28 The Rescue

23rd June, 1943:

"So.. anybody know where the base actually is? Coz I just came because I wanted to rescue them. Not because I actually knew where I had to go." I say, after we've hashed out a plan.

Basically, Stark was going to get as close as possible, and we were going to drop down using parachutes. Thank God, we had them.

"It's in Krausberg." Stark says. Turning back to us, he adds, "Don't worry, I know where I'm going."

"You two are going to be in trouble, when you go back." Steve says, frowning at Peggy.

Peggy simply asks, "And you won't?"

I ignore their sexual tension, and expand the range of my Telepathy to see if we're close. I get a ping, with close to 500 minds, about 15 miles in the direction we're going in. We'll reach there in a few minutes at the speed were going.

"So.. are you two.. do you.. fondue?" Steve asks, bringing me back and making me groan immediately.

By all the Gods, he's bad at talking with girls.

"Steve, please for my sake, stop talking. You're embarrassing me." I say, holding my head in my hands.

"What? What did I say?" Steve asks, as even Peggy leaves us to go towards Stark.

Taking something from the cockpit, she hands it to Steve, and says, "This is your transponder. Press this button when you're ready, and the signal will lead us straight to you."

"Has it been tested?" Steve asks, not willing to trust a piece of tech to bring him home.

"More than you, pal. More than you." Stark says, chuckling a bit.

I jump up suddenly, and less than a second later, our plane gets fired upon. Walking towards the back door, I shout over the noise of the wind, "As soon as we're out, turn around!"

Peggy yells back, "Get back here, Sgt! We're taking you all the way in!"

Steve shakes his head, joining me, and says, "Do as he says Peggy!"

"You can't give me orders!"

"The hell I can't! I'm a Captain!"

Waiting a second after Steve jumps off, I smirk at Peggy, wear my goggles and say, "I'll protect him, Agent. You don't have to worry!"

Before she can say anything, I jump out of the plane, dodging the shells fired at the plane by moving in the wind. Seeing Steve move away from me, I deploy the parachute, to distract the Hydra goons, and fly down to the ground under my own powers.

Landing down softly on the branch of a tall tree, I stay silent and look up. The bag, along with the parachute was Swiss cheese by now, thanks to the machine gun fire, while Steve safely landed a couple miles away from me.

There was no one there a hundred yards around me though. So, I drop down, and begin my trek towards the direction of the base, knowing that Steve will go there too.

I should have just flown off after him. That moron has one gun with him.

It takes me 20 minutes of walking to get closer to Steve. While walking, I come across a few teams of border patrol, whom I kill before they even knew I was there. He was behind a rock, waiting for a supply truck to pass.

Stopping behind him, I whisper, "Steve!"

He immediately turns back and points his gun at me, but thankfully, does not fire. "What took you so long?" he asks, whispering back.

"First of all, you're welcome. You only got saved from becoming shredded because of me. Second of all, I was dropped 4 miles south of here. I had to dodge all the sentries. Or kill them." I whisper, getting irritated, but knowing that it's a self defence mechanism from him.

Steve looks properly chagrined, and says, "Sorry."

"Nevermind." I say, and point down the road, where a couple trucks were coming straight for the base. "Your ride is here. Now remember, I'll create the chaos, plant bombs, you save our guys. I'll meet you back out in twenty five."

Steve nods, so I turn away from him and go towards the East gate. I'm not going with him, as both of us going together might just make everything worse.

Settling down on a high branch, I enter the Astral Plane, and float towards the base. One thing I had noticed about the Astral plane, is that the more your understanding over time is, the more you can control the flow of time, in the Astral plane.

This was why the Ancient One could slow down time to a crawl when she was dying, and even when she pushed Dr Strange's soul out of his body. Me? I could only do it half the speed for now.

So, using my Astral form, I scout the whole base, and even copy the knowledge of Arnim Zola, who was making weapons out of the Tesseract energy. I do see the Tesseract, but it's not time to mess with it yet.

Memorizing the base layout, along with the locations of different Hydra Bases around Europe, I come back to my body, and float down, going towards the Weapons cache, while being invisible for literally everyone there. Telepathy and disillusionment baby.

Killing the guard, by breaking his neck, I pull his body inside the Weapons room, and hide it in a corner. Checking over the few different kinds of guns they had, I send a few back home, in my room and call through the portal, "Tobey! Keep this stuff safe for me until I get home! Keep it somewhere outside the house, but inside the wards! And tell the girls I've told them not to mess with it yet. They're dangerous." Obviously, I'd cast the Muffliato charm first.

"Yes, Master Mason!" Tobey says, snapping his fingers.

I'd sent 3 of each; pistols, rifles, machine guns, and even a few grenades, and bombs. All of them powered by the Tesseract. I have no idea what I'm gonna do with them, but better have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

I just hope Tobey keeps them safe.

Anyway, taking many of those bombs, I start placing them around the place. It barely takes me 5 minutes of doing all that invisibly, and I'm ready to go out of the base. Checking up on Steve, I see that he's just entered the Prison cells, and is rescuing them.

Leaving him to do his job, I take another of the bombs, and using a portal, make it explode in a crowded room in the western part of the base, killing more than 20 enemies. Chaos begins, as many of the soldiers run around, and towards the explosion, to check on it.

Leaving them to panic, I walk to the south, and look at a man standing there, right in the middle, without a care in the world. But, somehow, no one else could see him. He was simply watching the Hydra soldiers run around like chicken, with a confused look on his face.

Tapping him on his shoulder, I put a finger on my lips. I simply mouth, "Come here." And point to the exit. He nods, but points his wand at me. Yup, a wizard. And I already knew who he was.

Stefan Kohler. A lieutenant of Gellart Grindelwald. While he was one of the weakest of the Lieutenants, he was still, a Lieutenant. So he must be at least a bit strong.

"So.. I thought Grindelwald was working Hitler around Europe. What does he want with Hydra?" I ask, once we're outside and far enough away from the base. All the while, Kohler has his wand pointed at me.

Kohler speaks in a German accent, "Hydra is playing with stuff they do not understand, calling it science. Gellart saw the destruction they can bring, and sent me to make sure nothing like that happens."

Tesseract. And look at Grindelwald, acting as if he's doing it for the Greater Good.

"Does he want the Tesseract then?" I ask, folding my hands in front of my chest.

Kohler snorts, and answers, "That is the weapon of the Gods. Even us Wizards are not suited to handle it. I'm here to kill everyone if necessary."

Okay, that was enough. With a flick of my hand, I summon my wand to my hand, shield from the incoming stupefy, and smirk at Kohler. I say, "I would have let you go, but you work for Grindelwald. Sorry mate."

Kohler laughs, and replies, "You? A child, defeat me?"

"Buddy, you're already dead. You just don't know it yet." I calmly say, and fire a bombarda at his chest.

He summons a Protego shield, but the force behind my spell, thanks to my upgrades, sends him a few feet back.

As soon as I'd fired the first spell, I summon a few dozen snakes, and say, ~~Kill him.~~

"A Parselmouth?!" Kohler says, surprised at my ability, but transfiguring a few dogs to take care of the snakes.

Smirking, I simply keep firing spells at him which he shields against with a stronger shield this time.

Surprising me with his speed, Kohler twitches his shield to send my own Lacero back at me, which I step aside to dodge, followed by a killing curse.

Rolling my eyes, I summon a rock from the side with my left hand in the way of the curse, and transfigure the debris into stone daggers.

"Depulso!" I whisper, for additional effect, and banish them at Kohler.

He was slowly stepping back, hoping to get out of the wards I'd erected wandlessly before the fight began. Not willing to let him escape, as he knows my secret, I summon his shoe with my left hand, while I fire, "Incendio." With my wand, at his wand arm.

He trips, and falls down because of my accio, but manages to get a shield up stopping the fire making charm.

Okay, this tells me that I can take Gellart's weakest Lieutenant at least. So, I simply use the ground below Kohler, as he was still sitting down from tripping, and stab him in his chest with a spike made of rock.

"H- how?" Kohler asks, coughing up blood.

"Yes, listen closely while I explain my entire plan, strenghts, weaknesses and where I see myself in five years." I say, and fire a Lacero at his neck, beheading him.

(Edit: A/N: This fight was tougher than he would have due to several reasons. He was holding his other abilities back, so that he could see if he can defeat Grindelwald's Lieutenant in single combat, using just magic.

Next, he has full control over the functions of his brain, meaning he can just shut off the superior instincts he has gotten from the SSS. And lastly, his opponent was the Lieutenant of Grindelwald, the Dark Lord who almost took over the world. He's bound to be strong.)

I'd already gotten everything I wanted from his head anyway. Burning the body, I think on what I've just learned from Kohler, while waving my hand to repair the damage done. No sign that two wizards fought, or a dozen snakes killed and got killed by 5 dogs. Nope, no sign at all.

Grindelwald is afraid of the Tesseract, and wants to make sure the Wizards never learn of it. He must have Seen something. Divination, remember?

Conjuring a piece of paper, I write down a few details about where Grindelwald was going to target next, and who this man is. I also write a letter to go along with it.

Opening a portal to the Aves Manor, I float the body through, and call out, "Dorea?! Are you here?"

"COMING!" Dorea shouts. She'd practically moved in with me. Except for the fact that I don't live there nowadays.

Before she comes down, I conjure a cloth around the body, and wait. It barely takes half a minute, for Dorea to come down, and kiss me. Kissing her back, I grope her, taking my fill for the days I've been away.

Separating a bit, I say, "Okay, I don't have much time, I need to go back within a minute. I need you to take this body to the Ministry, and give Alastor Moody, this letter. Okay? Only him, or Theseus Scamander, alright? Gotta go, bye." I kiss her once more as she nods and run towards the portal.

As soon as I get there, I check on Steve with my telepathy, and see that he was just rescuing Bucky. Knowing he'll reach outside in time, I start the explosions with a press of a switch in my hands.

"BOOM!!" An explosion occurs in the south side, where I am, right in front of me, as the room on my 1 o'clock on the ground floor explodes.

A few other such explosions occur as I start running towards the north gate, where the 107th Infantry Division was wrecking havoc on the Hydra forces. Joining them, I begin firing my own guns at Hydra, a pistol in each hand.

Ducking down, I kick a goon who dared to swipe a dagger at my neck, and shoot him while he's in the air.

"And who're you supposed to be?!" An English guy asks, looking at the flag of England on my Uniform. He does not stop attacking Hydra though.

"I'm the bloody Knight in shining Armour, cunts." I say, smirking at the man I know to be James Falsworth.

I see a few of the newly rescued soldiers taking over the fucking big Panzers, while a few others destroy another Panzer. Pulling Falsworth down, I fire at the Hydra goon who was about to fire at him with a machine gun.

"Thanks mate." Falsworth says. And we resume our attack as we move to leave the base.

It takes 15 minutes, after I'd come to the North gate, for the 400+ soldiers to kill every Hydra agent they saw, while I killed the ones they didn't see. Soon, even Steve and his buddy, Bucky, joined us.

I see a plane leaving through the top of the base, telling us that Schmidt escaped, along with Zola, who took the car. I wanted to capture him now, but that will make things more unpredictable for me in the long run, si I let him escape.

But, I still had his knowledge, and his plans, right in my head, in a book labelled, "Evil plans of Arnim Zola."

And, the good news is, we rescued more soldiers than we'd thought possible! Steve alone would have rescued about 400 soldiers, the rest dying during the escape. With me there, while some brave soldiers still died, defending their allies, I'd counted 520 souls in all. A good thing I'd say.

Getting clear of the enemies, we set up camp, after walking a few miles towards our base in the border of Austria and Italy. These people needed the rest, even if it's just for a few minutes.

Making a decision, which I was thinking on for a long while, I say, "Jones! Show me that arm!"

Gabe Jones, a Black man, from America who was sitting with the friends he'd made while imprisoned, looks at me weirdly, and shows his arm to me. I hold his hand in my left, showing the bullet wound on his forearm, and hold my right hand an inch above the wound, which had been wound shut using a cloth piece. The bullet had already been removed.

"Please work, please work." I mumble to myself, focusing on my healing factor to get stronger, and the Chi within me to help transfer it.

I close my eyes, as the 30 something soldiers around me look weirdly, including Steve, who was chatting with Bucky.

Slowly, but surely, I feel the connection to the weird Dimension, which I somehow know to be called Solheim, widen and I feel it's energy flow into the palm of my hand.

Opening my right eye, keeping my left eye close, I see and almost lose concentration, as a lot of people gasp in shock, and amazement.

My right palm was glowing yellow and green, and the energy within my palm was going into Jones's arm, healing the wound. Within 5 seconds, the Chi, and the Healing energy, heal the wound completely.

"What the hell was that Sgt?!" Jones asks, looking at his healed arm. Only a scar remained, to show that he was ever shot.

"Mason?" Steve speaks up, as even he was a bit weirded out, and amazed by the ability I just showed him.

"IT WORKED!" I exclaim out, shocked myself. Looking at the weirded out people around me, I answer, "You know how Steve was made stronger using the Government's money, and some serum?"

Most of the people nod, as they'd known about Captain America's crusade to sell War bonds.

I say, "He wasn't the only one. I was also enhanced, the same way. Only, the effects were a bit extra for me."

"Different? You just bloody filled the hole in his arm!" Falsworth exclaims, butting in.

"That's it. While we're both stronger than normal people, my additional ability is that I heal fast. Very fast." I say, and show them an example by cutting into my arm and they see as it heals quickly. I add, "This is the first time I did it to someone other than me, and there's bound to be a limit. Any more questions?"

A few soldiers look at Jones with suspicion, thinking he'll just get up and start killing everyone or something, while nost were wary of me and Steve.

This was a great risk that I took, and if they decide they want to turn me in, I'll simply erase their memories if me healing Jones, and slowly move out of their lives. Thankfully, I don't have to do that.

"Thanks." Jones says, giving me his arm to shake. Once I shake it, and nod at him in appreciation, he looks around, and says, "We just got pulled out of Nazi imprisonment, and this is the thanks you give to your rescuers? Just because they're different? Well fuck all of you. He healed me, I'm thanking him. Take this as a blessing this is, and keep your mouths shut about it. If you don't want to be healed, respectfully reject it. But, don't look a gift horse in the mouth."

Well, technically speaking, you should always look a gift horse in the mouth. Ask the Trojans. They'll will tell you that.

"Can you heal my cut?" a brave soldier asks, in a Canadian accent. As he comes forward, I see that the cut goes near his throat, and could infect him.

Nodding at him, I once more focus, and heal him. This time, it takes a bit less time than filling a hole.

"Thanks Sgt." The Canadian says, and goes back to sit down.

Looking at the slowly approaching injured, I say, "Relax people, and slow down. We'll keep moving in a while, and I'll heal as much as I can, as we go. Staying here long won't help us, so I obviously can't heal everyone here. So, bring me to anyone who's on the risk of dying if they don't get immediate medical attention. I'll heal them first, in case this ability of mine has a limit."

Gabe Jones takes charge, with Falsworth and Dugan joining him, and a few others go around too, to scout out the worst of the patients, as we begin walking. While I begin healing the ones closest first.

"Hey, Sarge!" Morita shouts. Turning to him, I nod my head at him, so he explains, "Hardy over there was stabbed in the guts. While he's stitched it up, he's bleeding through the stitches!"

Dropping the smaller wound that I was healing, I yell, "Sorry, mate!" and hear, "No, he needs it more!" as I run behind Morita towards whoever Hardy is.

30 miles and about 500 patients to go. This is going to be a long journey.

---

A/N: Okay, here me out. He can explain his healing ability as his mutation, that activated when he was hit with the Vita rays. He isn't breaking the statute, as mutants do exist, and he is actually a mutant.

How the Government will react when he goes missing, and when he walks back into the base, with almost everyone all healed up? You'll see.

I've decided. Again. I think, for the last time.

The Uniform will be from Assassin's Creed, you'll see which in the Paragraph Comments.

The swords, are going to be Elven Swords from Lord of the Rings. Image in the paragraph comments.

While I like Chokuto more, Japan is currently the enemy, so no one will take him seriously if he's using Japanese swords. As for British swords, to keep up with the Knight image?

No offense, but British swords just don't appeal to me. Neither do Indian swords, or I'd have taken them, but I'm humble enough to admit that Indian and British swords are not my style.

Name. I'm still not sure about this. Does he even need a name right now? For now, I'll just go with the Knight in shining armour joke, like Cap is called Star sprangled man.

His nickname will be revealed later. And his super name will be announced (decided) when he gets to Avengers time.

Kohler is an OC lieutenant of Grindelwald. I only brought him, because Gellart does not seem like a person to keep a wild card like Hydra unchecked.

And I wanted Mason to have a fight with a wizard. Comment on the wizarding fight and tell me what I can improve, please.

Tata!
