AMBER'S POV

Haaaa... Finally we have arrived the royal city and I was certain that my life was going to turn around for the better.

Doria!Doria!!!! I yelled trying to wake up my best friend who was sleeping beside me like a log of wood.

"Haaaa...Amber are we there yet?"Doria asked sleepily.

"Of course dummy ,will you get up and let's start moving,we haven't got all day,the city is going to be very busy and we need to find the royal palace in time" I said while Jamal assisted me in packing the little things we brought along with us from the village .

Doria,Jamal and I have been friends since we were little,we grew up in an orphanage and although it was very rare for people of the werewolf kingdom to abandon their cubs,there were some of us that were just unlucky and I and my friends happen to fall in that category. We were raised in the orphanage since we were little,then we were kicked out at the age of ten,slept on the streets,ran little errands for people and ate little to no food from the garbage and now Doria and I are going to the royal palace to get a job since we are of age. We have always stuck together through hard times but Jamal doesn't want to come with us because of the rumors he has heard about the royal palace .

The royal palace is said to be a very weird place ,they only employ people who have no family and the rest were bought by the king and once you are sold to him you have to cut all ties with your family and live solely to serve him. No one knows why he does that ,but it also has a lot of benefits like free food,shelter and free clothes so I guess it's worth the shot.

"Be very careful in the city Amber ,and you too Doria ,this place is very dangerous so procced with caution and get to the palace safely ,things are not always as they seem Amber ,you have to be very careful and look after Doria,I'll keep in touch with you guys so stay safe "Jamal said ,hugged us and left.

"Haaaa... I guess it just you and me now"Doria said excitedly.

"Haha.. I guess so" I smiled and picked up our supplies and started walking down the path that led to the royal palace.

"Amber,do you think we will have big rooms when we get to the palace,or will we eat huge chunks of meat with mashed potatoes ?do you think we will be able to see his majesty or will we be slaughtered the day we see him?"Doria kept on asking questions and it was getting really annoying.

" Doria!,no servant has gone through the palace gates and come out alive,so I don't know what is going to happen to us and worst of it all we don't know when we will be able to see Jamal" I was panicking as I started to give my decision to work in the royal palace a second thought.

"Amber! look at me,we are going to be fine ,we are in this together and Jamal said he'll keep in touch, you of all people know that this is the only way we can survive and who knows..our mate may be in there as well ,now breathe in...breathe out.....that's it"Doria hugged me as I calmed down and we kept on walking till we got to the gate of the royal palace .

We were finally granted permission into the royal palace and believe me when I say it was a sight to behold.

The royal palace was definitely a work of art adorned with luxurious materials.We were currently in the courtyard and it was breathtaking,it had a water fountain where was flowing like crystals and the fountain looked like it was sculpted with intricate details. There was also a green house with all kind of plants but its currently locked and also there was a garden and I was certain that I would love to stay there ,the scent of the flowers were beautiful as it's reminded me of spring.

"Hmhmhm....if you know you are here to serve the king then please follow me"I turned around to see and old lady looking at us with eyes that held curiosity and amusement.

"So....you are here to serve the king hmmm..." she peered down at us .

"Yes ma'am,we are very good,we can cook, clean,sweep,wash ,we are also good at...." "ahahaha....you won't need to do all that and I must say you are the first people in the last ten years that have volunteered to work for his majesty, hope you know what this means,"the old lady asked.

"Yes ma'am," we replied.

Fine,then I am pleased to inform you that his majesty is in need of a new maid,so you should debate among yourselves and tell me who is ready, but for now follow me let me take you to your room".

I almost cried at the sight of our room,the place is beautiful and spacious there were also three bunk beds which means there were six people in this room and one of the bunks belongs to me and Doria, I thought we were going to sleep on a mat or something but no ,we are sleeping on a bed! a freaking bed!!,it wasn't that fancy but I loved it,I turned to look at Doria and she seemed contented.

"Stop looking at the room as if you are going to cry, don't tell me this is the first time you are going to sleep on a bed "a slim tall lady asked looking at me and Doria in disgust.

"Uhmmm yeah we are so happy to be here....."

"Spare me the trash peasant.I heard that one of you are going to serve the king personally,I mean... I have been trying so hard to get that position ever since that stupid Jessica died and now you are trying to work for that psycho king...."

"Wait.....did you say psycho.."

Huh! You didn't know?well why do you think servants don't go out of the palace once you have entered?why do maids die every full moon and we never see their bodies?well let me answer it for you, she step closer to us and whispered in our ears."It's because the alpha king is a freaking psycho".
