7 Fighting Rogue Robots and Explanation

The first thing that happened was 5 or so Iron Sentries bursting through the glass behind Ultron. They each charged at the forefront of the group, picking off targets. Well, four of them did. The fifth one came straight at me.

Though it didn't seem aggressive. More like it was trying to pacify me.

But I didn't give it a chance, ignoring the others who tried to protect me, I threw myself at the robot. I aimed for it's outstretched arm, slicing through the joint that connected the shoulder and the arm with my claws. My claws didn't meet any resistance and the arm came off without a hitch. Relying on my instincts, I zoomed past the robot before using my momentum to spin around and completely destroy it's head with the arm I was holding.

The sentry couldn't react in time and it's own arm slammed into the side of it's head, both pieces of metal collapsing under the power of the blow.

I felt my heart beat start to speed up, exiting it's usual slow, rhythmic beats. This wasn't out of exhaustion but rather, out of something similar to a bestial urge to work harder and decimate my foes. I'd done tests and it seemed to be my new body's way of getting into a battle ready mode. Or a mode for anything physical, really.

I felt a grin spread across my face as another Iron Sentry flew at me, this time in a battle-ready stance.

"I don't want to hurt you, Dr. Morbius," I heard Ultron's voice but all that came out of my mouth in reply was an inhuman growl before I charged to meet the Sentry's flight.

The serum, if it wasn't already apparent, had changed much more than my body. My personality had been affected, just like my overall mentality and instincts had. I wasn't the same Michael as I was before I took the cure. I was different in subtle, yet noticeable ways. Before, I would have wanted to stay away from the fight, even if I had the power to fight. But right now? I felt my body urging me to fight.

It's to be expected, however. I had merged my DNA with that of a Bat - an animal. Who knows what weird bat behaviors I'd be capable of showing. Most Bat's a predatory in nature, apart from ones that feed on fruit. So the instincts I'd been 'gifted' are also that of a predator's.

The robot lifted it's hands, fitted with repulsors, and fired two straight at my torso.

However, what it wasn't expecting, or rather, what Ultron wasn't expecting, was that I just charge straight into the shots and not even flinch as they blasted through me. Usually, repulsor blasts would fire people backward. But if they had enough momentum, it would just push through them. Like right now, I had enough momentum to ignore the blasts and continue running.

The trade-off being the holes it would blowing out in the places it hit.

But I didn't care. A benefit to my new physique's battle mode? A lot of adrenaline, or special adrenaline seeing as my body works differently than a normal human's, is pumped into my system, practically giving me pain immunity for a short while. Even the holes didn't matter to me. I could already feel my healing factor kicking in and healing the them. Though the white shirt I was wearing would probably never be the same again - because of the burnt holes and the slight blood splattering over it.

Anyway, I finished my charge at the sentry and sent lightning fast claw swipes at it's arms, slicing them off before I drew a fist back, retracted my claws and curled my hand into a fist before smiling viciously and sending out a blurry punch.

The originally hard metal crumbled like tin foil under the punch, and the arm-less torso of the sentry caved in before the internal pressure caused the head to pop off as the body was sent rocketing backward toward Ultron. Unfortunately, the malformed Ultron just lifted his own repulsor and made the sentry-turned-projectile curve away from him with a few well-timed mini-repulsor blasts aimed at precise locations on the flying robot.

Clicking my tongue, I flexed my leg muscles to the max and shot off toward Ultron, the ground cracking with an audible sound as I pushed off of it.

My strength was hard to quantify, honestly. I'd lifted a car that weighed a few thousand pounds without much struggle and I even managed to lift up one half of a public transit bus when I put my back into it. I was gonna try and see if I could lift the whole thing but I was nearly caught and I hadn't tried again since. Those things weigh around 30,000+ lbs. So lifting half of one without trying my hardest should say something about my strength, right?

But as I was about to grab him, three more sentries burst through the glass behind him. Two of them grabbed an arm, while the third flew off somewhere. If I had my thoughts right, it was heading for the lab where the scepter was.

My momentum was crushed by the two sentries and I was sent flying back with them, "Calm down, Dr. Morbius. I really do not wish to hurt you," Ultron's voice came from the other side of the room as the sentries pressed me against the floor, my arms pinned down under their mechanical strength and their metal bodies.

"Get OFF!" I roared, angering filling my tone as I flung a knee up at one of the sentry's heads, crushing the metal and making it's lights go out as it was sent flying.

Using my momentum, I flipped my body backward, though under my vicious movements and the sentry's hold on my arm, I felt my shoulder dislocate and twist out of it's socket. I didn't feel the pain but the sensation was uncomfortable anyway, with my brain screaming that my shoulder doing that wasn't natural.

But I didn't care.

I pulled my twisted arm out of the sentry's grip and slashed at it ferociously with my free, uninjured hand. My claws rend their way through the metal, leaving 5 slash marks diagonally across the sentry's torso. Electrical sparks flew out of the 'injuries' on the robot, like blood out of a human's, and the half of it's body above the broken area fell backward as it's structural support failed it.

I grabbed my arm and with an uncomfortable twist and push, I pushed my arm and shoulder back into their proper places. I felt my healing factor kick in quickly enough and secured the joint once more, letting me know it was now healed.

Stretching the joint a little, I pushed through the feeling of newness and looked toward Ultron, readying for another charge. But my echolocation picked something up and I turned to a far off corner of the penthouse.

I saw the Asian Doctor who worked with the Avengers. Helen Cho. She looked terrified as a broken sentry floated up and raised a repulsor at her.

The repulsor wouldn't kill her. It'd simply knock her back and knock her out. She'd probably break a few bones but she'd be fine. What she wouldn't be fine after, however, was being pushed through the glass window behind her and falling a few hundred meters to a concrete welcoming party.

I took one look at Ultron before charging in the direction of Helen. I pushed every little bit of speed out of my body and the ground cracked under each of my steps.

Looking around, everything seemed to be moving much slower than it had before and I quickly realized that every one of the avengers was slower than me, so I knew I was the only one who could react to Helen's predicament. Steve and Thor were near her but I didn't know if they'd seen she was in trouble yet. I wouldn't take a risk with another person's life.

I arrived soon enough and I put a claws hand through the sentry's head, making it's arms go limp at it's side. I looked to see if Helen was fine and she was, but she was still looking at me and my clawed hand and fanged appearance with a slight amount of fear. But she still nodded in gratitude with was nice of her.

Getting my hand free I turned around to see Steve and Thor looking at me wearily but I just smiled and raised my hands, retracting both my claws and fangs, "Don't worry, I'm on your side. I'll explain after all this calms down, okay?" I said with a friendly tone, trying to show them I wasn't a monster or something. They seemed to agree as they lost their battle-ready postures and turned around toward Ultron.

While I had been fighting and running around, the others had dealt with the other sentries and all of us were now looking at Ultron. Steve, Thor, and I all walked over to the others and kept our eyes on Ultron.

"Well," Ultron spoke, his voice beginning to fill with sarcasm, "That was dramatic," it said, laughing slightly before walking to the side before suddenly stopping and pivoting towards us, "I'm sorry. I know you mean well, and you just haven't thought it through," Ultron said, waving his broken arm about before pacing back to where he was originally standing, "You wanna protect the world but you don't want it to change!" Ultron said, his voice filled with fanatical belief that I'd never heard from an A.I before. Even Jarvis.

Ultron just stood there, looking from each of us to the next, his dim blue lights flickering like they were about to go out, "How is humanity saved...if it's not allowed to...evolve?" his voice was filled with genuine curiosity, like Ultron wanted to know our answers.

But without giving any of us the chance, Ultron bent over and picked up a broken Iron Sentry at his feet, "With these? Ha!" he gave a disdainful laugh before crushing the head with his hand, "These puppets?" he threw the broken sentry to the ground before turning and pacing about once again, his robot head shaking back and forth as he did.

I saw Tony get up and cautiously move himself, while Steve was moving his way to his shield. Bruce and Natasha were on the upper part of the room, looking down at this. Though I could still see Natasha looking at Bruce, her eyes filled with questioning and Bruce's eyes filled with a mix of shame and reluctance.

"There's only one path to peace, now," it said, their voice grim as they turned to the Avengers, "The extinction of the Avengers," it's voice was filled with a stubborn finality that made me regret my involvement in Ultron's creation.

I had been pushed into it by my fragmented memories showing me that Earth needed as much help as possible if it was going to survive the future. But all that did was threaten the safety of it...Haah~ As they say, one often finds his destiny on the road to avoiding it. I should be more careful in the future.

All I can do now is try to stop this as quickly as possible.

Before I could say anything, however, Thor threw his hammer in anger and it collided with Ultron's body, blowing it to smithereens.

I sighed as I dragged a hand across my face. I would have liked to talk to Ultron - to try and teach him that what he's doing is wrong. He was practically a child right now. He needed to be met with guidance, not force.

. . .

Tony, Bruce and I were all fumbling around our conjoined labs, checking our files.

Luckily, my files on Extremis were still there and left untouched, surprisingly, but anything to do with the development of Ultron? Gone.

"All our work is gone," Bruce leaned against a desk, running his hands through his hair with an expression of disbelief on his face, "Ultron just cleared out...used the internet as an escape hatch," he closed his eyes before sighing and then looking at Tony who was right next to one of the destroyed Iron Sentries that we'd brought to the lab in the hopes of tracking Ultron down.

"He's been through everything," Natasha shook her head as she looked through our online storage, "Files, surveillance - he probably knows more about us than we know about each other..." she finished, turning around and looking at each of us with a sincerely worried expression.

"He's left most of my work untouched," I said, gaining the attention of most the people around, "But he has left a note for me, saying...'I hope you take this as a token of my respect and pay it back in full, Dr. Morbius,'," I flicked the message into the air in front of me and everyone looked at it. But in the end, nothing could be gleamed from it.

When Ultron's hacking capabilities were brought up, Rhodey brought up nuclear codes but Natasha quickly shut him down, "Nukes? He said he wanted us dead. Not everyone," but she was soon corrected by Steve.

"He didn't say dead, Natasha...he said extinct," Steve spoke with a worry to his voice that made me know that he was unsettled by what Ultron had said.

Clint leaned against some railings and spoke up, "He also said he'd killed somebody," he said with a grim face, while Maria, who was picking at her feet and removing glass from it, replied to him with a confused face.

"But there wasn't anyone else in the building--"

But she was interrupted by Tony who spoke with a dark and solemn face, "Yes there was," he walked to the center of the room and flicked something from his handheld control device into the air in front of us all.

What I saw shocked me.

It was Jarvis. Or at least what was left of him.

Jarvis' shell was eroded, like a wooden building that had been eaten away at by hundreds of thousands of wood lice. There were parts of blue that had no doubt come from Ultron as well, which were spread over Jarvis lay-out like a rash.

"Oh my god..." I said as I walked over and squatted down and looked over the hologram, "This...this isn't right," I said with narrowed eyes, "Ultron didn't have to do this - an A.I wouldn't do this," I said looking up at Bruce who'd also walked over to have a look. He nodded, pushing up his glasses a little as he carried on my thought process.

"Ultron could have assimilated Jarvis, but this...this isn't strategy," he shook his head as he rubbed his jaw.

"This is savage - like an animal tearing apart another animal to survive," I finished, feeling that I'd added too much human-likeness to Ultron's layout. Bruce must have guessed that was what I was thinking as he tapped my shoulder. I looked up at him and he just shook his head at me, signaling that this wasn't my fault.

...Though it didn't take away from the guilt I did feel for my involvement.

Suddenly, from off to the side, Thor, fully kitted out in his battle armor, walked swiftly toward Tony and grabbed him by the throat and lifted him, charging through the hologram of the 'deceased' Jarvis. Tony grabbed Thor's hand and choked out a quip, "Come on, use your words, buddy!" he spoke in a hoarse tone, his words rushed and choked.

"I have more than enough words to describe you, Stark--!" I interrupted Thor with a hand on his armored arm.

Both of us were around the same height and we met eye to eye. I swept away any indecisiveness I may have had and let my claws and fangs come out as I scowled at Thor, "Let go of my friend, Thor," I pushed down on his arm and the Asgardian's face shook a little as his arm lowered ever so slightly, "Otherwise I'll make you put him down," I growled out a threat as I applied more pressure to my grip, the metal covering Thor's arm creaking and cracking.

I hadn't discovered my limit in terms of strength...and I knew I wasn't anywhere near it just yet!

Thor's eyes met mine and I could see and sense the lightning flashing around in them. But it didn't deter me. I had an unnatural pride that refused to step down as I looked into the Thunder God's eyes, my red eyes under the blue contacts, shining in a sanguine glow.

The Asgardian grunted before he pushed away with his hand and let go of Tony, sending him back a few feet, stumbling over the momentum. Seeing him do this, I gave an instinctive disdainful snort before letting go of his hand and retracting my claws and letting my fangs relax back into their normal positions.

"Michael," Steve said, getting everyone's attention, "You owe us all an explanation."

With that, I nodded, sighed and took out my contact lenses while smiling.

"Where do I start?"
