3 The Wager
"Come in!" said a majestic and calm voice, hearing the voice both Daniel and Steve walked into the office side by side, office was a normal military tent with 4 meter radius and a desk with few chairs in the center.
The middle-aged man in a military uniform was sitting in an office chair and it seemed to be the training chief Brent , he wasn't alone In addition a female detective wearing a military officials clothing with a small tight skirt was standing next to the desk holding a bunch of document to her chest.
"stand at ease Soldiers, soldier Daniel how is your health?" asked Chief Brent as he looked coldly at Daniel. Daniel immediately replied: "Reporting sir, my health is fine and can continue training immediately."
"Oh?" exclaimed chief Brent, then he frowned and calmly said: " it has been recently brought to my notice that you have degree in engineering , I have decided to transfer you to military's engineering dept. so, you do not need to attend training go pack your bags you will be reporting at engineering dept tomorrow , truck leaves at 1700 today ."
Steve's face paled hearing this sentence as it is undoubtedly a death sentence of Daniel's career as a soldier.
The female detective said nothing but remained quite as if she wasn't present here in the first place masking her presence with the surroundings as she lowered her head to record something on the document.
Only Daniel's face remained expressionless , as if all this did not concern him and calmly said: "Reporting sir, I insist on staying and continuing training as a soldier."
Chief Brent snorted and said "Training? What training? are you questioning my orders soldier."
" sir no sir , I am just saying if I wanted to join military engineering dept I would have already done so year ago. I want to be a soldier and serve my country sir. " reported Daniel.
" You want be soldier after fainting from the recoil of your rifle , you are lucky I let you transfer to engineering dept considering your parents service. no matter how much will power you have , with your performance today you will only be disgrace to America military. do you understand soldier. " shouted chief Brent.

"you say you want to be a soldier and serve your country , you tell me what qualifications and abilities do you have as a soldier to defend the country?" said chief Brent seeing that Daniel still not backing down , then he glared at both Daniel and Steve apparently questioning both of them for their qualification to be in military.
In the face of chief Brent's question, Daniel took a deep breath and moved forward confidently responding: "sir , Give me a chance sir , I will show the chief my ability and qualifications."
as soon as Daniel entered the chiefs tent he was already in 3 meter range of the chief enough for him to see chiefs cards.
Holy Shit , chief Brent isn't the training chief of the new recruits just for show as he had nine green cards.
[Pistol Mastery], [Rifle Mastery], [Military Auxiliary Equipment Mastery], [Military Boxing Mastery], [Training Soldiers]...
after stepping forward Daniel managed to get into 1 meter range limit of the chief Brent and decided to extract cards before the situation escalates.
"your tone is not small soldier let see how do you plan to show your ability and qualification to American military ?" said chief Brent with a cold smile. according to chief Brent , Daniel said those words because of his self confidence but that's not enough to back what Daniel was proposing because what is the talent of a recruit who stuns himself by the recoil of his rifle first day of training?
The female detective next to the desk also shook her head secretly and her understanding of Daniel was getting worse, it was okay to be self sufficient with your strong will power and self confidence but questioning the order of a well meant high ranking official with nothing to back it did not reflect well on your character.
"sir I am confident about my ability and qualification for the military. how about we make a bet " After seeing the cards of the chief Brent , Daniel gasped secretly but he grew more confident and calmly continued : "If I win, I get to stay in Military camp. If I lose, you get to fire me from military."
"Bet? do You mean to play dice and card with me." Chief Brent looked at Daniel as if he was looking at a idiot.
"Of course not, I want to compare with chief Brent's so called soldier's talent. point out any recruit , solider ,official or yourself for that matter , I will take them on any challenge you propose be it target practice or close combat I will prove to you that I am qualified enough like anyone else in the military base to serve my country.!" Daniel said.
"Enough! Soldier, don't be too arrogant!" Chief Brent stood up from his table and said with a bit of anger: "You are a disgrace as a soldier, questioning superiors orders , resisting superiors orders , challenging your superior , I can have you arrested for any one of the above based on the military regulations !"
Daniel not only did not fear chief Brent's threat but seriously said: "sir , I certainly do not mean to insult you in any way , I am serious and want to show my talent as a soldier."
"You!" seeing Daniel argue back again chief Brent lost his patience and was about to blow up but was interrupted by the female detective on the side as she asked : " Soldier Daniel how do you propose to prove your ability as a soldier"
"like I said before I am ready to take on anyone on any challenge" Daniel replied.
The female detective looked at Daniel as if she was trying to read his thoughts through his facial expressions. Finally, she said, "chief Brent I think every body deserves the benefits of the doubt , i think you could give him a chance." And it reverted back to her original silence.
"what detective here say makes sense , I will go ease on you let you compare with one the new recruits in close combat." said chief Brent after a moment of silence and sat back in his chair and said " challenge takes place during 1700 hrs if you lose you can just get on the truck to your home."
" sir Yes sir" Daniel nodded, everything was going according to his plan and now his attention was on the female detective.
If a female officer can interrupt chief Brent , then the female detective should have some important designations . honestly when Daniel entered chiefs office the female detective was also with in his 3 meter range as she was standing near the chiefs table but he did not think much of her and did not check her cards.
but now her actions changes his opinion on the female detective and preyed into her cards. But next moment, he was stunned .
chief Brent had about thirty cards including both white and Green card of skill and Item cards but the female detective had had about seventy different cards , the cards almost covered her body.
[Psychology Proficiency], [Medical Care Mastery], [Moss Code Mastery], [Assassination Proficiency], [Rifle Mastery], [Ceremony Mastery]...
There are no less than twenty green skill cards! And among them, there is a green card that is darker than the ordinary green card, it stood out dazzling on top of rest of the cards like a dazzling star on top of a Christmas tree.
"Since this is a wager, can you let the detective witness it? It is better to have a proper witness for our wager." Daniel smiled and suggested trying to gain more time to extract some more cards.
It takes more than three minutes to extract a green skill card from the subject and the subject should be with in the range of one meter to begin extracting the cards.
