6 Chapter 6 - The first steps

The next day. After a short walk with his sister, Brandon wanted to sleep, he fell asleep right in the girl's arms. And he woke up already in a shabby crib, apparently they found somewhere in the ruins. Feeling hungry, he had no choice but to scream.

*baby crying*

{Eh, I'm over 100 years old, god what do I do}

-Wow look, baby Brandon wants to eat, go to mommy.

By the way, he was very lucky that his mother has the opportunity to breastfeed the child, because it is not at all clear what he would eat otherwise, there is nowhere a pharmacy where you can buy baby food. After feeding, his older sister usually began to play with him, apparently the brother at that time was engaged in farming, and maybe collecting.

He began to get used to this measured life, but unfortunately, the time came when he had to try to improve himself for the dangers of the wasteland. First of all, he learned to walk, although he was awkward, but still managed to move around their shack and surroundings. He was often with his mother when she was farming and trying to train his movements.

[Agility + 1]

[Endurance + 1]

After another 1 year, he began to imitate the speech of a one-year-old child so as not to scare everyone with his sudden good communication skills. After 6 months, Brandon began to make a completely intelligible speech, which surprised and delighted his mother, unfortunately the brother and sister knew little about the children, since in their whole life they rarely saw the kids and did not know how amazing Brandon was.

[Charisma + 1]

When He was 6 years old, he raised all of his statistics except intelligence and luck by 3. His intelligence reached 5, and luck is still 1. It is very surprising how the statistics of intelligence works, since because of the system, all his memories were preserved in him, it can be assumed that after his birth he could assemble a nuclear reactor from sticks, but in fact this is not so.

This statistic works like a computer. All his memories are the operating system, and the statistics are the computer. So, for example, if you put Windows 10 on a computer from the 90s, then you will most likely fail or it will work very slowly. Therefore, Brandon tried his best to increase this statistic, trying to reproduce complex data in his head.

And with the onset of his 6th birthday, he already became almost independent, and stopped relying heavily on the care of his mother.

At this time, sister Abigail, who is already 13 years old, is actively involved in the life of the farm, helping his mother, Marcus, 16 years old, he left the farm and began to wander through abandoned cities, searching pre-war houses for various useful things. Starting from clothes, ending with weapons, everything that can be used and for which you can get several caps. By the way, sometimes caravans with brahmins pass by them. Traders usually bought vegetables and fruits from them. And Marcus bought mostly bullets and all kinds of tools to fix his equipment.

Today Marcus brought with him some strange kind of human skeleton mixed with polymers and plastics. I recognized this thing immediately. Maybe my family has never seen such a thing, but I will never forget it - Synth.

In my 2 life I even tried to create one of these, but nothing worked for me. Then there really were androids, but they were fundamentally different in their energy core. For synths, the power system worked on a Fusion core, while for androids based on the Dagon element, it was a complex alloy of various metals that generated electricity just like a conventional electric motor, but millions of times more efficient.

- Marcus, what did you bring this time? I asked coming up to him

- Heh, you won't believe, this is the jackpot, just look at all the stuff inside, it's definitely something valuable, I'm sure I can get a decent amount of caps from Jerry when he comes here.

- Wow, you are such a good fellow, maybe we can even buy a house in diamond city.

Marcus smiled back at me and even laughed a little, of course who would not want to live in safety, surrounded by walls and guards, but unfortunately the house is not cheap there. But no matter how far Marcus dreams, unfortunately his dreams will not come true, at least not yet. The fact is that in the Commonwealth, synths are not loved and feared. There are few wandering merchants who would want to buy something like that. But in fact, for such a product, craftsmen in large settlements will give up all their savings, because very high-quality materials are obtained from them, which can be used absolutely everywhere.

A couple of days later, Jerry passed by us with his brahmin Tom.

Marcus quickly ran up to him with synth and began to speak.

- Hey, I recently wandered around here and look what I found, you just look at what pieces of iron here and there, and the wires and this plastic. It definitely costs a lot. Jerry, how many caps will you give for this?

The caravan man looked at the synth, raised his eyebrows in surprise, and then said with regret.

- Sorry Marcus, but I won't buy this thing.

- What ? But why ?

- Do you know what it is?

The guy shook his head doubtfully from side to side.

- Well, you see, there are rumors in the commonwealth that the Institute is replacing people with these robots, which are called synths.

- But it turns out that this thing ... synth should cost even more?

- No, there are 2 sides of the coin and both of them, to be honest, are crap.

- What are you talking about?

- Firstly, ordinary people do not understand that people selling synth parts are not agents of the institute and do not choose the next victims. Because of this, the reputation of itinerant traders goes down and everyone becomes afraid of him.

- And the other half?

- Heh, this is already a really bad thing. Rumors are not groundless, the agents of the institute really exist and in this case, they sometimes hunt down some individuals who have something belonging to them. And then Poof, and this person died or is still alive, but this is no longer him.
