22 Chapter 21 - Breaking Nullification...

This is an upgraded version of my nullification skill. How did she get it? I doubt that Haya got 100,000 EXP like me since all her other skills are weak but still...

As I was thinking, Haya disappears and starts her attacks. Without my skills, I can't predict where she is. This isn't good! I continue to think when my brain senses something.

It is my [Increased Senses] skill. Haya is about to attack behind me. I rolled to the right side to avoid her attacks.

"Huh?!"

Haya yelled in surprise as I barely escape her attacks. I might be able to stall, but I can only defend. I need a way to attack.

Wait... Why did my [Increased Senses] skill activate? I thought it was blocked?

"!"

That's it! She has disabled my skills, but she couldn't disable my basic stats. This might be applied with passive skills, too, though I don't have much of them.

'Hehe... It's my turn to attack.'

I can't see her, but that's okay. My health is maxed, and so is my attack. If I can get one good hit, I can destroy her. Plus, my speed outdoes hers. Which means, if I go at the speed of light, she can't see me.

I tried going with this plan; however, my speed is significantly reduced. It seems [MAX SPEED] isn't passive. However, my speed is fast enough to give her a hard time. I ran around looking for her. Hmm... I guess I have one option left.

As I run, I start swinging at random. Why? Because her body is still here. Therefore, if I swing at all possible places, I should find her and win.

I continue to run and swing. This continued for 5 minutes until I felt something. My max agility allowed me to react quickly. I reach out for her, grab her hands, lifted her, and slam her to the ground.

"Ouch!"

The slam creates a small shockwave, which made Haya fuzz out of the mouth. The ground where she landed started to split. I breathe heavily. That... was a bit tough.

"H-how... Even though... *Cough* I used it..."

"It? Ah, that nullification thing. Yeah, that worked me to the bone."

I smiled and made a flicking gesture. "Now... Surrender."

"N-no! *Cough*."

Haya tries to force herself to get up, but she couldn't. I moved my fingers closer to her and flicked her head. The flick shot her all the way to the arena's barrier. She coughs up blood and slowly falls to the ground.

"Winner! Nii Sho!"

As soon as the announcer went on, medics run onto the scene. I watch as they try to heal her. I wish I could help, but someone had to disable my skills...

I look behind me to watch how Miyu is doing; however, I couldn't find them. The announcer went back on.

"The semi-finals are finished! The final will have Nii Sho fighting Elise!"

Huh?! Miyu failed? Wait, where is she? I scan the area but couldn't find her, nor Elise.

"The finals will begin in 30 minutes. Both unqualifying contestants are in the medic beds with healers on standby. We'll see you then!"

Thanks, announcer! I need to find those medic beds...

After roaming around, I finally found the medic beds where Miyu was stationed. She has white casts all over her body. She looks to be awake, and when she noticed me, she produces a small smile.

"C-congrats, Sho..."

"Miyu! What happens to you!"

I run-up to her, but a healer stopped me.

"Sorry, no visitors."

"Please, I'm a friend!"

"I said no visitors. Now leave!"

Miyu tried to complain.

"But..."

"Sorry, Miss Miyu, you need rest. No visitors are allowed."

Miyu stared down with a frown. I couldn't do anything. My skills are still disabled, so I can't heal her. Well, I might get in trouble, but it's worth it. I smile deviously.

"Okay, okay. I understand."

"Thank you."

I pretended to walk out the door but then used my speed to go up behind him and knocked him out. He falls to the ground, unconscious.

"Wow..."

"Yeah... He isn't going to like that."

I step over the fallen men and approach Miyu.

"What happened to you?"

"I-it was Elise. Sho, she is dangerous. I recommend falling out of finals..."

"You think I'll lose?"

"..."

Miyu doesn't say anything. She only looks down and stays in silence.

"By the way, how was she able to use the same skills as you?"

"!"

Miyu expression widens a small bit but then dims back to normal.

"So... You saw that too..."

"I didn't see much of the fight, but I did watch her use that skill. Still, unless you attacked, that skill shouldn't be that much of a problem."

If I remember correctly, her skill reverses the attack of the opponent. Unless the other party attacks, the skill is useless. Wait...

Nevermind how she won, why does she have that skill? Isn't it a unique skill...

'First, you should know one person does not limit those unique skills'

Haya said that more than one person could have the same unique skill, but...

As I continue to think, Miyu interrupts my train of thought.

"Under this family, they wanted to create human monsters for their greed with power. That family has a tradition to nurture children and have hope that they got a skill. That skill comes with different power. Once the child turns 8, if they do not possess the skill, they get kicked out.

"I did possess the skill, so I was made to stay. Junko didn't have the skill, but she was still with me. I believe they kept her because of her magical power and skills. Once she came to be within the TEN, she took me and left and created a new family - Enomoto."

Interesting... Still, I have some questions.

"Okay. Does this mean Elise was part of that family?"

"Yes. She was also blessed with the skill; however, her skill had much more power than mine. That is why they didn't care or try to bring me back when I left."

Ah, okay, that explains one part of the puzzle. I still would like to know how she won with that skill.

"Okay, how about that skill. How did Elise use it to win?"

For her to win, Miyu had to attack, but I didn't see her do that.

"Umm... I consider it as cheating, but... she didn't use it to attack but to defend."

"Huh?"

"In other words, she used it to prevent me from attacking. Her skill has enough power to do that."

Man, that does sound like cheating...
