48 Chapter 48: Roles reversed

Shocked, Liz couldn't dodge the kick as she flew a distance. She froze the ground under her, managing to stop her from crashing. But, before she could regain her balance, Lyndel attacked her with numerous dark energy balls, which had already filled the sky.

Liz watched in horror as the balls attacked her simultaneously. She screamed as the balls attacked all her vital points rendering her unable to move.

Lyndel smirked as she said, "Weak humans... Do you all think you can kill me that easily?"

Right then, in lightning speed, Freya attacked Lyndel. Her hands forming a lighting ball as she attacked her with her power as well as slashed the demon with her dagger.

Her dagger glowed slightly as it made cuts in her body.

Lyndel smirked as she raised her claws against this troublesome human. They exchanged blows in a speed invisible to the naked eye.

But, as Freya had already suffered internal damage, she couldn't hold on to the speed for a long time. Her attacks gradually slowed down accompanied by her slow breathing.

Lyndel laughed as she dodged one attack and slashed her claws against Freya's abdomen. A huge claw-like impression was made on her abdomen as Freya coughed blood.

She staggered as she called out in her mind, 'I don't think I would be able to hold on.'

Lyndel appeared right before her and caught her throat. She lifted Freya to the air as Freya struggled to free from her grip.

"Freya!!!"

Voices echoed from all sides as they watched on helplessly. Every member on the field couldn't muster enough strength to get back up and rush towards Freya.

Suddenly, a powerful slash of dark energy was directed from behind towards Lyndel.

Lyndel who didn't notice the upcoming danger was stunned when she felt pain all over her body. That slash managed to cut her arm off neatly.

Freya's eyes widened as black blood spurted on her face. The arm around her neck loosened as she staggered backwards, coughing.

She looked up to see Lyndel screaming in pain and madly rush towards Usui, who had fallen to his knees holding onto his sword which was buried into the ground.

Usui looked up haggard and panted heavily before his eyes focused on those ocean blue eyes. He flashed a smile as he saw Freya staring at him worriedly.

'Well..it looks like I would die without even confessing to my woman.' he thought.

Black Thunder retorted, 'You are still worried about that. What about me?'

'Well, you could get a new owner anytime soon.'

After a moment, Usui continued, 'Oh! What Oliver said was true!'

He could feel the sword snorting at him, 'It's all because of your brainless actions.'

Usui laughed as if he was numb to what was happening around him.

Lyndel reached him and was about to strike him down when his claw was blocked by a dagger.

"You blockhead..! Who asked you to interfere?!" she berated him helplessly before she tightened her hold on her dagger and pushed Lyndel away.

Freya looked like a mother hen protecting its child as she stood protectively in front of Usui.

Usui grimaced as he commented, "Why are the roles reversed in our case?"

Freya sneered, "Because you can be quite a handful."

Lyndel glared at her before she turned to look at the pale boy, who was barely standing up.

"Tch! he doesn't have much strength and he dared to attack me. Does he have a death wish?" she angrily spatted.

Freya narrowed her eyes as she kicked Lyndel and drew a cut onto her waist, successfully distracting Lyndel from him.

Freya could see from the corner of her eyes on how Usui was struggling to maintain his stance. She glared at him, warning him before she attacked Lyndel with all her strength.

Usui struggled to get onto the field to save his woman but he was held back by one of his guards.

He glowered at the guard who was stopping him but the guard said, "I'm sorry, Prince Usui. I will take on the punishment but I can't allow you to join in the battle with your current body state."

Usui gritted his teeth as he shouted, "Let go!!"

He couldn't watch when the demon's claw was wrapped around his woman's tiny neck. It felt like it could snap with just a little amount of strength...

"I'm sorry... even general Freya wouldn't want you to get onto the battle." his personal guard responded calmly.

Usui closed his eyes as he could feel the blood rush to his head. He knew he had pushed his body to its limits. He coughed blood promptly as his guard caught hold of him.

"Zelal" Usui murmured.

The guard looked over and noticed Zelal trying to get up to his feet. The guard ordered his underlings to go over and help the prince.

"He's okay now." the guard comforted the prince. He couldn't help but sigh at this pair of brothers. The younger one was always a magnet for trouble but recently his royal Prince started to give him a headache as well.

Lyndel caught hold of her arm, kicked Freya in her gut. Freya coughed blood as she received another kick onto her body. She crashed against the rocks but tried getting up.

Freya glared at Lyndel hatefully which sparked Lyndell's interest.

"My! My! I can't help but want to gouge out those blue eyes. " she commented.

Freya's lips curled at the ends as she snorted.

Lyndel picked her up and strangled her.

"Mask girl, I will chop your body to pieces, right before your eyes and devour your soul right before the people you love. I will show them how their courageous knight ended up when she insisted to fight. This can be a warning to all the kingdoms to stop retaliating against us, demons."

Freya smirked which angered the demon.

Lyndel tightened her grip over her neck which made Freya splurt more blood.

At that moment,

"Scrrrrrreeeeeeechhh!!!!!!!!"

A loud cry echoed in the field, making Freya smile more.

"I guess you have to wait for that chance in your next life."
