wanted to burst into tears but she was just holding everything in.

"oh" I quickly got up, sitting beside her body, which was lying sideways on the ground. "Are you okay?"

She shook her head and sniffed, looking quite embarrassed. "I'm just a bit overwhelmed, that's all. I didn't expect you to be this open towards the whole thing."

"So... is that a yes?" I raised an eyebrow. "Look, I'll admit I'm a bit proud when it comes to everything i did. I don't like asking anybody for help because I like everything to be solely my idea. But this time I know I need you to help me."

"What makes you think that I will even do a good job at it?" she started to ramble. "I'm not really a writer. The only things I write are boring emails for work. I might just end up ruining – "

"Something tells me you're the missing piece in this puzzle that I've been trying to figure out," I interrupted her cute little babble by placing my finger over her soft lips. "I can't explain it, but it's a good feeling."

Her cheeks turned pink as she slowly pushed herself up the ground, crossing her legs next to me. There were so many things I noticed about this girl, aside from her odd spontaneity. She looked fragile and vulnerable, but it's like you could see her fighting to change for the better – and I liked it.

"Okay..." she slowly nodded. It was very clear that she was fighting back tears. "Um, s-so I will literally write it with you?"

"You don't have to write it," I shook my head. "I just want you to tell me our story that you once lived in your dreams. In a way, you will be writing it with me."

Her emotional expression gradually turned into a bright smile. "That sounds like a good idea, Lisa."

"You know what else sounds like a good idea?"

"What?" she asked.

I gave her a sheepish grin as I leaned against the chimney. "Sleep."

She tossed her head back and laughed. "You're forgetting what we came here for!"

I was about to yawn in exhaustion when I suddenly felt the dimness of the clouds disappear from where we were sitting. The sun started to peek from below as it slowly rose behind the clouds, shining a dim yellow light towards us.

"It's beautiful," she gushed, staring at the sight before her. I didn't even notice right away that she was holding my hand as she gazed at the sunrise. "I've never seen this before."

I smiled and focused my attention towards her instead. "You are beautiful, Jennie."

* * *

Jennie's POV

I wanted to kiss her so bad. I wanted to lean forward and just go right at it. Her pink lips looked so soft and delicate. I wanted to remember how it tasted like.

But I couldn't. I had to sit there and stare at the perfection that was before me, knowing that I couldn't just pull her into my arms again and act like we were the Lisa and Jennie in my dreams.

This was real life. She wasn't in-love with me. Maybe she was infatuated or in complete awe of the strange situation, but she most definitely wasn't in-love.

I didn't exactly know how to respond to her calling me beautiful. I wanted to cry again but I didn't want her to think I was a crybaby. It just have me so many amazing memories.

What if she was just using me to be able to come up with a good story that would earn her? What if she's  using me to cure her condition? What if she didn't really like me? What if she genuinely thought I was insane?

Everything was just too good to be true. I thought I was going to have to chase her and beg her to stay with me, but why was she letting all of this happen? Why was she making it so easy for me?

"I think you need to get some sleep," she chuckled, her hand never leaving mine. "You've been spacing out a lot."

"You just make me want to pinch myself sometimes, that's all," I smiled.

All of a sudden, I remembered it was a Monday morning and I had to go to work in exactly two hours.

"Oh shit," I cursed under my breath. "I have to go to work."

"Damn, that sucks," Lisa pouted. She just looked so damn cute it was getting frustrating not being able to get cozy with her. "Can't you call in sick? You haven't slept a wink."

"I don't think I can," I sighed. "Everyone's always so busy there on a Monday, including myself."

Lisa helped me up and brushed her hands in her pants. "Oh, alright. You should get some good sleep tonight though."

"I will," I nodded. "But I want to see you again."

"What time do you get off work?" she asked.

"Six," I eagerly replied. "Can I meet you for dinner after?"

"You want to come over to my place?" she smiled. "I can cook for both of us."

I let out a sigh of gladness, feeling ever so grateful for the current circumstance I was in. "I would love to."

"Awesome," she grinned. She looked really cheerful despite having no sleep at all. The eyebag game was on point though, but I'm sure mine looked worse.

"Hey. I think it's about time you asked for my number though," I pursed my lips.

Her eyes widened as she snapped her fingers. "Of course!" She pulled her phone out of her pocket, unlocked the screen and handed it to me. Finally.

After saving each other's numbers in our phones, we headed back down from the roof.

"I'd ask you to jump so I can catch you but I'm too sleepy I might miss and cause you to break your leg," she gave me a lopsided grin. "Or die."

"Thanks for the concern," I laughed.

When we got back to the streets, we roamed around in our bicycles for a bit, looking for the place where we stole it. As we were parking the bikes back, one of the guards saw us and pointed, "Hey! You two! Come back here!"

Lisa shook her head and chuckled. "One last run before we head off?"
