4 Chapter 3 - Maxing out Speed...

Okay, let's try to level up some skills!

"Skill Tree!"

A GUI filled my entire field of vision. Many text and buttons (?) appear on the GUI.

"Let's see here..."

The GUI is made up of quadrants. The top quadrants seem to be for my stats. I scan it and focused on one of the stats, speed.

'Speed: Level 0 (Requires 10 EXP to Level up)'

Only ten? Easy! Wait... Do I need speed? Well, I don't want to be slow forever, so I think it will be great.

I was about to add it when I notice a question mark beside it.

"What's this?"

Well, common sense tells me that its there for more information. Let's try it. Now... How do I click on it?

There aren't any buttons. I could try to say a command to it.

"More information about Speed!"

The question mark expands.

'Speed: Level 1 -> 10% increase movement speed'

Ah, I understand now. It is like MMORPG's I played. Okay, let's level up!

"Level up, Speed!"

'Leveling up Speed... Successful. Remaining EXP -> 99,990'

Nice! Before trying it, I should upgrade it some more.

I look back at the GUI.

'Speed: Level 1 (Requires 10 EXP to level up)'

Still, only ten? Okay, I'll take it!

"Level up, Speed!"

The same message appeared but instead said I had 99,980 EXP left.

Okay, time to it again!

I kept upgrading speed.

Every time, it cost 10 EXP to level up until I got to level 10.

'Speed: Level 10 (MAX)'

Only ten levels to max skills out? Awe... Oh, well. Let's see how fast this made me.

"More information about Speed!"

'Speed: Level 10 -> 200% increase movement speed'

Below the stat, more text appears.

'New skills due to leveling speed -> Running, Agility.'

Ah, so I can get new skills for leveling up my basic stats. Interesting...

Well, Let's upgrade running and then try it.

'Running: level 0 (Requires 10 EXP to level up)'

Ten EXP again, huh. That means I'll have to use another 100 EXP. Well... I think it's worth it!

I level up my running Skill to its max. Then, I read its information.

'Running: level 10 -> When active, movement speed increases up to 400%.'

Nice! I'll walk at 200% and run at 400%... Well, I don't know how fast that is, but it sounds good.

I turned off the GUI and tried walking. I'm so much faster now!

If I compare this to my old world, I'm moving twice as fast as walking in that world. Nice! I wonder how running is? I walk outside to test it.

"Okay... Let's do this!"

I sprint off the road, going at 32 kilometers per hour. Woosh! This is the fastest I have ever run!

After a minute of running, I suddenly stopped and fell to the ground.

"Ouch! Huh?"

My heart rate increases and I'm suddenly out of breath. Guess this means I need to level up my endurance.

"Skill... Tree!"

Once the GUI appeared. I scan for 'endurance.'

'Endurance: level 0 (Requires 10 EXP to level up)'

Okay, leveling up time!

I leveled up the stat to max level and looked at the information it has.

'Endurance: level 10 -> Able to withstand for days... Able to use [Run] for one day straight.'

Nice! I can run for a day now... If I ever need to do that.

Sweet, these skills with surely help in the Long Run. Wait... If I got these for only 300 EXP, wouldn't everyone have the skills? It's not that fast, but if everyone can get this fast, it might not be that special...

I look down and saw that I had gotten new skills for leveling up running and endurance.

'New skills -> Extreme Speed [Extra], Extreme Endurance [Extra]'

Oh, so I can use more EXP to get faster. Hmm... Maybe I can eventually go at sonic speeds? That would be cool... Let's see how much EXP it costs.

'Extreme Speed: Level 0 (Requires 50 EXP to level up)'

'Extreme Endurance: Level 0 (Requires 50 EXP to level up)'

Ouch... It cost 1,000 to max both out. Well, it's not that much compared to how much I have in total, but... Eh, let's do it anyway!

I max out both skills out; then, I looked up more information about the two.

'Extreme Speed: Level 10 -> 700% increase in movement speed [Replaces with run]'

'Extreme Endurance: Level 10 -> Able to withstand for weeks. Can use [Extreme Speed] for a full day.'

Okay, That's good. Oh, look! More skills...

'New skills -> Sonic Speed [Extra], Full Endurance [Extra]'

Nice! If I get sonic speeds, I can go anywhere super fast! Now, how expensive are you two...

Yikes... That's 2,000 EXP to max them. Well, I think it's worth it. Leveling time!

'Full Endurance: Level 10 -> Able to withstand for months... Can use [Sonic Speed] for two days straight [Replaces Extreme Endurance]'

Nice! This should help a lot... Huh?

Hehe... I'm already hooked on this, so I should go all out!

Okay, now speed is max... No?! There's more! Oh, but it's a unique skill...

Okay, how much?

Huh? Does it only require 10,000 EXP? That's kind of cool... Let's get this over with.

Anymore? No, good. Geez! How much EXP do I have left?

'Remaining EXP -> 76,700'

Ouch! 23,300 EXP lost... Well, let's hope it is worth it. Okay, time to test it out.

I dash down the road, or what I think I did. In a blink of an eye, I was a kilometer down the road. This is way too fast! Maybe it was worth it to spend 23,000 EXP... Plus, if that last Skill increases over time, I'll be going even more quickly... If that is also possible.

Okay, speed is done. Next, I should focus on maxing out my other stats. I don't need them as much as speed, but they should be helpful!

Time to get leveling!
