57 War of the Gods part 1

For two-hundred years, the land of Greece has been in relative peace. There were battles yes, but the stakes were never too large. However, after two-hundred long years, that time of peace has finally come to an end. Tensions with the Shinto gods have reached a boiling point and the Olympians are no longer willing to overlook their foes.

Gathered together in the meeting chambers of Olympus were the twelve gods of Olympus. The mightiest of all the Greek gods.

" The Shinto gods have gotten too close to our home. We must act accordingly. I refuse to allow those bastards to step another foot in Greece." Ares exclaimed. He was perhaps the one most aggravated by the Shinto gods as it was one of his city states that had been invaded.

To his left was the god of the sun, Apollo.

" I agree with Ares, the Shinto have shown us no respect and have trampled over our borders. Them simply showing their faces in our territory is one thing. But to actively attack our civilians is a step to far." Apollo stated. His usually calm demeanor replaced by sheer anger. The sun above blazed in a way it never had before. Only further cementing the anger of the sun god.

Beyond him was his twin sister, Artemis, goddess of the hunt.

" My hunters are ready and have been notified to attack on sight. Should anymore of the Japanese turn to our home, they will be greeted by a volley of arrows." Artemis stated.

" Good, Artemis. Hera, I also want the amazons ready." Zeus stated.

" Of, Course Zeus." Hera replied.

Zeus the father of Olympus and his wife Hera were next.

Beside them was the eldest of the three brothers, Hades.

" It would seem like I need to dust off my bident, once again. If anything, this should be a fun distraction from the underworld." Hades spoke.

" Are you all sure there isn't anything we can do to avoid a confrontation with them? I mean surely there has to be a way." Hestia exclaimed. Out of all the gods present she was the only one who wanted to try and deviate away from war.

" Not this time, Hestia." Athena replied. " They are growing bolder and bolder with each confrontation. If this continues, they will eventually think us weak and try attacking us directly. We cannot sit this out and pretend the problem isn't there. We must devise a plan of attack."

" I just wish, there was something we could do. But... I think you may be right." Hestia replied.

" We should send out troops to test their numbers. See how many enemy forces we're looking at here, right?" Aphrodite asked.

" No." Sitting beside Hades and drinking from his cup was the still recently appointed god of the seas, Poseidon.

" Oh? Well, what do you think we should do Poseidon?" Hades asked.

" Hades... The question we should all be thinking of first, is not how many enemies there are, but how many of our people will we need to protect. Don't you think?" Poseidon told the man.

The gods of Olympus were stunned by this declaration, but not entirely surprised. Poseidon had always been one to defend the people even before he was a god. So, it wasn't surprising that his main focus was protecting the people of Greece.

" Neither matter. The only thing that does is that we put our enemies in their place. And for that--" As Zeus was speaking his plan for the attack, the chambers of the twelve were suddenly entered by one of the messenger god's scouts.

" My lords, urgent news!"

" Speak, Bogard." Hermes demanded.

" There's a massive tidal wave heading towards Athens! The Shinto god Ryujin is leading his men towards the capital of Greece!" Bogard exclaimed.

" WHAT!?" Zeus roared.

The gods were all angered by this revelation. The blatant disrespect and arrogance of the Shinto God.

" We need to stop them. I am going!" Ares declared.

However, before he could get out of his seat, Poseidon stood up from his seat and summoned his Trident and battle armor. He then turned and silently walked out of the meeting room. The sound of his boots tapping against the ground the only noise to be heard.

" Hmph, well it's settled then. He is the god of the seas after all. Let's let Poseidon handle this. The rest of you prepare for war." Zeus ordered his fellow gods. Zeus rose from his seat and summoned his lightning bolt.

The other gods quickly nodded and dispersed to their proper places to begin readying themselves for war.

Storming towards the waters of Olympus, Poseidon headed straight to the front lines.

" Triton! Kymopoleia!" Poseidon called.

Appearing from the sea in front of the sea god on their knees, were Poseidon's two siblings.

" Yes, my lord?"

" Yes, Brother?"

Triton and Kymopoleia both asked at once.

" Triton, prepare Atlantis, for war. Kymopoleia, you as well." Poseidon told the two. " I want all Atlantean soldiers on the Shores of Athens, ready to defend their country."

" Yes, my lord. Is there anything you wish of me?" Triton asked.

" Tell your son, not to let me down." Poseidon spoke. he then stormed into the ocean and disappeared.

The normal peace-loving Poseidon is fully girded out for war. Now stands the God of the seas, storms, and earthquakes.

Traveling towards Athens at speeds no human could ever reach, Poseidon arrived at the shores of the great city just in time to stop the tidal wave.

He raised his hand and tried to stop the water.

The waves slowed down, but the driving power behind the wave, Ryujin, refused to be outdone.

Ryujin pushed against Poseidon to continue with his attack, but he failed to realize how outclassed by the Greek God he really was.

With a flick of his wrist, Poseidon managed to overpower Ryujin and slowly and gently returned the water to the sea.

This angered Ryujin greatly.

Poseidon waited and watched as the God rose from under the waves, dragon scales covering his body. In his hand was a large Bisento.

" So, Poseidon greets me himself? Or his replacement, anyway. What do you think you can do against me welp. You've been a god only for a mere moment. I have been a god for thousands of years. Turn away and cower like the rest of your pathetic pantheon and I might let you live. Fight me and my forces will burn Athens to the ground." Ryujin spoke. The waves started rising again and from under them came hundreds of Ryujin's soldiers.

The Shinto God gloated as his forces continued rising.

However, what he didn't account for was that Poseidon himself, had his own personal army of the deep.

Focusing his mental powers, Poseidon sent a message to all fish life in the Greek seas.

Shadows began rising in around the Shinto forces. Ancient creatures long since thought dead surrounded them on all sides. Sharks far bigger than any great white, Killer whales, Giant squids, and Poseidon's personal beast, the Kraken.

Along with them, was the personal armies of Poseidon. The soldiers of Atlantis, along with their acting king Triton and his son, prince Namor.

The skies darkened and rising from the water in a vortex, was Kymopoleia in all her majestic glory.

The Shinto God Ryujin was beginning to feel regret over jumping the gun, he had been told not to make any unnecessary actions, but in his arrogance, he tried to make a drastic attack on Greece. And now here he stood, surrounded on all sides, by monsters.

" You think this scares me?" He asked. " I am Ryujin, the real god of the sea and you are just a boy who is wet behind the ears still. I'll show you, who the real god here is. Make sure you take this lesson with you, too the grave!!!" Ryujin exclaimed.

He raised his Bisento and charged Poseidon, meanwhile Poseidon simply stared at the man unamused.

Poseidon began whistling nonchalantly. Not even worried about the Gods coming attack. This sign of disrespect only further agitated Ryujin.

Ryujin raised his Bisento and swung it down at Poseidon's head.

However, before he even realized it, Poseidon raised his Trident and drove it straight through Ryujin's chest, piercing his heart and lungs all at once. Blood splattered on the side of Poseidon's face.

Ryujin looked down at Poseidon in shock, he hadn't seen his attack coming, he didn't even see him move, and yet here he sat now, a trident jutting out of his back, staring into the cold eyes of the Greek God Poseidon.

" Trash like you give us Gods a bad name." Those were Poseidon's first and only words to the Shinto god. Poseidon swung his Trident downwards with enough force to completely dislodge Ryujin's body from his trident.

Ryujin continued staring at Poseidon's form in shock, he was no weakling. He was a powerful force among the Shinto Gods. He was the dragon god of the sea. His power over the water had only ever been surpassed by Susanoo, the true god of seas and storms. Never had he imagined that someone out there rivaled Susanoo's power... No more than rivaled. Surpassed it. And now here he sat, completely cut in two, dying and the part that hurt him the most was that he only wanted to prove his worth as a god of the sea, and despite all the years he had been active, he could not see even one of Poseidon's movements.

Poseidon, however, treated the man as a passing thought and instead focused on his troops.

" Kill them." Poseidon ordered.

" TO BATTLE!!!" Triton bellowed. He and his son both charged forward with their forces and the creatures of the depths.

" IMPERIUS REX!!!" Namor declared. The boy was strong like his father and proud. But noble and kind to his people like his mother.

With their leader dead, the Shinto forces were quickly dispatched, mercilessly by the Greek forces of Poseidon. The battle was so one sided that Poseidon no longer had to move a finger.

The Shinto had initiated this battle to show their power over the Greeks and to impose their will. They had not expected one of the big three to come to the battlefield personally. A mistake one of their own paid for dearly.
