13 A Built-in Heater

Idris. POV.

"I died" I muttered while I was sitting on the couch in Neena and I's apartment.

"I know. You've been saying that for the past couple of days" She sat with her legs crossed eating some ramen with chop sticks. I just looked at her and she just kept staring at the TV. The Bachelor was on.

"I don't think you understand how life altering this is." I said and picked up some popcorn from the coffee table. She shrugged and slurped some noodles.

"If you keep bitching about it maybe I'll understand." She deadpanned and I just threw some popcorn at her.

"I died and got superstrength. Juggernaut left a dent in my chest that crushed my heart and most of my organs. I was lying on the floor dying and everything went black. A second later I wake up and everything is fine. It just doesn't make any sense." I leaned back into the couch with my arms crossed. She just sighed and turned off the TV and looked at me.

"Look. Maybe your powers just aren't what you think that are. Now shut up and let me watch The Bachelor." She flipped the TV on and kept watching.

Maybe she had a point. Maybe I died the first time I got my powers. I do recall everything going black and then I was fine. I scratched my cheek and stood up pacing.

"I want you to shoot me." Neena looked at me mid bite and just shook her head. "I'm being serious. I have a theory." She put down her noodles and stood up with her hands on her hips.

"Want's the theory?" I smiled and crossed my arms.

"Shoot me and find out." When I said that she pulled out a pistol from the couch and shot me. Right in the heart. The bullet left a hole in my shirt and fell on the floor crushed. I picked it up and examined it. It was perfectly flatted. I felt at my chest and there was no mark, it felt like a mosquito bite. I looked at her with a weird look.

"Since when was there a gun there?" She shrugged and stuffed it back.

"Ever since you moved in. I'm surprised you didn't find it." She walked towards me and examined the hole in my shirt and then the bullet in my hand. "Well, you can check bullet proof off of your super power list."

"The Juggernaut was bulletproof and had super-strength." I whispered in wonder.

"Are you saying since he killed you, you got his powers?" She asked me when I handed her the bullet.

"I'm saying I have them at the same level." She whistled and pocketed the bullet.

"Do you know what this means?"

"It means I'm invulnerable to physical attacks."

"That and we're in the big leagues now, sport" She said with a huge smile.

"Don't call me sport." She threw her arms up and cheered.

"Do you know how many jobs we can get with you, being you? The list is endless" She walked over to her laptop and started scrolling through some things.

"Let's slow down a bit." I grabbed her shoulder, and she looked over at me. "We don't even know if I'm right". She looked back at the laptop then back at me. She nodded and closed the laptop.

"Fine. What do you propose we do?" I smiled and led her back to the couch and sat her down.

"I think, we need to finish this episode. Also look for a new apartment. You did kind of shoot a gun in here." I told her as I sat down and threw some popcorn in my mouth.

This is a bit too much to think about right now.

Magneto. POV.

"I think I misheard you, Mystique. Please repeat yourself." She had just told me that Idris had died and only rose stronger and was able to hold The Juggernaut in a stalemate. This changes things.

"It is as I've said. The Juggernaut caught him and punched him so hard that his fire went out and his chest was caved in. He died and came back better then before. He held back the Juggernaut for one of Xavier's students to take off his helmet. He could be a future threat." Mystique informed me and I could look out the window. To die and come back better was certainly and interesting power.

"It appears your original assumption about his powers were false." She only bowed her head.

"Forgive me, Magneto. I have only seen him use his fire powers." I hummed and just waved her off.

"All is forgiven. Even I could not predict this. To think Charles had lost such a valuable asset. He could make our fight against humankind far easier. Spearhead the fight against humans. Yes, by my side I could groom him to be a suitable weapon." I placed my hand to my chin in a thinking manner. I will have to talk to him myself. "Do you know of his whereabouts?" I turned to look at Mystique.

"I have some idea. Magneto." I floated up and towards her.

"Then please. Lead the way." She nodded and starting walking. Fantastic.

Ororo. POV.

"Charles, I would like to talk about what happened with Idris." I walked into his office and found him looking out the window. When I walked in, he looked startled. Strange. He usually knows when people are approaching his office.

"Ah, Yes. Please come in and sit Ororo." I nodded and sat down in the seat in front of him. We sat there in silence for a few minutes.

"He died, Charles." He just sighed and rubbed his eyes.

"Yes. That he did. It appears we were wrong about his powers."

"Wrong? We were completely incorrect. A power such as his, to not only die but come back stronger than before? A future problem he could be. To us, to the students, to mankind. We need to talk to him." He just nodded and folded his hands under his chin.

"Yes. When I first saw him with Cerebro I only saw him becoming fire. I had thought that was his mutation. It appears his mutation is to mutant. There is no greater stress then death, my friend." I only nodded and rapped my fingers across the table. "He is a danger to us all. We need him on our side. In a controlled environment."

"He will never join us. He doesn't feel welcome here."

"He may not have a choice." I heard Charles say softly and I only looked at him in shock.

"You don't mean that."

"I mean to keep our people safe, Ororo. Human and mutants both. Just as I did with Juggernaut." I snorted and crossed my arms.

"You are a hypocrite. Both you and Magneto are two sides of the same coin. You both think your way is the only way. If someone disagrees with you, then they are your enemy. Well Idris is not mine." I stood up and made for the door.

"Ororo wait."

"No Charles. We cannot control the will of others. Be lucky I care for the students here or else I would leave." Slammed the door behind me and walked back to my room.

"Yo, Aunty O!" I heard from up the stairs and saw Evan, or known as Spyke while on X-men duty.

"Hello Evan." I gave him a gentle smile and he flashed a large one in return.

"You know who the Fire guy was? I asked Jean and Scott about him and they told me to ask you." My smile tightened and I just nodded.

"Yes. I do know him. He was a former student before you all came here. Jean and Scott both were his peers."

"It was pretty cool when he came and started blasting The Juggernaut. Then he held him on his own!" I only looked at him as he explained the story to me. My face was still tight.

"Yes. Very cool." He looked ready to say something but I held my hand up to stop him. "Forgive me, Evan. But today has been a long day and I wish to sleep." He smiled and hugged me.

"Night, Aunty O" He ran down the stairs, probably towards the Danger Room.

"Goodnight Evan. Do not stay up to late!" I yelled the last part but he was already around the corner. I sighed and kept walking up the stairs. Charles continues to sway from the role model he is supposed to be for these students.

If he does not clean up his act, I fear that we may not have a school for the Gifted anymore.

Idris. POV.

I groaned when I woke up to a knock on the door. Food was still on the coffee table and I still had the bowl of popcorn on my lap.

"Fuck me, what time is it?" I pulled out my phone to see 2 A.M "Shit." I tried to get up but I felt Neena's body on my arm slumped. Fuck. I struggled to get up and she was fully wrapped up. "Neena get the fuck off." I pushed her roughly and she groaned and let go.

There was another knock on the door and I cursed. I made my way to the door. I opened it to see the same blue chick from the Danger Room and a old man with a helmet on his head. He still looked strong despite the wrinkles and white hair.

"Can I help you?" The old man smiled and stuck out his hand.

"Very much so." I took his hand and shook it.

"Ok? Still kind of confused about whats going on." I looked at the blue chick. "I never got your name." She had a annoyed look.

"Mystique." I nodded and looked back to the man waiting for him to say his name.

"Magneto." He only eyed me up and down and looked pleased.

"Cool. So about me helping you?" I leaned against the door with my arms crossed.

"Not just me, but our entire species." I raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah, still very vague."

"I would like you to join me in my quest to free mutant kind from underneath the boots of the humans." He formed a fist and had a determined look.

"That's great. But I'm good." I tried to close the door but he stopped me.

"I beg you to reconsider." I glared at him.

"Look I don't know who you are. But I am certain you do not want to get me mad. Now let go of my door and I'll forget this entire conversation." I said roughly and I could see Mystique from the corner of my eye shifting nervously. I only held a stare with Magneto. He relented with a gentle smile.

"Of course. My offer will stand when you change your mind. Our people should stand together as one. Have a good night." He turned and walked towards the elevator.

"You too." I gently closed the door and turned around to see Neena standing up with a gun in her hand.

"Who were they?" She lowered the gun and placed in on the table.

"Some mutant fanatics. Wanted me to join them to make mutants superior or something." She cocked an eyebrow.

"Are you?" I just shook my head and plopped down on the couch.

"Don't plan on it anytime soon." She nodded and sat back down on the couch. I looked at her weirdly.

"You know I'm gonna go to sleep right?" she just nodded. "That kind of means fuck off to your room." She just nuzzled into my arm.

"Don't think so. You're pretty warm." I sighed and leaned back into the couch.

"Unbelievable" She just laughed.

"Shut up. Do you know how many people would pay to be in your position?" I just snorted.

"Trying to sleep and someone is stopping them? None at all" She slapped me on the stomach.

"No. An incredibly attractive woman sleeping on their arm." I chuckled.

"You have a lot of confidence in yourself. I hate to burst your bubble…" She got off and looked at me with a dead look.

"Fine. I am going to my bed. You may or may not be able to join me." I looked at her wide eyed and she noticed it and scoffed. "Dude I'm not trying to sleep with you. It's just cold and you have a built-in heater. It's a win win." She left and went into her room. I heard the door close and I looked around the room at the mess on the table.

It can wait until morning. I stood up and joined Neena in bed.
