The Omnitrix Deconstructed

Despite its popularity, there are very few that know the full capabilities of the Omnitrix.
This little wristwatch is on the top 20 shortlist of most powerful devices in all fiction. Top 5 in ones that are handheld.
This is to explain why that is and the changes in the story it underwent.

In short , The Omnimatrix. Or more commonly known as, The Omnitrix.
The (Intended) Ultimate peacekeeping device, a device to allow the different beings of the universe to understand each other by putting the phrase -
"Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes."'
Quite literally in this case...
To the rest of the universe.
The Omnitrix had a three-fold purpose.
One was to promote inter-species understanding by allowing other beings to experience different ways of life.
The other was to function as a repository for the DNA of over a million different species that Azmuth thinks are intelligent.
This collection of DNA is then preserved in the event that any of species catalogued should ever be rendered extinct, allowing the Omnitrix to restore them to life.
Unbeknownst to everyone else, Azmuth had a third reason for creating the Omnitrix. He hoped that his estranged lover Zennith, who had left him as he created Ascalon, would learn of his change and come back to him

This device was constructed from its matrix cores, which is the black device with circuit patterns, which are what makes the Omnimatrix device work, and can adjust to fit their user and reflect different modes they are in with different colors.
The device is a portable library of intergalactic genetic data that allowed the wielder to alter their DNA at will and transform into a variety of different alien species, each with their own unique abilities.
The binding/repairing alien DNA to the user is just one of its many features. It can also serve as a GPS and create a hologram map, a universally accurate digital watch to keep time, Long distance teleportation through Azmuth's teleportation channel , a Universal translator that can translate nearly any language and a Universal communicator, that can be used to nearly contact any device on the earth as well as any Alien systems out there.
There are multiple modes for the Omnitrix, such as:
• Active Mode
Active Mode is the Omnitrix's default mode. The said actual usage time is "10 minutes"* at a time.
If user changes from one form to another, the combined time for the changes can be no more than 10 minutes, likely less because of power leakage.
Multiple transformations are energy-intensive and deplete the watch's power supply more quickly than single transformations. Three or four transformations would leave him with substantially less than a combined 10 minutes of time.
The Omnitrix seems to time out sooner if it's taxed by activities with a lot of moving, like fighting. However, if regular transformations are tampered with, the user can't always turn back.
• Recharge Mode
When the Omnitrix times out, it goes into Recharge Mode. It takes around 5 minutes to recharge, though it may take more time if tampered with. Recharge Mode's main purpose is to prevent the alien DNA from attaching permanently to its host.
The Omnitrix can instantly recharge to protect the user from a direct physical threat.
This was shown when Ben was stuck to a wall about to be killed by Kevin 11and when Zs'Skayr tried to possess Ben.
Both times, despite just timing out within a minute earlier, the Omnitrix recharges instantly when the user's life is put in direct threat.
This feature was switched off after the recalibration in canon.

If the user is knocked out or hurt enough, the Omnitrix will revert them to their normal form.
The Omnitrix can alternatively flash green, rather than red, when signalling a time out.
• Scan/Capture Mode
When a new DNA sample has been unlocked from the Codon Stream, or when the Omnitrix captures new DNA not present in the Codon Stream, Capture Mode is activated. It can also reclaim lost or removed alien DNA that was in the Codon Stream. It scans to match the species, then moves the identified species to the active playlist. If it's seen the species before, it does it passively, without Ben actively scanning.
• Recalibration Mode
The Omnitrix begins to recalibrate while selecting a set of new aliens. The Omnitrix makes a beep-like noise, then it changes to a glowing black and green and morphs into its new shape. The Omnitrix has hundreds of different forms (this is to fit different users).
The Omnitrix gives its wielder a new set of aliens depending on whether it is a hard or soft reset.
When hacking the Omnitrix, Kevin accidentally and briefly reverted the Omnitrix to its original appearance before changing it back.
Azmuth could also program it to recalibrate remotely.
• Self Destruct Mode
In Self-Destruct Mode, the Omnitrix charges energy while counting down until it explodes. S.D.M. functions as a last resort should the Omnitrix fall into the wrong hands. It can be activated by Voice Command. When in S.D.M. for a few days, the Omnitrix can charge enough energy to cause an energy ripple that will destroy the entire universe. While in S.D.M., the Omnitrix can send out energy bursts capable of throwing the user through the air. When the S.D.M. is activated, the Omnitrix sends out a signal that any ship can pick up (unless it was activated by Voice Command), such as when Vilgax picked it up with a stolen ship and Tetrax picked up the signal, likely as a distress signal.
The Omnitrix could display ten colors, each meaning something different:
Green: Active Mode
Red: Recharge Mode
Yellow: Capture Mode
Blue: Recalibration Mode
Purple: Controlled or risk of temporal threat
Orange: Self Destruct Mode (original Omnitrix form)
Grey: Inactive Mode
Black: Stop Mode
Pink: Under spell effect
It takes numerous scientific knowledge and theories then pushes them to the end of the learning curve such as:

While it also uses nanotechnology, It uses space folding science as it is far, far bigger on the inside than it was on the outside.
This ^ is why whenever the audience gets a inside view of the Omnitrix, is it much more complicated than expected or how a simulated world is shown by the TV show and films.
The Endbringers from Wildbrow's Serial Worm, spread their mass through multiple dimensions from a lens, to keep their mass from collapsing into a black hole, but this also creates a single point of failure, a very strong point but still a point where it could fail making them all but indestructible with advanced technology stuffed in.
The entities and Endbringers use of space folding? The Omnitrix ran circles around them. While the Endbringers might have ridiculous amounts of mass which they use dimensional shenanigans to keep themselves from turning into black holes, the methods they used were absolutely primitive compared to the Galvan methods.
The Galvan method folds space in on itself instead of spreading its mass through multiple dimensions. It folds the space of the dimension it's on multiple times. This allowed a huge amount of tech to be fitted within the Omnitrix while not looking like much on the outside and making in unbreakable to all but itself similar to DC's Lantern rings.
Of course, that wouldn't solve the problem of how heavy it should be, but there were several solutions inbuilt for that. Some active and some passive. Passive ones use negative matter to function. Which would be difficult to store and contain even more so than antimatter, but is possible and done.
In fact, Negative matter is one of the key requirements to build the reactor that powers the Omnitrix.
A reactor that destroyed one of the fundamental laws known to humans. The law of conservation of energy. Because it would produce energy from nothing.
Building such a device would require Level 15 tech at a minimum.
Azmuth made one powerful enough to overpower the Big Bang and destroy a universe.
Using a certain property of Negative mass and Negative matter... Not to be confused with antimatter which had a positive mass, just that their spins were opposite.
At that level of energy production, The change energy into matter and matter into energy can be done with ease.
This ^ is what allows a user of the Omnitrix to transform into different species faster than the light of the Big Bang.
( The reason one sees the transformation is to show the audience. It is not indicative of how fast or the steps in the transformation process is.)
In order for the user to change , the matter needed was created from energy or reconstituted to energy as needed.
Prior to its recalibration, the Omnitrix automatically used the molecules of its wearer's clothes to create coverings for the aliens.
This function was lost when the the Omnitrix recalibrated; instead, nanomachines broke its wearer's clothes down and stored them until the transformation ended.
With some tinkering, this would theoretically ( and practically) allow instant regeneration/ immortality to all damage.
The Omnitrix had a built-in energy feedback blast to defend against anyone trying to force it off of its owner.
The Original Canon Omnitrix communicates with Primus via quantum entanglement, downloads a set of instructions by acting as a wireless receiver for the Codon Stream.
By accessing the Codon Stream, the Omnitrix used special Omni-Energy to merge its wearer's DNA with the DNA samples it held to create transformations.
Due to the Quantum Mechanics/Physics involved , there can only be one "true" Omnitrix as with more than one would cause them to synchronise then create a feedback that could destroy everything.
It is why when Albedo and Ben fought that the first time it caused them to fuse.
Since then he has has made or used different technology to prevent it.
Alien DNA is "injected" into the user, meaning they retain the wielder's personality, memories, and consciousness.
Voice Command
The Omnitrix could be controlled by voice, called Voice Command.
Access Master Control
Unlocks the Master Control but only works to Azmuth's voice.

Upgrades Made*
The Omnitrix has a bodycam, which allows the user to analyze the opponent's moves and can show playbacks of battles. These captures can also be projected holographically.
The bodycam can also create a map of the surrounding terrain and keep track of any other beings located within the vicinity, with the efficiency of a geographic coordinating system.
The bodycam has a high enough frame rate, that it can keep in frame flashes of light that would be invisible to the naked eye.
The Omnitrix has an adapter cable that can let the user program multiple forms of technology and control it through the Omnitrix.
The Omnitrix has a settings panel, in which Ben can activate several modes that change the look of the Omnitrix, his outfit, and other settings that change alien selection display, the alien he will turn into in case he is knocked out, etc.
The Omnitrix can unlock new transformations, modes, and new features using codes that are activated using the dial.
The Omnitrix has a DNA Database of all the DNA samples that can be used to read notes about transformations from Plumber's database, from Azmuth, and add notes. It can also be used to label transformations by their "hero name".
The Omnitrix can give Ben remote access to his account in the Plumber database.
New Functions, such as The Powerhouse Playlist*, can be created by Ben at any time.
A menu -This menu has many functions, for example, a map and a mode select screen for the Omnitrix. The Omnitrix menu also displays icons on tabs, such as "Return to the Transformation Selection Menu", "Messages", "More Options", "Return to the Main Menu", "Omnitrix Settings", and "Altimeter".
Stealth Mode - This mode makes the Omnitrix or user or both invisible.
Uniform Mode - This mode allows the user to change the Omnitrix's appearance, and by using nanotech, it gives the user a transformation-like uniform.
The Uniform Mode gives the user footwear that can provide them with flight capabilities via energy propulsion.*
The Uniform Mode also provides the user with a scanning visor, which can zoom into the target species on a microscopic level. This allows the user to break down the target's DNA, providing the user with a plethora of information on the target, such as precise measurements and their biometric readings.*
Classic Mode -This mode makes the Omnitrix look like the prototype Omnitrix.
Factory Mode-This mode removes all the firewall and outer shell cosmetics of the Omnitrix.
Protection Mode - This mode is adaptive, it creates protection for the user, for example, an armor.

Trivia
• The Omnitrix comes with a scratch guard. It is why in The OS that the Alien transformations had a white symbol while the AF/UA and Omniverse had Green. It was removed by then.
• The Omnitrix is waterproof.
• The Galvans were the first species added to the Omnitrix.However, Grey Matter's DNA sample came from neither Azmuth nor Albedo.
• The Omnitrix can import basic instincts of the selected alien species into Ben's brain seconds after transforming, this feature is very useful when Ben transforms into a new alien.
• Ben can access his transformation through mental commands, now having access to Master Control, but continues to manually use the Omnitrix out of habit.
• Ben spends eight hours once a week looking through the Omnitrix's DNA Database, learning about the transformations he hasn't used yet.
