49 There is never a 'perfect' plan

[[Marcellus]]

*Drip* *Drop* *Drip* *Drop*

A beaker can leak water because of two reasons.

One, it has a crack somewhere on its surface, or two… someone overfilled it.

In my case, it was the latter.

"This beaker is quite similar to me. I tried to create a 'perfect plan.' A plan with absolutely zero plot holes.

Even then, I failed.

No, don't get me wrong. I didn't fail at what I was trying to achieve. What I failed was 'making a flawless plan.' I thought that no one could outsmart me, no one could figure out my plans and definitely, no one could spy on me. But guess what?

I was wrong!

I totally forgot about the beings who could look through dimensions, the beings who could see the past and future, and the multiverse level beings.

No, that is wrong. I didn't forget about them, but I thought that they would not be interested in a mutant who is not even comparable to dust particles. But, I totally forgot about one thing that almost got me killed.

My reincarnation.

I am a reincarnated person. I still don't know how or why I transmigrated here. But this puts me in the radar of the cosmic level beings.

Well, not even they know about my transmigration. But somehow all my other versions ended up dead… with me being the only alive 'Marcellus Hanley.' This should not be possible according to me, but it was true! I am a near-extinct creature for them… So, they would definitely look into my life.

I made a similar mistake once in the past. And that was when I didn't do my research properly about this world… and it turned out to be the Marvel world. And the second time was when 'Infinity' summoned me.

This proves that no matter how perfect a person thinks his plans are… there will always be at least a single flaw in it. And he will continue to make flaws unless he has omniscience.

In the beginning, I had no goals other than being stronger than the cosmic beings. My current goal is still the same… but I have one added objective. That I must achieve at any cost...

Omniscience, that's what I want to achieve.

Sounds impossible, but it is possible. It will take ages… decades, centuries, or maybe even millennia, but I will achieve it.

*Ring* *Ring*

"Ah, Marcellus. Do you want to watch the live show as I put this guy out of his misery?" He is enjoying himself, that's for sure.

"*Chuckle* No, I have something else to tend to. He is all yours." I have no interest in meeting Edward as I already did my part.

"Alright." He was a tiny bit unhappy with it. "I will *VROOOM* deal with him myself."

*CLICK*

Wait a second. Was that the sound of a chainsaw?

I don't even care at this point… But, I do need to meet Selene.

[[After some time]]

I have never seen this club so… empty. I cleaned up the rest of the members. And only a few of the people who were previously a part of the club are alive.

I made their deaths seem as natural as possible and Selene's compulsion did the rest.

"We will have to start from scratch after this." At first, she wasn't happy that I killed so many members. Killing them means less political support.

But political support has never been my reason for joining the club. It's related to a totally different reason.

"Yes and no." She raised an eyebrow. "I already have a lot of politically strong individuals who are requesting membership of the club."

She nodded.

"And… I have a few people in mind, who can be future candidates for the inner circle." Well, I have already decided the members… but there's no need to tell her about it.

"Are you going to tell me their names?" I smiled at her question.

"As a matter of fact, I will tell you about a member."

"Hoo~ Who is it?" She was curious, and rightfully so. Hellfire Club members were a big deal and the members of the inner circle were even more important.

"You." I said which caused her to make a weird face.

"Of course, what else did I expect? You never answer anyone's questions." She sighed.

True, I don't. I only answer them if they are absolutely necessary.

"Information is power… and I don't like sharing power." She rolled her eyes.

"So what are your plans now?" Despite all the madness, my initial plan hasn't changed.

"I will be arranging a meeting tomorrow in the evening. And that is when you will find out my plans." Only the basic ones related to Hellfire Club, but still plans.

"Alright then… I also have something to discuss. I will do it after the meeting."

I wonder what it is.

[Sebastian Shaw's Mansion]

Sebastian had already disposed the body of Edward. I told him to not reveal it to Edward about me being the mastermind.

I don't want any necromancer to revive him and gather information from the corpse.

Paris is under compulsion and she will be extremely important for tomorrow's meeting.

"So, you still don't want to join the club?" I asked Lourdes and she shook her head.

"No, I don't. I want to live like a normal housewife." Trust me. There are women who want a normal life with her husband over power and fame. Lourdes was one of them.

And I already knew that she wasn't going to accept the position. There is no need to waste a precious seat for an unnecessary character.

Sebastian smiled and kept his hand over hers. "She needs rest. Politics and these fights… will be handled by us." He said looking towards me.

"Fair enough." She nearly died. So it makes sense that he doesn't want to see her getting hurt anytime soon.

"Don't worry. I will make sure that nothing like this ever happens again." It won't be necessary.

"Marcellus." Sebastian looked at me. "From now on remember that I will always be there for you." I already expected this. "You saved me and my lover's life. And in return, I will forever be grateful to you."

I chuckled. "Don't worry about it." I turned to look at Lourdes. "Take care of her and grow strong… strong enough to be able to deal with those threats on your own."

He truly loved Lourdes and I can respect him for that.

Falling in love gives you a weakness… in the form of the person you love. The enemies can exploit this weakness which is never a good thing.

The only way to avoid this by being strong enough to not have to worry about them… or if you don't have the strength, you must be smart enough to outsmart them.

All this can be avoided by not falling in love, but for some people, that's nearly impossible.

"Remember that tomorrow we have an important meeting in the evening." The Hellfire Club will finally be useful to me after this.

"I remember. But what is it about? New members?" That's one of the reasons.

"Yes, but there are more reasons for that… which I will explain tomorrow."

Hellfire Club will change for the good… at least good for me.
