[Technically a skill isn't a skill if it is at level 0, instead of increasing your chances at doing something successful it decreases, or it will increase your chances at doing others things, in your case it increased the chance to create poisons.]

[Also, this was an anomaly, even if you just knew how to fry an egg you shouldn't start at level 0, this just means you didn't know anything related to cooking.]
