19 Chapter 19

Friday somehow slipped by without incident or any sight of Bane, much to Celeste's relief. She was still ready to tell the other off by the time morning rolled around. Though, she was rather happy that she didn't have to do it with all of customers in the shop around.

She had been slightly on edge that morning too when she had come to work due to a rough night of sleep.

She had been hoping to sleep with her balcony window open, but quickly changed her mind after being jolted awake by howling wolves.

Though she knew that they were still a good, something about the noise made her feel very nervous and on edge.

It wasn't the first time that she had heard them, she didn't live that far away from the reserve after all. For some reason though, it bothered her more than usual that night.

She had even used her employee discount to buy herself a cup off coffee to help her wake up that morning.

She didn't want her tiredness to affect the way that she served customers or interacted with colleagues. It wasn't there fault after all that she hadn't been able to sleep well. There was someone else that she wanted to blame for that.

She rather glad that Jen's shift that day had landed on the same time that she had to be working at. It meant that she could avoid her friend for at least half a day. She already knew that the other was going to want to bug her about going to the night club.

Celeste still had no clue as to what she was going to wear. She didn't think it mattered much though as she was fairly certain her friend would nix whatever she picked and force her to wear something she thought suited her better.

She didn't care what it was as long as it didn't attract too much attention to her. She wanted to try and have a good time if she was going to be stuck going with her friend because of a promise. The higher chance of that happening would be dependent on no one bothering her tomorrow.

Maybe if she was good enough she would be able to avoid Bane if he was there or keep her fingers crossed that they would be going on a night that he wouldn't be showing up.

She doubted that her luck would work that way, but it was always worth hoping for a miracle.

------------------------

By the time that Saturday evening rolled around however and she had been stuck most of the day with Jen, she found that the first miracle didn't come through for her.

Not only had her friend rejected the three outfit choices that she had liked the most, she forced her to wear something black which happened to be her least favorite color. It was also cut a touch lower than she would've preferred it to be.

Jen brushed her off though when she tried to argue that she didn't want to wear it. Simply stating that it made her look really good and even better with a bit of blush.

Jen was hellbound on making the best out of the night if she was going to the night club. It wasn't something that she often got a chance to do. Either her or her friends were too busy to go together.

She had even let her friend come into the scared dressing up room as she referred it to where she kept her special makeup and clothes set aside exactly for the occasion that they were faced with because she wanted to go all out.

Considered how frequently or rather not that her friend used most of the stuff, she couldn't understand why she kept it all rather than downsizing.

"If Bane isn't there though, that means we can leave early right?" Celeste asked hopeful as her friend powdered her face. She couldn't help the sneeze that came out after the brush tickled her nose. She didn't understand why she also had to worry about looking good when her friend was the one who wanted to find someone to hook up with.

"Absolutely not!" her friend replied in a rather offended tone.

"Even if Bane isn't there tonight, I don't intend to leave until I found someone to hookup with tonight. There are other rich boys or men out. I'm sure I could attract at least one tonight." Her friend continued as she finished the aggressive makeup assault that she was leading on her friend's face much to her annoyance.

"What does that have to do with me going through all this? I'm not going there to find anyone tonight." she sighed as her friend fixed her mascara.

"I know, but they're going to judge whether I'm worth it or not based upon whoever I have with me. In this case that would be you." She explained, putting a few more finishing touches before she was pleased with her work.

"That means you need to be looking as beautiful as possible as well in order to make sure no one ignores us."

The more she listened to her friend talk, the more she knew that she had made the wrong choice. She should've just pretended to be sick so that she didn't have to go through with this.

Even if her friend did try to knock down the door because the other knew she was faking it, it would've been preferable than going to a night club with a friend where she would have to worry about being harassed.

"Great so now I'm supposed your eye-candy to help you attract men you otherwise wouldn't be able to get on your own." It was a small joke despite the tone of voice she said it in. It was enough of a joke to cause her friend to bop her in the face with the makeup brush which set off another round of sneezing.

What Celeste didn't know at the time was that her second miracle that she hopped for wasn't going to work out well for her either.
