1 Reincarnation

'...What am I?'

Thought the young man. Usually, he wouldn't question such things, but right now he is in a semi-conscious state and his memories are a bit vague at the moment. As to why he is in such state that he even forgot his name... well it certainly is a mystery.

Though this young man had the mind to question his own existence, he wouldn't be able to do even that and soon go into a deeper slumber...

"...ey...ar.....e!"

If not for this annoying voice that he's been hearing for some time now.

For some reason, he couldn't make out what the voices were telling him, which made it even more annoying.

"...are you... l.s...ing!"

But gradually the voice cleared up, until finally...

"Hey! wake up, already!"

The young man opened his eyes with a jolt

What greeted him was a strange space with blue tendrils of energy violently swirling everywhere, the more surprising thing is the feeling of weightlessness that assaulted him the moment his mind cleared up, quickly glancing at his feet told him that he's floating... just floating amid energy swirls.

"What the hell!"

To say he was overwhelmed would be an underestimation, after all, just a couple of seconds ago he was peacefully sleeping, questioning his existence a bit, nothing more, and now he's... here.

"You're finally awake, took you long enough, dangit!"

The voice called again, but now it was completely clear and awfully familiar.

"!You are...!"

Turning his head to the source he saw a person, he knew this man, have known him for a decade, they've been best friends since the time they meet.

But right now, for some reason, he couldn't remember the name of his friend, he couldn't even remember his own name for that matter.

It deeply unsettled him, but before he could continue his friend interrupted

"Yeah, yeah, I know, you don't remember my name and whatnot, same here, buddy!

For some reason, he had a big shit-eating grin on his face while saying that, nonetheless, he wasn't finished yet

"I know You have questions, but it'll take too much time for me to answer them, we don't have that much time, to begin with, so just look over there"

he said and pointed forward

following his hand, a massive blue orb of energy could be seen quite a distance away.

The moment he laid eyes on it his mind was flooded by information.

Apparently, he died with his friend and now they are in the process of reincarnation

"...Holy shit..."

That was the only response he could give, he was, once again, overwhelmed.

"I know right?! who could imagine this would happen to us!"

"Aren't you a bit too enthusiastic about it!"

That statement was not wrong, not one bit, after all, unlike himself, who just woke up and was not able to take in the whole situation, his friend was fully awake during the accident that killed them both, he experienced the death for all it's worth, so being given a second chance was indeed a thing to celebrate.

They noticed it now, but the blue orb, it was pulling all the energy swirls toward it, considering the fact that they themselves were being swept by the swirls, you could say that the orb was their final destination, what would happen to them once they finally reach? that the two did not know.

The answer to that question came in form of a stray swirl stabbing through his friend's chest.

They wouldn't be reaching that place.

"This is it, huh. Well, no matter, see you on the other side, my friend!"

His body began to disappear, starting from his chest, into blue motes of light and soon there was not even a trace of him.

Now left alone, he, once again, turned his gaze to the orb, there was something oddly fascinating about it, to him at least.

Unfortunately, this couldn't continue for much longer, being the only 'prey' left, he too, soon would disappear from this place, the same way his friend did.

And indeed, nearby swirl attacked him, but through some luck and anticipation, he dodged it.

Why? he just wanted to gaze at the orb some more, the closer he got, the more fascinating it got, alas he couldn't dodge the swirls forever and thus he got stabbed after some time, his body began to dissipate and the darkness once again enveloped him, but he did not take his eyes from the orb till the very end.

In the rural area of the Demeroth kingdom, there was a group of children merrily playing with each other, these kids were orphans, but despite that, they were still running around with big smiles on their faces.

One of them was a three-year-old Einhard, he had a jet black hair and black eyes, for what it's worth, he was always different from other kids, but not too different to become an outcast.

He was different in the sense that he was a bit smarter and more comprehending then other children of his age.

Oh, he was also having strange dreams about a man who was not him, but couldn't help but feel like they were somewhat connected, very strange indeed.

Right now Einhard is playing chase with others, being the youngest of the bunch he had to give his all to outrun his friends, that's why, when suddenly he remembered all about his past life, tripping over and getting a nasty bruise was inevitable.

Yes, little Einhard is indeed the reincarnated young man.

'That stings'

Thought Einhard with watery eyes, judging by the exasperated looks the nearby adult were giving him, this kind of thing was not all that rare.

Alas, the bruise on his knee is certainly a nasty one, he could, of course, endure it, but proper treatment would be preferred.

As if on cue, a gentle-looking woman came up to him and led him away.

Einhard expected to receive a mundane treatment, but then the woman, named Elena, used magic to heal him.

"whoa..."

It was to be expected, he knew that he'd be reincarnated in a fantasy world thanks to that orb, but that did nothing to stop his eyes from widening like saucers.

It looks like his new life would be rather interesting.
