Chapter 2 ( No, it couldn't be)

"Waiter please" someone called.

"Mayla, take the order my hands are full" Chloe pleaded.

" Ok Chloe." she answered and rushed over to the customer.

"May I take your order ma'am?" Mayla asked the woman as soon as she got to the table.

" I'll have chicken and chips, you? Kenny?" she asked the boy who sat across the table from her. He ignored her question and continued with his video game. The lady sighed slightly embarrassed, then hit him on the head with her purse which made Mayla laugh.

" I'll take fries and a smoothie please." He finally ordered without looking up from his phone.

The restaurant was busy as usual since it is well known. Clanking of spoon, Munching, murmurs and laughter filled the air, While waiters moved around taking orders. The customers would often request for James the owner of the restaurant to compliment or criticize the services they had gotten.

When it was 7pm, they prepared to close and started clearing out the tables while the customers started leaving.

"Gather around girls" James announced when the customers had left.

" You all did a great job today" he said and everyone clapped.

"So I'd like to make a toast to a very successful sales day" He said and raised a glass of wine in the air while they cheered.

After drinking James picked up his keys to leave and Mayla ran after him.

" Boss!!!" she called out.

" Mayla, any problem?". He said giving her a concerned look.

"Actually there is boss" she replied.

" Go on" He said in folded arms.

" Can I take a leave tommorow boss? My grandma is really sick I have to tend to her, please?"

"Grandma? I didn't know you have one since you've never mentioned anything about your family since you started working"

" Well I don't like to talk about my family" she said and laughed nervously.

"Mayla, you know tommorow is Saturday and it's usually the busiest day of the week and...."

"Please boss" she pleaded.

" Fine but then you have you turn in early on Monday, since we don't open on Sundays" .

" Thank you boss" she squeaked in excitement.

" I have to tell Kash I can attend the meeting" she thought to herself.

When Mayla had gotten home, after having dinner she thought to pay Kash a visit but it was already late, though she could just appear at Kash's place but she had vowed not to use her powers since she quit or rather 'retired' as she would often correct. So she decided to meet her up before the meeting, Instead she sought to summon Michael, she hadn't seen him since their fight and she missed his presence more than she would confess.

She sat on the ground legs crossed and muttered his name severally , immediately a cool breeze ran across the room and the lights went off then came on soon after. Michael stood in front of her, his gold hair packed up roughly, he's eyes filled with thousands of stars, his white skin and white robe shone in the lights and the down part curve of his wings brushed her carpet lightly. He was a real beauty and she admired him.

" Why did you summon me, I was sleeping" he said coldly.

" Angels don't sleep Michael, don't lie to me" she replied.

"Well I was resting then".

"Michael I...."

"You told me to leave, Mayla" he said looking away from her.

"Am sorry Micheal, I didn't mean to"

" But you did, you always do, you keep pushing me away" he said and his look softened.

" I promise I won't anymore, am so sorry Micheal I acted stupid, life hasn't been so easy you know" she said as tears escaped her eyes. He picked her up from where she sat and embraced her gently

" Its ok, I forgive you" he said softly and she sobbed more and even tightened her grip around him.

" Coffee?" she asked loosening her grip on him and wiping her tears with the back of her palm,he nodded lightly. She went into the kitchen and soon came out with a jug of coffee. She saw Michael still standing , though backing her, he was staring at the picture of what humans assume to be him fighting away evil, she was given that picture as a house warming gift when she moved in two years ago, the lady had told her that hanging a picture of Angel Michael near her door would ward away evil. She was right about Michael protecting people he was an arch angel after all and although hanging his picture was pointless she didn't argue with the lady, it was a gift anyways.

" I am more beautiful and less muscline than this" he turned to tell her.

" Yeah, but they don't know that" she said pouring the coffee in to a mug.

"You should tell them " he said moving closer to her.

" Tell them what? Michael is my friend and he looks nothing like this" she said waving her hands in the air dramatically, Micheal chuckled, he rarely laughed so she enjoyed the moment.

" Come back, Mayla" he said brushing his fingers on her face and staring into her eyes intensely with a smile on his face.

" Your coffee is getting cold" she smiled nervously and turned away from him to avoid the topic.

" I've missed your presence" he sighed.

" Get rid of those wings, you can't sit on them"

" Alright" he said, with this he shook intensely which made him look blur and when he stopped his wings had disappeared making him look more human.

*******************************************

Saturday came faster then expected, Mayla had stayed up all night chatting with Michael and was glad she had listened to Kash. She rushed into the bathroom took her bath and boarded a taxi to the orphanage where Kash stayed, unlike her who was retired Kash was a guardian angel who was simply on a mission to protect the children there for a while until another Angel took her place, she became close to Kash when they went on a mission together- she was assigned to assist Mayla who was a high ranking Ultra-purpose Angel.

The taxi pulled up in front of Sultanville orphanage and Mayla walked in after paying the cab driver, a group of children where playing in the big fenced compound and some of them ran to her and hugged her. She has been here once before, Kash brought her after they bumped into each other at the restaurant where she worked, she had planned to keep her location a secret to avoid visits from the life she had put behind her, but Kash was quick to tell Michael about it.

"Where's your Aunty Kash kids?"

"She's inside" a little girl answered pointing to the door, Mayla recognized her to be Kim, from her last visit.

" Thanks Kim, now go and play okay kids?"

"Okay !!!" They chorused and ran away.

When she walked inside she saw Kash giving the older kids instructions, she seemed dress already.

" Kash" she called and waved. Kash waved back and sent the children off.

" Tell me you are coming" Kash asked.

"Well I didn't dress up for nothing" Mayla pointed to her dress.

"Yes!!!" Kash screamed and hugged her

" lets go then" she continued smiling widely

" one more thing, we will have to vanish there, there's no door it's a secret venue" she added while Mayla stared at her dumbfounded.

" You don't have to do it, I'll get both of us there" she continued and Mayla just nodded unsure if she was ok with it, she hadn't vanished in a long time.

"Your hand" Kash said and stretched her hand out to Mayla who took it without question. They both closed their eyes and with a rush of the wind they vanished Mayla felt light on her feet as they stopped and almost fell but someone caught her by her waist. The touch was so familiar and that smell of lilies,

"could it?" she thought

"No it couldn't be" she reassured herself, and finally decided to look at the face of the person who just saved her. Her eyes widened and her mouth dropped open in shock as she saw him, she couldn't believe it, after so many years he was standing in front of her, she thought she'll never see him again.
