20 Chapter 20 Oscorp Part 2/3

15 Spiders with various powers… Now that is tempting. The Logs even gave hints of what the spiders might be able to give. An example being the one that goes invisible making it pretty obvious what power it could have.

Truly tempting but at the same time I wasn't sure if I wanted to use them on myself. There are many negatives associated with the spider powers ranging from the curse that all Spider-Man's seem to have and even those spider totems connected to the web of destiny.

Then there's also the problem of taking multiple bites which seemed risky and foolish. Yeah, there's a slight chance that someone could take in all that power but there's also a higher chance that something goes wrong severely damaging DNA in the process.

Looks like I need to learn more about genetics and also get myself a lab. I thought as I continued memorizing all the information I could.

From how they caused the miracle of the spiders and even the troubles they have gone through trying to recreate it.

Despite being focused on the research notes I never did lose track of Peter as he walked around the lab or more specifically towards the room with the spiders.

I struggled internally with what to do. Preventing the birth of Spider-Man could give me a huge sum of points but at what cost?

Peter was my friend and my favorite comic hero. There was good and bad involved in the decision, if I helped him avoid the spider then most of the tragedies in his life could be avoided.

Yet doing so would also take away his opportunity of being more.

"Hey Peter, mind if I ask you something random?" I called out from across the room

"Yea I don't mind" Peter replied while reading some of the formulas

"If you could be like Captain America would you? And what would you do with that power?"

"Huh that's pretty random but I guess if I was given the choice I'd want to be like him and use my power to help others. It's kind of like what my uncle Ben told me this morning" Peter paused as he focused on the image of a spider on a computer screen

"With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility"

Facing Peter I felt like he changed for a split second and in that moment I thought I saw Spider-Man standing in front of me.

I guess I already know my decision

"And how about you Kol what would you do with power?" Peter asked

"Get rich and have enough kids to fill a football team"

Peter practically tripped hearing this and pushed his glasses up for a moment. Before turning to my smiling face as he realized I was joking with him.

"Haha, I didn't expect to hear tha-Huh!" Peter suddenly stopped talking mid-sentence and rushed over to another door that had the same symbols as earlier.

I made sure I wasn't left behind as I followed him and read the door sign

[Spider Containment Unit]

Looking at each other once we moved in and entered the room.

It differed quite a bit from the one used in The Amazing Spider-Man with the spiders not being loose. Instead, they were all in separate terrariums.

The spiders In particular varied in design as well with them being different colors and sizes from one another.

"Amazing! These spiders don't match any known species that I've seen before." Peter was excited like a kid in a candy store as he watched each spider with great amazement

"Did you know that some spiders can even change colors to blend into their environment. It's a defense mechanism, pretty neat right?"

"Yeah, I guess it's kind of like a chameleon"

Speaking of spiders that are good at hiding, shouldn't there be one around here from that research log?

Walking around I eventually found the terrarium meant to house the invisible spider and noticed how this once had less decoration and foliage compared to the others.

They probably did that to make the spider easier to find, a good choice. Especially since even I can't see it so its hiding capabilities truly are exceptional but luckily I got an idea.

Reaching into my bag I pulled a small bag of sugar used for coffee and sprinkled it inside the terrarium until I noticed a particular silhouette hiding in the corner.

Got you

Using one of my small containers I Quickly scooped it up and slowly made my way behind Peter. Who was focused on a blue and red spider that looked like the one that bit Tobey.

Before slowly dropping it onto his neck

I may have decided that I would keep Peter as Spider-Man but that doesn't mean I couldn't still earn points in this event.

Instead of him being bit by the classic blue and red I instead let him get bit by the one that goes invisible. Who knows what kind of changes this will cause with Peter having new abilities.

"Argh!" Peter exclaimed

"I think something just bit me" Peter was jumping around frantically as he tried to find the perpetrator but had no luck since I had already scooped it up.

"Man, what was that? Kol do you think it was one of the Spiders?"

"Hm maybe we should get out of here who knows how venomous these things are"

"Yeah I guess you're right we still need to see Connors" Peter said as he began to make his way out before turning back

"Huh, aren't you coming?"

"Yea I'm just gonna take some pics real quick I'll meet you outside"

Hearing this Peter made his way out while I looked at the spiders like I had found gold in California.

I began pulling out multiple containers that had holes on the top for breathable air. Then I started scooping up every spider as carefully as I could.

I couldn't wait to buy some genetic knowledge and crack the spider's genetic code.
