2 My Surname is Gu

Ming Qu woke up two months later.

She could feel that her eyes were open, but all she could see was darkness.

It was only a few days later that she would learn that she had been saved by a man by the surname of Gu, but she could no longer see the light.

A woman named Ah Ying tended to her daily needs. 

On one occasion, she had managed to grope her way out of bed, prompting a cold male voice that asked, "Why aren't you lying in bed? What are you doing down here?!"

Ming Qu instinctively raised her head, looking for the voice.

The darkness that greeted her disappointed her. Nevertheless, she forced out a smile and asked, "Are you the mister that Ah Ying mentioned?"

"My surname is Gu."

"Mister Gu, thank you for saving me."

"Do you not remember who you are?"

The man seemed to have approached her, his voice suddenly becoming louder.

Ming Qu shook her head, her body trembling slightly.

She had only just recovered from grave injuries, and she required more rest.

The man did not say anything else, and she did not realize when he had left.

As the days passed, she fell into a repetitious cycle of sleep and wakefulness.

In the blink of an eye, more than a month had passed.

One day, she was resting in her room when she was awakened by a loud voice.

She fumbled out of bed to open the door, and a furious voice instantly became clear. "Where's Ah Jiang? It's already been a few days, why haven't we found her yet?!"

"The second miss has been toying with us. We are unable to pinpoint her exact location."

Listening to the two fierce male voices in confrontation, Ming Qu shivered. She was about to close the door when she realized something was off. She heard the patter of hurried footsteps, followed by Ah Ying's slightly anxious voice. "Miss, Mr. Gu invites you over."

Ming Qu was already somewhat apprehensive. Upon hearing Ah Ying's words, she instinctively took a step back.

"Come here, I need to speak to you."

The slightly cold male voice spoke.

Stunned, Ming Qu turned around,grabbing Ah Ying's hand, and followed her out of the room.

She was brought to another room. Hearing the sound of the door closing, she unconsciously shrank her shoulders.

She was standing before someone patted her shoulders, sitting her down on the soft sofa.

"Since you don't remember your name, I'll give you one. You will be Chun'er, surnamed Gu."

His voice was clear and magnetic.

Listening to the sound of his voice put Ming Qu in a daze.

A pair of warm hands covered her own trembling hands.

"Are you afraid?"

"No, I'm not."

Looking at her pure face, a hint of heartache crossed Gu Yuzhen's callous face

What kind of cruel person would do such a vicious thing?

It was one thing to slash her eyes blind, but they still had to stab her heart.

Fortunately, the dagger was a little off its mark. Otherwise, even if he had a godly doctor, he would not have been able to save her.

"The last time we spoke, didn't you say that you wanted to thank me? Now you have a chance."

"Mr. Gu, please, anything you say. As long as... as long as I can do it."

Looking at Ming Qu, who was nodding her head vigorously, Gu Yuzhen pursed his thin lips. After a while he said, "There will be an elder coming to this house, but my sister has run away from home and we have temporarily lost contact with her. As such, I need you to pretend to be her."

His words gave Ming Qu both comfort and melancholy.

After all, he was the one who had saved her, but it was not easy for her to deal with being blind.

However, Gu Yuzhen's next words would make her overjoyed.

"I'll get someone to speed up the development of a drug to treat your eyes."

Ming Qu's eyes felt hot, and two drops of tears rolled down her cheeks. Her dry lips squirmed for a while, but she was speechless.

Not long after this, she would begin to have someone around her twenty-four hours a day, providing for all of her needs. They guided her around, from the room to the entire house, and then to the outer courtyard to bask in the sun.

It was late in autumn, so she wore warm clothes and often sat on a bench in the courtyard, taking in the fresh breath of nature.

Occasionally, she would have a chat with the servants who were taking care of her, where she would come to learn that Mr. Gu was an extraordinary person.

He was like a god in the financial circle, and his friends were all top-notch bigwigs in upper-class society.

Not long after, the peaceful days had passed, and the elder that Gu Yuzhen had mentioned arrived.

Prior to this, a doctor had managed to replace Ming Qu's damaged corneas, however, she was yet to be able to see as they were still unreactive to light. 

On the day of the old lady's arrival, Ming Qu put on Second Miss Gu's clothes, and was accompanied by a servant to the door to welcome Gu Yuzhen.

"Ah Zhen, is this Chun'er? Why has she grown taller?"

Upon hearing this question, Ming Qu started to become uneasy.
