Strong hold on my heart

Every now and then, the carriage would hit a bump and jostle us. I watch outside as I was riding further and further from him. Already think of how I would compose my letter to him. I heard a cough from Kingsley and faced him. "Yes?" He looked as if he were deciding how to tell me. "Miss, who was the young man?"

"Him? Oh, He is the young heir, James Moore." I said feeling my face heating up just saying his name. "Hmm, well I guess he has a respectable background." Kingsley said under his breath. "Pardon me, Kingsley, what was that?" He looked shocked that I had heard him. "I was just saying, at least he's from a respectable family, hopeful his highness, will take this into account." I was confused for a moment, "Why would he need to take that into account?"

"Well, when he founds out that this James Moore, is who his daughter is infatuated with, if he has a decent background he could be a contender to court you." There went my heart beating faster than the horse pulling our carriage. "Do you really think father will at least give him a chance?" I looked at him with my noteworthy puppy dog eyes. "Er, I'm sure if you went to him with that face and told him your case, he would keep it in mind." I grinned, "Kingsley, I want to see him again. As soon as possible, when is the next time I'm free?"

"I'm not sure, I'll speak with his highness when we arrive." Hmmm.

I walked into the familiar palace, I had lived my whole life. "Good evening, Juliette." My father was reading his newspaper by the fire. "Good evening, father." I went over to sit by him. "Did you have an enjoyable time at that party? Did you do enough socializing to keeping up apperance?" He peered over his glasses to look at me. "Yes and yes, thank you for asking. I was wondering, is there any social event coming up soon?" He put down his paper, "Not anything I know of, but that could be subject to change. Is there something on your mind?" He looked at me questioningly. "I met a young heir at the party, and was hoping to get the chance to have a meeting with him?" I held my breath as I watched my father think it over. "I don't see why not. You're reaching the age when you need to be courted. I want to see what man has captured my daughter's heart. How about you ask him to have afternoon tea with us in 3 days time?" I almost screamed! "Thank you, daddy!" I ran over and kissed him on the cheek. He chuckled and picked his paper back up, "Why don't you get a start on that letter? He's not going to invite himself." I rushed upstairs, to my study, and pulled out a quill and paper. That's when I realized, I didn't know exactly how to write to him. Talking had been so easy. It felt like second nature with him. I started off plain. "Dear Mr. James Moore," Mr sounds like he's an old man, but formalities are a must. "I hope this letter finds you in good health." Still a little boring. "I had a splendid time this evening talking with you. So as promised, my father and I formally invite you for afternoon tea 3 days from now. I hope you'll be able to join us. Yours truly, Juliette Belmont." I read the letter over again and held it close to my body. James Moore, I can't wait to see you again. Then I spritzed a little of my favorite perfume around it. Finally sealing it within an envelope. "Kingsley!" I called. Within a few moments Kingsley appeared in my doorway. "Yes, miss Juliette?" I handed him the letter. "Please have this sent to the Moore residency soon." He turned and left with the letter, and I finally started to relax. Tonight had been such a strange and wonderful event. Never would I have thought, that I would have met my prince charming at a small party. I hope he gets the letter and comes for tea.
