The evening after the test

Milo and Flint came out of their virtual pods. Once both of them were completely out, Milo suddenly attacked again, since Flint was in his physical body which was untrained and even though he saw it coming and even reacted on time, he didn't have the speed to completely dodge the hit. So in the end he got hit on the back of his head and fell face down, loosing consciousness.

"Phew, that felt good." Said Milo, cracking his neck. "A load off my shoulders."

Everyone looked at them with smiles on their faces. Some even held back their laughter, knowing full well that Milo could kick their sides if they did.

"Looks like Flint kicked your ass, eh Milo?" Said Haze the thoughts of everyone there.

"Well, yeah that kid was a fucking pain in the neck to deal with... He's like a beast, all instincts. If I didn't hit him at least once, while he's weak I would never be able to hit him again. Anyway, tell the kid to come tomorrow once he wakes up."

"Sure, I have no problem with that. Though, the kid will most likely hate ya."

"Pft, as if. From the experience in talking with him in there, it felt like I was talking with someone my age and not a kid. And his plans are crazy as well... Be ready, it will be a fun half a year, for all of us."

As Milo said that, he went out again. Once he was out, he smelled himself. "Do I really smell so bad?" After saying that he went home.

An hour later Flint woke up. First thing he saw was an unknown ceiling and jumped up from the couch he was laying on, scarred that it was all a dream. Once he looked around him, he calmed down. Haze came up to him at that moment, smiling ear to ear.

"So, have you slept enough?"

"Ugh, yeah... I'll remember what that old man did and get back at him at in the future."

"Well, keep it for after you finish studying under him. Because with how he is, if you continue pranking him he'll just find a way to get at you afterwards."

"Oh come on, as if he won't teach me if I prank him a bit from time to time... I mean, as long as I don't go too far nothing should really happen, right?"

"If he finds out, your life will become harder than it should be while he's training you."

"Then I'll just do it in a way that he doesn't find that it was me who did it." Shrugged Flint.

Haze laughed at how Flint was concocting ways to deal with Milo. Thinking that life in the gym will be quite interesting from now on, that's for sure.

"In any case, Milo said for you to come tomorrow. Looks like he'll be here all day, now that there's a job for him. I'm looking forward to seeing what will happen in the next six months that you're here."

"Yeah, look forward to me getting my ass handed to me and him getting pranked on every single day."

With that Flint took his things and went out. Once he was out of the door, Flint almost fell over because of the headache he got from Milo's hit, he couldn't stand straight and his head was ringing like a bell.

"Really that old asshole... He had to play me like that and I didn't even do anything to him, honestly."

As he said that he started walking home, the pain was strong even thinking straight was too much. With his memory, he remembered the path home and got there on his own. It took him a while, but the fresh air helped him alleviate the pain and get his head straight. After the pain was mostly gone, he felt inspiration hit him and started writing down more ideas that would help him on working out the kinks of magic and science fusion.

"Ha~ah.. I really need to take more walks outside, the fresh air really cleans up your thoughts."

Once he was home, Flint went to his room and dropped dead on the bed. After a few more minutes, his ragged breathing slowed down and he fell asleep.

Half an hour later his mother came inside, looked at him sleeping and placed a blanket on him. After which she went outside and left him sleeping. She met Jack in the hallway, they started talking about what happened today.

"So... How was his day?" Asked Jack.

"Well... He actually wanted to go to a gym, so we went there got him a membership. From the explanation that we got there, it seems to be more of a martial school of sorts that a gym in my honest opinion."

"Well, the kid had never done anything that would require him to gain stamina or strength. He needs some kind of training and it will be a nice experience for him as well."

"Said the guy who never carried anything heavier than a staff or a stack of books."

"Hey, I never said I had any experience in it. But it doesn't mean that he doesn't require any? Unlike me who had gone through magical modifications, he hasn't. And I truly don't want him to go through them or he won't have any future and it might end really badly if any experiments go wrong as his body will be built upon magic and not his own power."

"Ah! There was also that thing... Yeah, that open secret of nature sorcerers that cuts your life-force in half for the sake of getting a strong warrior-like body, best option for a long living race."

"Yes that, but our son is a half-breed of human and elf. So even if he is long living, that modification might have implications. Which I wouldn't recommend to anyone and I wish the best for him, so I'm against it. Let him train his body, he has a long life ahead of him that way."

"Yeah, I'm all up for that and yet... I feel sad seeing him come home, tired to the point that he can't even take his clothes off."

"Well, that's better than dying from a forced body modification. That had never been used on a human openly and even more so on a elf and human mix."

Both of them looked at each other and knew that their thoughts are alike. With that both of them went to their room to sleep. This night was long and quiet, as compared to a day full of fresh experiences.
