17 A Father's Wrath
[Two days later]
Is my power weakening or does Joel have some sort of mental barrier that prevents mind reading?
Two days ago when I tried reading his mind, I was unable to do it. That raises a lot of questions and suspicion.
Why couldn't I read his mind and... was he on my side? There were multiple possibilities for me to be unable to read his mind.
Two of them being magic and X-gene. He is either using some sort of magic to prevent mind-reading or he has some sort of latent X-gene. Personally, I am leaning towards the latter. But for now… I need to attend this meeting.
Because the man in front of me was one of the main villains of the X-Men, Sebastian Shaw. A genius, multimillionaire, and an Alpha-level mutant.
"Thank you for agreeing to this meeting, Mr. Hanley." He was just as calm and composed as the comics stated him to be.
"We are going to be business partners so it's natural for us to hold a meeting."
I have learned how to deal with rich company owners over the past years.
"So your Shaw Industries want to set up branches in the East… and you want my help with that?" He nodded at my question.
"Hmm… It is possible. I have connections in the east and I am finally deciding to launch the Hanley Industries within the next six months."
It is true. Despite being one of the richest businessmen… I don't have my own corporation. I have a few companies here and there but most of my money comes from the stocks that I bought from the companies in the past.
But now I am planning to connect all those companies under the name of Hanley.
"And I believe once you do that, not even Stark would be your match." His words made me laugh.
Stark? He was already below me. The only reason... the public thought that he was richer than me was because I never had a corporation.
Stark Industries was known as the biggest arms dealer while my companies were miscellaneous… Every company was different from the other.
From fast food to computers, medicines to publications, and even sports.
The moment I combine them… My net worth would skyrocket and my name will without a doubt be at the top.
Microsoft, Apple, Amazon were not yet founded so I was already the richest man. And once these companies are built, I will buy most of the stocks.
S.H.I.E.L.D will be fully functional after a while which will be a great help for my future projects.
"True. But I am not making any deals with weapon companies. I am more focused on the technological side that deals with entertainment." This made Sebastian chuckle.
"I know. That's why I specially requested for your assistance in this project. Howard does not have a very good relationship with the East because of his weapon deals… and it would be foolish to make a deal with him." Ah, yes. I forgot that he was never a fan of the Starks.
"Very well then. Once I establish the Hanley Industries, you will have the deal." This made a massive smile to appear on his face.
"Perfect!"
Shaw was never a bad guy… Ambitious? Yes but Evil? Nope.
Majority of the characters in Marvel were not born evil… But they turned evil because of their situations...
Everything changed with the murder of his father and wife. But because this is a fucked up version of Marvel he was neither married... nor was his father dead.
Charles and Erik were just born a few months ago. This means that none of the famous X-Men members are even born yet…
But Sebastian is already in his 20s… While Emma isn't born yet. This is messed up.
I gave up worrying about this issue a long time ago. Now my current worry is Apocalypse's awakening…
And there are a few others but I don't want to jinx it.
"Now that we have settled this issue… We should talk about the other "thing."
*Sigh* He means the Hellfire Club.
"Very well. Call your father." He nodded and walked towards the door.
After ten minutes or so, he came back with his father. If I remember correctly… His name was Jacob?
"Thank you for agreeing to this meeting, Mr. Hanley." Jacob walked towards me and extended his hand.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Jacob." I said while shaking his hand.
"Ah, you remember my name. That's an honor." He looked a bit shocked.
If not for the fact that you sent me over a few dozen letters and phone calls… I wouldn't have remembered it…
I only remember most of the villains and Heroes from Marvel who had a direct impact on the plot… This guy barely had any impact on the story. A little bit on Sebastian… but not on anybody else.
"I have another meeting to attend. So we should settle this issue before talking further." I was not that interested in the Hellfire club.
All they could provide me were some connections… which I already have and money… Again, I already have it.
But Hellfire will be responsible for most of the future events, So it's best to join them now.
Jacob nods and takes the seat in front of me.
"So, Mr. Hanley. As I said in those letters, I would like to extend an invitation to you on behalf of the White King and White Queen of the Hellfire club. Most people do not know this, but the higher-ranked members of the club get a position within the inner circle. That's the reason, we chose you to be part of the inner circle. My son, Sebastian-" He looks towards Sebastian. "Is part of the inner circle as well. He is the Black Bishop. And after discussing with the White King and Queen, we decided that you will receive the White Bishop rank."
Now that's interesting… Direct entry in the inner circle and the position of the White Bishop? That's definitely not a bad deal.
"Why give the position to me? I heard that Howard was also chosen for the Club membership." This kind of confused me.
He shook his head. "The King and Queen said that he is not worthy to be part of the inner circle." That got me to raise an eyebrow. "He is a genius, a good businessman… but not a good politician. And in the Hellfire Club, we require people who can handle politics."
That is true. Howard is a genius when it comes to science and technology. But when it turns into politics… His brain short-circuits.
Politics made me think of one thing… Should I run for the president?
Nah, too much effort.
"So, Mr. Hanley… Do you accept?"
I didn't reply instantly but instead thought about the pros and cons for a while… And obviously read Jacob's mind.
They wanted me in the club because of my growing wealth, power, and connections. I don't have much to lose if I join the club and it will instead be profitable for the future.
"I accept." I don't have anything to lose… other than my life, which I won't be losing any time soon.
A massive grin appeared on his face. "Glad to have you on our side."

[Miyagi Prefecture, Japan]
The Miyagi Prefecture of Japan was still not as developed as the other places. This place was still under dictatorial rule.
After the war, the Samurais started to guard the area… but it wasn't usually needed as it was quite a peaceful place…
Before today.
Today was a horror show for most of the villagers as a certain mutant was ripping apart the samurais.
The place was covered with blood. The mutant was angry… he was furious.
Seeing the furious clawed mutant, one of the samurais confronted him… with his katana. But unknown to him, the bone-claws of the mutant were sharper than his katana could ever hope to be.
He tried to slash him but the claws of the mutant stopped the sword in mid-air.
"Where. Is. My. Son?" Was his question.
The eyes of the samurai opened wide. "I-I don't know."
*SLASH*
Was the last thing he could say before the Wolverine slashed him in half.
"Don't worry son… Father is coming for you."
With that, he rushed towards the samurais.

[A/N: Holy Sh*t! People are still ongoing about the diary... smh smh...
And this wolverine parts will continue for 3 to 4 chaps.
Joel will be a future important character... so no rush there.
And please... Do not get attached to any characters... I mean in MC's lover sense. This guy doesn't love. He only cares about making a profit from every situation. So even if he hooks up with someone... It will only be a hookup no love... If necessary, he will kill them.
Love will be later... Love is something that is important for his character development and it is also related to his 'past.' So I cannot rush it.
The inspiration came from 12 steps to omnipotence for the power-hungry MC.
And HolyJoker's (He better not sue me) Yami for the manipulation.
And prolly a little bit of Kuro for the woman/women that he will hook up with.
Now... I just took inspiration from them. I can never reach close to those characters... But I will try to improve.
