25 | Chapter 25: Sokovia - Part I |

| Author's Note: Here we go, hope you guys like it. Also, for every 500 stones we may get, I will release an extra chapter. I know you all can't do it(sarcasm), but that's the goal from now on. Two weekly chapters, and at every 500 stones hit, an extra chapter. Be warned that every time I see we are easily getting goals done, the goal goes up 500, which means that if by the end of this week, we have hit 500 powerstones 2 or 3 times(1000-1500powerstones), the week after that, the goal will be: 1000 powerstones hit, an extra chapter released. Resuming it, every 500 stones we hit, is an extra chapter this week. And it will be like this from now on. Have a good read. |

| Wanda Maximoff Pov / Sokovia, Moments After |

As I made my way through the narrow alley that I knew would take me to a populated street, my heart vibrated with each step I took. The panic and confusion in my mind were clouded by the wish to simply get away from anywhere near that place.

This was madness, I am aware that what I did was risky, but to have possibly killed 3 people, to almost dying myself... needless to say, my head is a mess right now.

As I took hastened steps in the direction of the open street full of people, I looked back in a fast motion, not wanting to believe that 'thing' was following me.

Fortunately, I could not see it anywhere behind me, so I kept going.

My mouth was drying, while my legs were getting heavy and strained from the continuous running. Each step I took, one after the other, resonated within me, as every time I did so, my lungs would burn hot, to bring in oxygen.

"Damn it, this was not supposed to happen.." I muttered with a strained voice, as I reached the bustling street.

As I look left and right, my mind quickly makes mental paths, from which I would be able to take, to get away.

Having decided in these split seconds, I put the hood of my jacket over my head and turned left, walking in between the immense crowd of people present.

Slowly, I regained some sense of security, as I thought that I was finally safe from whoever might have followed me until now.

...

But the more I walked, the more I felt that I was being followed from a distance, and reaching a rather panicked state of mind, I made my way to mine and my brother's place, in hopes he was there to help me.

It was a small and cozy apartment on the outskirts of the capital city of sokovia, in an underpopulated area for more security, since we were both mutants.

...

After walking for around forty minutes, I reached my house, with my hands trembling and my back soaked in sweat.

I entered, noticing the television was on, meaning my brother should be home right now.

"Pietro?" I called out for him, but strangely, I got no response back, and I frowned at that.

Something was not right, because as I looked around the living room, analyzing what I could, all the windows and lights were closed and turned off.

No... don't tell me there's someone inside my house already.

"Who's there?" I almost screamed, as I heard a slow stepping sound approaching me.

From the shadows of the kitchen entrance, appeared... a golden humanoid robot.

"Who are you?" I demanded it, my eyes glowing red and my hands gripping themselves tightly, as my body took a defensive posture.

"The name's Art." The golden robot said in a monotonous voice. "I am here on behalf of my king, to speak with you, Wanda Maximoff." He finished, slowly approaching my position.

My hands went up, protectively, as he kept approaching, a slight red glow around them. "How do you know my name? What do you even want with me?!" I asked him, my voice was strained and dangerous.

It was him, I know it.

I can feel it.

He killed that man, using those golden energy rays.

"As I said, I came here to talk to you miss, on behalf of my king. About how I know your name, let's just say my king knows many things." He told me, motioning me to sit down with him.

My head was a mess, trying to figure out what to do in this situation, but I couldn't think of anything right now. This "thing" was dangerous, so much so that he melted a man right in front of my eyes, I couldn't possibly make him front, not without Pietro.

And so, I slowly sat on one of my couches, my hands trembling slightly less, but yet to stop doing so.

"W-what do you want from me?" I asked him confused and afraid, my voice was low as well.

Faced with my question, the golden robot in front of me tilted his head ever so slightly.

"To talk." He said with a mechanical voice, to which my body involuntarily shuddered. "I thought I had made it clear that I was not an enemy of yours, after saving you?"

No, you have. But who in their right mind would feel comfortable in front of an advanced killing machine?

"You don't believe that I would simply welcome you into my home, do you?" I asked him with gritted teeth, my eyes moving to every possible escape path that I could take. Something he noticed.

"There's no need to think about running away, I am not here to hurt you miss Maximoff." He said, in an unconvincing way.

His glowing eyes dimmed slightly.

"Then say it, what do you want from me?" I asked him, trying to speed up the process and to make him leave my home faster.

"I know of your story miss." He stated, his posture as relaxed as a robot could get, I guess.

"And?" I asked him, knowing by now that he was probably after my mutant powers, as I could not think of anything else.

"And my king has tasked me with your recruitment." He started to explain his reasons. "You are an orphan, your parents killed by war, something Indeed tragic. You have nowhere to go, nowhere to belong to, you are simply wandering this country." I narrowed my eyes at what he was saying, but still said nothing, allowing him to continue his speech.

"What I offer you, is a chance. I saw your actions today as heroic, although you lack control of your powers and are somewhat naive. You have a good heart, darkened by revenge yes, but a good heart nonetheless, miss Maximoff. By listening seriously to my proposal, you could gain everything you have ever wanted in your life." He told me with a certain and charismatic tone.

With a raised eyebrow and a face that showed my disbelief and ridicule at the whole speech, I asked him: "Which is?"

He answered me, seriously, looking me in the eyes.

"Where do I start? A place to call home; a meaningful purpose, as you want to do good; training, in regards to your mutant uncontrolled powers; growth and stability; and most importantly a place where you will have people to care for you, somewhere you can belong, with body and soul." He finished his piece with a low voice, having slowed down his crescendo speech into a sweet whisper.

My face was frozen, as my mind was having difficulty battling my struggling feelings. The sweet words he used, all hit home, I am aware of it. "Even if what you said was true, and I wanted to believe you. Do you think I would?" I asked him in disbelief.

"No, I don't expect you, as an inexperienced human to see behind my words and feel them to be true, but I do believe you can tell that what I have just proposed to you, is something no mutant in the outskirts of the modern world will ever again get." He said, pausing for a second, probably to let me soak it all in. " So I at the very least, expect you to consider it very carefully, as there won't be a second time for this 'invitation', I wouldn't tarnish my king to such an extent." He finished his part, and I stood there, my feelings propelling me to ask more about this proposal, my deepest pits of childhood wishes, buried behind an external, fake personality, were now resurfacing ever so slowly with each passing second, the tiny girl in me wanting to feel wanted and cared for.

"You speak much about this proposal of yours, about a king also, but you have yet to tell me what you would want in return and who this person is..." I told him, to which he just nodded along.

"Indeed, so now that you're considering it, truly, I shall tell you about it all." He stated, looking at me through those yellow and gold eyes of his. "Imagine a kingdom big enough to dwarf this city, an island big enough to house it. That's where you would be going with me, somewhere where magic is abundant, a place where people live happily under one ruler." My interest was picked at that.

"You're telling me a kingdom like that can exist somewhere in this world, in this day and age?" I asked him incredulously.

"Although difficult to imagine, it is the truth." He nodded to my question, following with an answer of his own. "But if you will ever be a part of it, see it with your own eyes, is a whole different question. Be warned though, this small world of yours, miss, is much bigger and much more dangerous than you can imagine." His piercing glowing eyes locked on mine, and I couldn't help myself but ask him. "If that's true, I am certain that you could be doing better things than to try and recruit a random mutant out of the streets of a forsaken country. What do you know about me that I don't?" I asked him, now suspicious yet again.

"Well, I don't." He told me honestly, "But my king does, he sees a potential in you, so great, that trained by him, his grace thinks you would become a great hero, by his side, a great person in both strength and personality, with a bright future right before you. Whether you decide to accept it or not though, that's something my king told me to not try and control. So that's all you have to know about it." I couldn't feel any malicious intent behind his words, and so my mind was racing with numerous possibilities.

Potential? Me?

Why? What do they see that I don't?

Should I consider it? And what about my brother?
