51 Ch. 48 - Infiltration

Coulson turned his eyes to Doflamingo, as if demanding an explanation from him.

Doflamingo just raised his hands as if he did nothing wrong, making Coulson sigh.

"A-anyways, I hacked into the Government and saw this." Uncomfortable with her dad being here, Matilda stuttered a bit as she showed them the contents of her laptop.

"You hacked into the government? You know that's illegal, right?" Fury said to her.

"It's not illegal if nobody knows, right?" Matilda shrugged her shoulders as everyone turned to look at her laptop.

In there, they saw a very familiar person.

"That's me?" Vers confusingly asked.

"Yes, and you're name is Carol Danvers, a former Air Force pilot and intelligence agent. According to here, you were declared dead after an accidental plane crash. I can't get too much details as the Government must've deleted your other files or they must've used hard copy to place the rest of your data." As soon as she said that, Vers's eyes suddenly started losing focus as she held her head in pain.

"What's going on?" Coulson asked.

"She must've recovered her memories or atleast some of it." Talos said as he watched Vers grit her teeth in pain.

Doflamingo stood up to help her lay on the couch.

"We should wait for her first, before we proceed with the rest of her data." Doflamingo said and they all agreed as the waited.

It didn't take long before she finally stopped gritting her teeth in pain.

"You're finally awake." The moment she opened her eyes, she was met with Doflamingo's face looking at her.

"Where am I?" She groggily asked as she sat up.

"You're in my office, do you remember anything?" Doflamingo replied to her question before asked back a question.

"A woman, her name is Dr. Wendy Lawson, she's the woman I kept having nightmares. I don't remember much but I think she used to be my mentor or some sort. I also remember Project Pegasus, but I don't have much recollection of it except her Invention called Light Speed Engine." Carol tried to recall everything that she remembered.

"It's not enough. We need something to fully trigger your memories." Doflamingo said as he stated a suggestion.

"How about visit this Air Force Base where you used to work, maybe we could find some information there about Lawson and her Light Speed Engine." Doflamingo said and they all agreed, so with a gesture to Matilda, she started working on her laptop before showing them the contents again.

"I got the address. Let's go." Matilda informed them.

"Alright then, looks like we're going on a trip." Doflamingo said as he prepared himself to go out. Talos and the Skrulls also followed suit but Fury wasn't having any of it.

"Hold on, so no one's gonna talk about how she just hacked into the government server?" Fury said to them, however he was ignored as even Carol left to follow them as she also wanted to know the truth about herself.

"Sigh, Coulson, come with me. Coulson?" Fury called out to Coulson behind him but when he didn't respond, he called again and turned around however, Coulson was nowhere to be found behind.

He then noticed that Coulson was talking to Matilda as if he was reprimanding her for what she got herself into.

"What the fuck is going on." Fury rubbed his temples. He was tempted to call his superior was he's afraid that he might get scolded as it was made clear that no Shield agents should get close to Doflamingo or any of his properties and he just broke that rule.

"I think I have an idea about the Project Pegasus. Although I don't have a high position in Shield, but I've got some rumors about it. It was said to be related to creating some kind of weapons using a certain item." Inside a van, the Skrulls, Carol, Fury and Coulson were sitting inside while Fury was talking.

"A weapon?" Carol scratched her knuckled as she tried to remember about the Project Pegasus.

Soon, the van stopped and Doflamingo, the driver said to them.

"We're here." As soon as Doflamingo said that, Fury opened the door and they were met with a vast desert.

"Where are we? We're literally in an unknown desert." Fury got out the van and so is the others.

"Hoe about you guys look down there, right at the cliff." Doflamingo got out of the driver's seat and pointed at the cliff.

They did as he told and just as he said, there was indeed a secret base as they could see some soldiers patrolling around the area and a tall fence surrounding a facility.

"I should have expected that." Fury muttered as Doflamingo spoke.

"Alright, here's the plan. We're going to infiltrate and find information about Wendy Lawson and the Pegasus project."

"Wait infltrate? I understand that you guys can't get in but me and Coulson?" Fury interrupted him and said before flashing them his Shield I.D.

"Well, that's convenient. So here's the plan."

So basically, the plan is Fury, Carol and Coulson will infiltrate the facility, legally. While, Doflamingo, Talos and his men will infiltrate illegally.

"You guys ready?" Doflamingo asked Talos and his men.

"Yes!" In order to find a home for his fellow race, Talos is more than ready.

"Alright, Fury and the other 2 already got inside. So, after we're inside, we would split and once the alarm blares, we would gather at the plane hanger, understood?" Doflamingo said to them and once they nodded, Doflamingo opened a portal and went in, followed by the Skrulls.

It took the Skrulls 5 minutes to find their targets and took over their appearance before they all split up.

Doflamingo first went to the security room and with the help of his Observation Haki, he managed to avoid the patrols and cameras before arriving at the security room.

Seeing the two guards watching over the cameras, Doflamingo raised his hand at them and muttered a spell.

"Sleep." It is a very simple spells that only works to those who don't have any unique feature like being a magician or a God. Meaning, it only works to average mortals.

As soon as the two guards fell, Doflamingo silently went in and inserted a USB drive on one of the slots.

"Matilda, are you in?" Doflamingo asks.

"Hold on....There! I'm in."

"Good, now I need you to watch over the security cameras and if you think that something goes wrong, sound the alarm." He issued a command.

"Got it." Receiving an 'okay' from her, Doflamingo finally left the security room and headed towards the Classified Records Aisle.

Along the way, he was met with a Skrull who just got out of a room and they both nodded to each other before going on their ways as if they don't know each other.

Soon, Doflamingo arrived at his destination and started searching for a woman named Wendy Lawson.

"Doflamingo?" Suddenly, while he was searching, Carol's voice sounded out and when he turned to his right, he found Fury and Carol together.

"What are you doing here? Where's Coulson?" Doflamingo asked.

"Of course we're here to search. As for rookie, I sent him to infiltrate the security room so he could turn the cameras off." Fury answered.

"Too bad for him I already did just that, a bit too late now." Doflamingo shrugged as Fury sighed and started searching with Carol.

"I got some information about the Pegasus Project!" Carol said as she raised her hand and there was a folder where a 'Classified' word was etched.

"Good, I'll look for Wendy Lawson." Doflamingo flashed a thumbs up to Carol before resuming his search.

After a few minutes, Doflamingo finally got the folder to Wendy Lawson's information, including her Light Speed Engine project.

"Here." Doflamingo threw the folder to Fury who started flipping the pages one by one and managed to find a notebook full of weird symbols.

"Well, she's a cuckoo." Fury said as he showed the notebook to Carol who was shocked at the weird symbols.

"She's not a cuckoo. Those are Kree Glyphs." Carol took the notebook from his hands and tried to read the symbols.

"We're gonna need Talos for this." Doflamingo said as he packed all the classified folders to his duffle bag.

"Where'd you get the duffle bag?" Fury confusingly asked.

"Secret. Anyway, let's g-." Before Doflamingo could finish his sentence, the alarm suddenly rung.

"What's going on?" Carol asked.

"My dad's in trouble." Matilda said to Doflamingo through their telepathic link.

"Looks like Rookie was caught." Doflamingo said as he started running out of the room and entered the emergency exit, followed by Carol and Fury.

Meanwhile, Talos and the Skrulls heard the alarm, so with their disguises on, they started running towards the hangar.

Coulson, who broke in the security room found that the guards were already asleep however, unfortunately for him, a patrol saw him enter the security room so when he saw the sleeping guards inside, he immediately Madea conclusion that Coulson is an invader.

*Ring!*

"Shit!" Coulson cursed as he tried to exit the security room and entered the emergency exit, however as he did so, gunshots fired behind him, almost hitting him in his shoulder.

Just when a bullet was about to hit him, Doflamingo arrived in time and deflected the bullet using his body.

*Dang!*.

The bullet fell on the ground as Doflamingo grabbed Coulson and ran away from the pursuers.

As they arrived at the hangar, they stumbled upon the Skrulls who were also running away, so they joined each other and ran.

"Over here!" Carol shouted at them.

Doflamingo looked at her and saw that she and Fury are inside a jet plane with huge engines behind the plane.

Doflamingo got inside with Coulson on his shoulder while Talos and his men followed suit.

Just in time for the guards to arrive at the hangar and started shooting at them.

"Do you know how to fly this thing?" Fury strapped his seat belt as he asked Carol.

"Uh, we'll see." Carol said as she started fiddling with the buttons and switches.

"That's a yes or no question." Fury said.

"Guys, hurry up, those guys are bringing up the big guns." Doflamingo hurried them up as he watched the guard bring an rpg and pointed it at them.

*Engine Powers Up!*

"Go!" Doflamingo said as the jet plane started levitating and flew away out of the cave.

"Meow."

"Ahh!!"

Just before they could relax, they heard a cat's sound and Talos and his men started screaming like girls.

"Put that thing away from me!" Talos started shooing the cat away.

"You mean this cat?" Doflamingo's eyes widened in surprise as he remembered this cat, or a flerken to be exact.

'This is a perfect gift to Matilda, after all, her birthday is near.'
