"Thud, thud....."

"Screech, screech, screech.."

"Waah...waah...sob...sob..."

Liu Feng woke up with a strong headache after hearing a bunch of people shouting nearby. He took a look around and instantly understood that he was in a strange environment.

This scene resembled a cave, with people lying down and blood splattered everywhere. Some humans were engaged in combat with mysterious creatures.

This creature resembled a bat, but it was totally white in appearance, with each one standing nearly one meter tall and possessing a pair of huge wings.

All of the events unfolding in front of his eyes perplexed him. It had only been a couple of minutes since he awoke, yet he couldn't make any sense of it.

He wanted to get away from there, but when he stood up, he fell flat on his face. It was only then that he realized he had shrunk. All of his hands and feet were thin and emaciated.

In the midst of the turmoil, he began crawling and ultimately stood up, allowing him to flee the cave. The odd bats in the back were still causing havoc.

Many people attempted to evacuate, but it appeared that only a few succeeded. Hundreds of people, including men, women, and children had been colored red and were lying all over the place. They appeared to have died; perhaps some were still alive, but it was hard to confirm looking at the scene.

"Shriek ...shriek"

When he was almost at the exit after a few minutes of stumbling, he heard a peculiar shriek from behind him. Looking back, he noticed a larger bat, nearly twice the size of the other bats, with flaming crimson eyes, was the source of the problem.

The creature's scream was so loud that it shook the cave as if it had caused a minor earthquake.

His sixth sense, which was telling him to flee from this thing, shot up by a few degrees.

As he reached outside, he was virtually blinded by the sunlight, but he continued to run by shielding his eyes. He fell down multiple times, but he always got back up and continued.

He stopped running after a while since he believed he was far enough away from that hellhole.

He realized he was in the middle of a forest. Despite the fact that he knew he wouldn't be secure in a wild forest, he didn't have an option.

The Sun had almost reached the horizon. It cast long shadows on the ground. The slanting rays of the setting sun gave a warm orange tinge to the sky. He sat on the ground, his body supported by a tree trunk, as he continued to breathe heavily.

He was in excruciating pain all over his body. Patches of red may be seen here and there. Due to the severe strain on his body, he became exhausted, his eyes became heavy, and he fell asleep.

After an unknown period of time had passed, Liu Feng woke up feeling cold. After a moment of confusion, he looked up. The air was cool, and the sky had a beautiful golden glow on the horizon. He looked as if he had slept there all night.

After that, he had a perplexed expression as he sought to comprehend what had transpired since he awoke in that strange location.

Liu Feng was from the planet Earth, and he worked for a reputable firm as an average employee. His accident was the last thing he recalled.

Back on Earth, he had two loving parents and a younger sibling. He felt a little sad thinking about them. Although it was an untimely death, one cannot change things like that.

He was certain he had perished as a result of the car accident, but how did he wind himself up here? That was the question. This was definitely not Earth; he could tell from the unknown yet familiar language and strange species of creatures.

He tried to recall the memory of this body after calming down from the initial shock. There was not much to remember, only flashes of memories appeared before his eyes.

It turns out that the universe he is now inhabiting is one of those fantasy cultivation worlds, and that his body is that of a slave. When he was younger, he had a name, but he couldn't recall it. After he became a slave, he was stripped of his name.

He used to live in a village with his parents when he was a child, but one day the village head angered a member of an influential family, and his entire village was destroyed to please that guy. The majority of the village's adults were slaughtered, and youths and children were sold as slaves to work in the mine.

Although this might seem a bit excessive to any people from Earth, these kinds of things were relatively normal here.

That unusual creature from earlier was known as Ashen Bats, and their cry has the ability to directly influence anyone's soul, injuring and even killing them. Dark spirit stone mines with a lot of spiritual energy were their ideal habitat.

Because this was a cultivation world, everything was possible. Immortal Cultivators hold the power of gods in their hands. Destruction of Mountains with the palm of their hand, flight, and living 100s of years with the appearance of youth — all of these absurdities that countless people dreamed of back on Earth were all possible here.

In this world, powerful families and sects flourished, based on the foundation of thousands of years of martial arts and development. They held the supreme authority here. The strong always had the upper hand, and the weak could do nothing but surrender to them.

Liu Feng's emotions were a jumbled mess. He was glad he had a new opportunity in life, but he was terrified by the bizarre encounter he had when he awoke in this universe. He was interested in his new reality, but he was also frightened he would lose his life again unless he took precautions.

Because there were no laws safeguarding regular citizens and strength was the only thing that mattered, given his status as a slave, he was not even considered an ordinary citizen.

'How terrifying! If I can cultivate like those immortal cultivators, it would be great. At least I don't have to worry about my safety.' Liu Feng thought.

As he was thinking this, he remembered his predicament. He was an ordinary mortal. He did not have spiritual roots to cultivate. Which means he did not have the talent for immortal cultivation.

The owners of the settlement checked all of the captives' talent for cultivation when they were seized as slaves. Only two persons in their village, a little girl and an adolescent boy, had the ability to cultivate. They were relocated, and the remaining members were sent to the mines as slaves.

"It seems I do not have any hope of cultivating at all", That was something Liu Feng refused to believe but he was helpless. His understanding of this foreign world appeared to be terribly lacking.

"But there is always the possibility to open a business. But given the politics..., Sigh~"

He sighed, "Is it possible that I was given a second opportunity for no reason? Is there nothing I can do?"

As he was thinking of this, he heard a sound in his head just as he completed going through the recollections of this body's memories.
