29 Chapter 29: Trial of Whiskers

After falling victim to the zombie’s attacks and nearly drowning to death, Montez finally woke up from his painful slumber. With his damp body leaned up against the bottom of a tree, he slowly opened his eyes and groaned in discomfort. Mason, who was sitting next to him, looked over to see Montez starting to regain consciousness.

“Oh, thank God. I thought you were a goner there for a while,” Mason claimed as he continued to eat an apple he grew from the tree above them.

“Ow… what… what happened?” Montez asked, feeling the effects of his underwater expedition.

“Well, when you went down in the lake to get the stone, I got attacked by a family of zombies and had to pull you to safety before we were eaten,” Mason recalled, calming chewing the side of his apple.

Montez leaned his body forward and brought his knees to his chest. “Wait, you saved me?” Montez asked, unsure of how he managed to make it out of that situation alive. Mason nodded his head.
