15 Meeting Gu Yuzhen on a Blind Date

"Mom, I'm about to get married. Ming Qu doesn't even have a boyfriend even though there's not much difference in our age gap."

Ming Qu was just about to head upstairs to her room after dinner when Ming Lai spoke, purposefully raising her voice.

She retracted her foot which had been positioned to leave. She turned around to look at her sister, who was two years older than her.

"How can I help it when my sister is such a beauty? I'm only plain and unlikable."

"..."

Ming Lai had nothing to say and could only grit her teeth.

She turned around gracefully, but was stopped by Mother Ming. "Qu'er, come here."

Ming Qu took a deep breath before returning with a smile.

The family sat down on the living room sofa. Mother Ming had brought over some fruits after dinner. Ming Qu didn't have an appetite, and only looked at them.

"I've asked someone to find out about the second master of the Lin family. The young man is handsome and talented. He's also from abroad."

"Mom, do you really want to marry me off?"

Her tone was venomous as she looked at Mother Ming with a smile in her eyes.

"You are already 21 years old. You don't read books, and you don't have any skills. It would be better if you found a partner and started a family as soon as possible."

"That's fine. You are my mom. You make the decisions."

She didn't stay any longer and got up to leave.

Behind her, Ming Lai and her mother looked at each other, exchanging a grim look.

The next day, before Ming Qu had even woken up, there was a knock on the door.

Opening the door, she found Ming Lai standing outside, who tossed a dress directly at her.

"I just bought it. Mother said that when you go out, you represent the Ming family. We can't have you dragging down our family name."

Saying that, she turned around and left.

Ming Qu stood for a moment before pulling her clothes off over her head, slamming the door shut behind her with a bang.

She appeared right on time at nine in the morning at the address given to her by Ming Lai.

From the moment she appeared, a pair of eyes stared intently at her.

"Ming Qu."

Ming Qu found her way to her designated dining table, where a man was already sat waiting.

She confirmed her name, and took a seat across from him.

The man seated in front of her was dressed in a blue and green suit, and there was a hint of childlike naivety to him.

She sat down, and there was a pause before he finally spoke. "You're Ming Lai's sister?"

"Sort of."

"You look different. Did the two of you come from different mothers?"

"You can tell? Good eyes."

The man seemed serious, but Ming Qu took a playful tone.

"Lin Runnan."

"Right."

The man introduced himself. Ming Qu raised her eyebrows as she nodded.

She had looked into the second master of the Lin family before she came.

Gaming prodigy. He dropped out of MIT and started his own business at the age of 23. As of now, he had already established a gaming company in Tong City.

"You know me?"

"Chief Lin, who wouldn't?"

"You play games?"

"Not interested."

Her indifference successfully piqued the man's interest.

As Lin Runnan took a sip of red wine, his peach-colored eyes never left her face.

"Has anyone told you that your eyes are stunning?"

"No, you're the first. However, these aren't my eyes."

"Oh?"

"You're here for a blind date today Chief Lin. Shall we get to the point?"

"There's no need for a blind date. I'm very satisfied."

"I'm not."

Ming Qu's two words almost caused the man to choke to death on a mouthful of red wine.

"Someone like me actually... isn't good enough for you?"

Lin Runnan fumbled to regain his dignity. He felt a black shadow brush past, as he was suddenly met by a pair of cold eyes.

The person who arrived sat directly beside Ming Qu. His presence was so overwhelming that he was speechless for a long time.

Ming Qu had not expected to see Gu Yuzhen again after she had returned to Tong City.

From the corner of her eye, she had caught a glimpse of the man as he entered just now. She had thought he was somewhat familiar, but she had not expected him to walk straight towards her.

"He is…?"

They were supposed to be on a blind date, but now there were three of them.

"A good friend."

"Boyfriend."

The two of them said in unison.

Ming Qu's petite face turned red. She wanted to explain, but Gu Yuzhen had already dragged her away.

She had not expected this man to suddenly appear and disrupt her plans.

She was walked out of the restaurant. Just as she was about to shake off his grip, he grabbed her shoulders, pressing her against a wall. He lowered his head and kissed her.

Ming Qu's head went blank. As she opened her eyes, she saw Lin Runnan, who had chased after them, standing frozen.
