28 Ch. 27 - Earning himself a favour

A few months has gone by and Doflamingo finally succeeded in becoming the new Kingpin.

So far, the journey has been very smooth, which Doflamingo hopes that it will continue but he knew that somehow, something wrong is gonna happen.

Good news is, Matilda has finally learned about the true occupation of her father which shocked her a bit but soon recovered.

This is also a good news to Doflamingo as this shows that Matilda has the ability to bypass S.H.I.E.L.D's firewall and succeeded in acquiring some information he asked of her.

Another good news is Matilda has already found an empty warehouse that he could use as his secret base.

However, he can't just hire someone to build him a secret basement, lab or something since he can't casually trust someone easily. So, either he build it on his own or find someone capable and someone he could trust.

After the good news, here's the two bad news.

First of all, John Wick has retired from his Hitman occupation much more earlier than shown in the movie, which shows the Butterfly Effect since Doflamingo came to this world.

Now, every move of Doflamingo might cause the timeline to deviate and who knows what will happen when suddenly Thanos came to earth with his army when superheroes like Iron Man doesn't exist yet.

So, Doflamingo has to be careful on his every moves, lest he might trigger the Bald Sorceress or even the TVA.

Another bad news is, that Doflamamingo just recently discovered that he's been under the radar of Shield and also Hydra, once again.

This wouldn't be a problem for him if it wasn't for the fact that, some Hydra Agents are now stalking his every move, including Matilda's apartment.

According to Matilda, there are atleast 2 Hydra Agents and a Shield agent watching their movements.

At first, Doflamingo thought of snitching the Hydra that was growing under Shield's noses but he realized that he doesn't have any evidence and right now, he's known as the Kingpin of the underworld, so Shield wouldn't believe anything he said.

That's why he asked Matilda to start gathering evidence but according to her, it is very hard for her to do it since the Hydra has already hidden deep within the Shield's ranks and she's all alone.

It looks like Doflamingo also has to do his job, which is to find more excellent hackers to put under him.

He doesn't trust the hackers that he could just hire, so he's gonna do the old-fashion way and recruit his own team of hackers built by trust like how he did to Matilda.

Doflamingo tried to rack his mind on movies that involves hackers and such when he suddenly remembered a certain movie about technopathy.

'It's still in the 19's, so it'll take a few years until he gains his technopathy powers.' Doflamingo grumbled in his mind as he wished he could just travel through time and snatch the people that he think is capable to become a family member.

But first, he still has to confirm whether that person is also included in this world or not, so he ordered Matilda.

"Matilda, search anyone with the name associated with Bill Milner, start from U.K."

"Seriously, why are you always asking me to search some random people on the internet, as if you knew them."

Doflamingo just smiled and didn't answer her questions which causes her to grumble slightly.

While Doflamingo was walking within the dark street, a car flashed past him, followed by a motorcycle, which he ignored.

"By the way, have you already searched for a good land to build an Amusement Park?" While walking, Doflamingo asked Matilda.

"I already did. But so far, either the land is too expensive or it is too remote and we won't be able to attarct customers." Matilda said.

"That's bad. I can't let Garfield wait for too long."

"Is that the lion friend that you made? How come there are lions in Pasadena?" Matilda was weirded out.

"I also don't know, maybe fate arranged us to meet each other?" Doflmainog shrugged his shoulders, he was curious too at first but lost interest since Garfield was the only lion he found in the forest when he tried to look for other lions.

While Doflamingo was chatting with Matilda, he suddenly heard a car crash but it was far away from him and the only reason he heard it was because his ears were more sensitive than the average.

'What happened? Is it a car accident?' Being overridden by his genuine curiosity, Doflamingo started running and for a whole minute, he finally reached his destination.

There, he saw a masked man walking towards a crashed car with a menacing look.

'Wait, isn't this where Howard Stark dies?' Doflamingo saw the situation and immediately felt why this was familiar to him.

'Should I save them? I have two options here. First, I could fight the Winter Soldier and save the lives of Howard Stark and his wife, where I could curry a favor from them or I'll let them be and while at it, steal the 5 Super Soldier Serum that Howard enchanced.' While Doflamingo was thinking on what move would he do next, the Winter Soldier has already reached the crashed car and brought Howard Stark out.

'Fuck it, Hydra has always been a thorn on my side. I might as well as test myself when it comes to their trump card.' Doflamingo has finally made a decision and decided to take action, but first, he has something to do.

As the Winter Soldier raised Howard's head to look at him, he was delayed for a few seconds while Howard looked at him in shock.

"Bucky Barnes?" When he muttered the name, the Winter Soldier was about to punch him in the face however, something wrapped itself around his arm and pulled him off.

"Can't let you do that to a poor old man." Doflamingo walked in like a badass person while the Winter Soldier looked at him in shock and confusion.

"H-help." Seeing that someone saved him, Howard naturally called out to him and asked for help.

"Don't worry, I already called the police, they'll be here soon." Doflamingo assured him, after all, he has three purposes here and one of them is to make sure that Howard stayed alive, along with his wife.

"You're the Joker." The Winter Soldier stood and destroyed the string wrapped around his metallic arm like it was nothing.

"I'm honored for the infamous Winter Soldier to know me. Tell me, how does it feel to work for Hydra that your best friend has risked his life fighting with?" Doflamingo also used this chance to expose Hydra, after all, the longer it grows inside Shield, the more troublesome it is.

"Hydra?" Howard, who found the strength to stand up to help his wife, was shocked and confused by what Doflamingo said.

"You are not obliged to ask me anything. You're under my kill list." The Winter Soldier ignored what he said and stated his words monotonously.

"Show me what you got then. Even if you're one of the war heroes, I'll show no mercy." Doflamingo put on a fighting stance as the Winter Soldier tilted his head before rushing at Doflamingo and used his metallic arm to punch Doflamingo.

All of this was under Doflamingo's observation Haki, so he casually dodged his punch and delivered a devastating blow towards his ribs, unfortunately, The Winter Soldier isn't an average soldier, but a Super Soldier like Captain America, so his senses are top-notched and he backed away as Doflamingo missed his ribs.

The Winter Soldier didn't stop and continued attacking Doflamingo in many forms. Karate, Krav Maga, Kung Fu, Judo, and many other styles.

Although he seemed to not be that proficient in those forms of fighting style, but the manor point of that was because of its unpredictable moves and unsuspecting change of forms.

One moment Doflamingo is fighting him using Judo thej suddenly changed to Kung Fu, which confuses Doflamingo and gave the Winter Soldier a chance to force Doflamingo to back away.

If it wasn't for Doflamingo's Observation Haki, he would have been on the ground by now.

At first it seems like the both of them are on par, but unknown to the Winter Soldier, Doflamingo haven't used his armament Haki and his String powers.

However, seeing that the fight is going nowhere and both of them seemed to be tied, Doflamingo decided to use his armament Haki.

*Zoom!*

The whole arm of Doflamingo turned black which shocked the Winter Soldier and before he could react, Doflamingo's fist was already buried deep within his chest.

*Splash!*

The Winter Soldier spitted out blood as he fell on the ground and painfully stood up while trembling.

"Retreat. Take the case and leave there." On his earpiece, a voice ordered him.

The Winter Soldier looked at him in frustration before dropping two smoke bombs on the ground and also threw a grenade inside Howard's car.

Doflamingo's eyes widened and he immediately rushed towards Howard and Maria and pushed them on the ground while using Armament Haki to cover his whole back.

*Boom!*

The car blew up and some shrapnels fell towards Doflamingo. Fortunately, his back is a bit durable compared to a normal person, so he wasn't injured in any way.

Meanwhile, The Winter Soldier has already left along with the suitcase on his motorcycle.

*Vroom!*

'No point chasing him now. And besides...' Doflamingo stared at the back of the Winter Soldier then his eyes fell on the suitcase straddled on his side before casting a smirk.

'I hope you liked my gift.'

"Thank you, sir..." Seeing that he and his wife was finally out of danger, Howard wanted to thank Doflamingo however, he doesn't know his name.

"You can call me The Joker." Doflamingo said as he walked away from them.

"You're the Joker?" Of course, as one of the founders of Shield, Howard finally recognized Doflamingo as the famous figure that changed the whole Underground side of New York in one night.

"Thank you! You know, Starks doesn't want to owe someone." Howard yelled at Doflamingo who stopped and turned around.

"If you're really thankful to me for saving your life, then do me a favor."

"Anything as long as it is within my capabilities." Howard replied.

"Keep your S.H.I.E.L.D out of my ass..." Doflamingo seemed to think for a few moments before conitnuing.

"And give me a huge land where I could build my own Amusement Park." Doflamingo said which confused Howard but still agreed, with his wealth, he could almost buy anything in America. After all, as long as you have money, you could almost do anything.

"I will tell Shield to put the surveillance away from you and your acquintance." Howard nodded and agreed.

"Thanks. Then, I'm off." When Doflamingo was about to leave, Howard stopped him again.

"Wait! Is what you said is real? That Bucky Barnes works for Hydra? But how? According to the reports Bucky is dead and so is Hydra. Hydra died along with Steve."

"Bucky is brainwashed by them. As for your next question. Operation Paperclip." Doflamingo informed him about Bucky's brainwashing and only answered 2 words in his next question.

"Operation Paperclip?" Howard was confused for a bit before his eyes widened in shock and he yelled.

"Fuck!"

"How was the mission? Did you get the case?" A middle aged man wearing glasses walked inside a facility where the Winter Soldier was resting and healing.

The Winter Soldier pointed his finger at the table in front of them.

The middle aged man smiled happily and said.

"Good job. Though you have failed to kill Howard Stark which is your main mission, so you'll still be punished." The middle aged man said as he opened the briefcase.

*Clink*

As he raised the lid of the briefcase, both him and the Winter Soldier heard a familiar sound while the middle aged man looked at the empty briefcase that contains a small paper.

[The Joker sends his regards.]

Along with a cartoonic smiley being crossed out on the side of the written words.

On the side of the paper is a unpinned grenade resting there.

Both of their eyes widened and the Winter Soldier immediately pushed the man away from the metallic briefcase and used himself as a cover.
