47 G1's Massacre

A group of soldiers was running in an orderly manner toward the exit. The friction of their boots with the cold metal floor echoed along the empty corridor. Most of the UBCS mercenaries were either dead or fled already. Their mission was a success, although they were met with an unexpected development.

With team Alpha covering the back, Team Delta, aka Wolfpack, was leading them in the front. HUNK was in the middle, holding the heavy briefcase. The alarm was still on along with the flickering red lights, darkening the already somber atmosphere.

Before they reached the intersection on the middle floor, two people were sent toward the command center, by HUNK. Their task was to start NEST's self-destruct system, no evidence or witnesses were allowed to survive. They couldn't do anything with those that already escaped, though.

Dr. Annette Birkin, the wife of William Birkin, was inside the command room, salvaging whatever could be saved. Her eyes moved from the data that was being copied in the computer toward one of the monitors next to her. She saw her dying husband, riddled with holes on his body.

She was holding her tears when William took out a small tube, containing purple liquid. It was the last G-Virus sample he secretly hid inside his inner pocket. She pressed a button near the monitor and said, "Stop. William, what are you doing?"

Her eyes couldn't move away from the monitor as William replied, "they will never take what is mine."

Annette watched in horror as her husband slowly mutated. His body started to get bigger although it wasn't noticeable.

After his skin turning a shade of pale white, his right shoulder started bulking up like a breathing living tumor. The right part of his torso, up until the right arm started to rip and regenerated multiple times until only the shape was left. His white lab coat and gray pants were torn and smeared with his blood.

The now mutated William started to walk out of the camera's vision. Annette switched the view of the camera on the monitor, but in the end, she lost track of it. The G-Virus was incomplete. It will slowly take over its host's body. Except for its super-regenerative cells, there was not much of a difference with the Nemesis Tyrant Europe Umbrella had.

Her train of thoughts was interrupted by the sound of an opening door. Two U.S.S. members that HUNK sent arrived into the control center, aiming their M16 toward Annette. The first man contacted HUNK to report their finding.

"Sir, we found Doctor Annette Birkin. Requesting for further instruction."

Next, a reply came to bring her along without causing any harm. Annette closed her eyes, feeling hopeless. Both her of her husband and her creation were taken away from her. However, instead of an order to come with them, it was the sound of a broken skull and muffled cry that she heard.

Opening her eyes, she saw the mutated William Birkin standing behind the two U.S.S. The bulging right arm crushed one of the man's skull with a simple grip. The second man was next to her and didn't know what happened to his poor colleague. Blood splattered to his mask, blocking his view.

When he turned his head, he saw the lifeless body of his partner with a huge hand holding the neck.

Puook!

William slammed the lifeless body toward the second man. Although he was smashed to the wall and broke his ribs, he was still breathing and tried to raise the M16 strapped on his back.

Bam!

However, with a single slap to the face, William crushed his head and splattered the brains on the wall, not letting him resist.

Shocked and terrified, Annette's knees turned limp as she fell on her butt. The current William still retained some parts of his mind, so when their eyes met, he just left her alone. Walking on the empty corridor, he pulled out a jutting pipe to use as a weapon. He aimed to take back the G-Virus and eliminate everything blocking his way. But what a pity, his mind was deteriorating with every passing second.

Meanwhile, at the same time, HUNK, who lost all contact with two soldiers, tapped the communication device on his shoulder, hoping it was just a malfunction on their side. Knowing that something was wrong, HUNK gave the briefcase to his subordinate on the Alpha team and ordered them to find the exit and wait on the surface.

"What's the matter, team leader?" asked LUPO.

"We lost contact with the self-destruct team. Maybe they were ambushed. Let's go."

He led the Wolfpack to go back toward the Command Center. As the team leader of the Delta team, LUPO had the right to know what was happening, so HUNK just explained it shortly to her.

Once they arrived at the room, they saw the gory scene inside the room. Annette was nowhere to be seen. VECTOR, one of the wolfpack members checked their bodies.

"There's no resistance. They didn't fire any bullets. Have an idea, Boss?" he said.

"There's a high chance that it was a Tyrant. No normal human could do this easily. The body is too clean for a Hunter-type B.O.W.'s attack either." answered HUNK.

"This facility had a Tyrant on their hand? I thought they only develop G-Virus." LUPO asked to HUNK.

"There's one here. But, whenever a Tyrant was mobilized, a warning notifying its deployment would be announced by the security system." HUNK explained. He had visited the NEST several times and knew some secrets they had.

"You guys might want to see this." interrupted FOUREYES, an Asian lady and the brain of the team.

The group moved toward where she stood. There was a monitor in front of them and she replayed the recorded video. It showed William's mutation.

"Nice, we finally got some real action. At least get some wound guys, I can't wait to stitch you all," said BERTHA, with her thick German accent. No one from the Wolfpack commented on her word.

Every single one of them was a psychopath united under a contract. LUPO was picked as the team leader because she was the less insane member of the group.

"No! We're here only for the mission. Focus," said HUNK.

"Ahh, you're no fun, Death," said BELTWAY, the team's tank, while mentioning one of HUNK's titles.

Suddenly, HUNK received a communication from his radio, "We're under attack! Requesting for he—"

Kzzzzz!

The radio ended abruptly.

"Alpha team, report! Anyone! Report!" No matter how many times HUNK yelled, there was no response from the other line. "We're going back! Move!"

At the same time, somewhere else inside NEST, Edward was lost inside the labyrinth-like facility.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Fuck! I've been here before!"

[I told you to turn left, Sir. But you just have to trust your GREAT judgment.] said Regina sarcastically.

"Ahem... It's not my fault, there was no sign showing the way." I said, not admitting that I was wrong.

[*sigh...] Regina was too tired to argue anymore.

Grooooaaaahhhgg!

Suddenly, I heard a roaring noise faraway behind me.

"Did you hear that?"

[It should be 200 meters away from you, Sir.]

"Let's go!"

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Keep firing!" shouted the second in command of the Alpha team. Two of his comrades was already fallen, killed by the monster in front of him. "He's aiming for the briefcase don't let him get cl—"

Pang!

The pipe on William's huge hand smashed his waist before he could finish. William's movement was too fast for the Alpha Team to keep up to.

The team's morale keeps crumbling down but William didn't care. He keeps swinging the pipe, taking the lives of the Alpha team one by one. While it happens, the G-Virus keep regenerating his body to keep up with the piercing bullets. The more it regenerated, the faster William losing his mind.

Broken limbs and severed heads littered the corridors where the struggle ensued. There were two soldiers left, one was laying on the ground, gasping for his dimming life. The other one was holding the briefcase while crawling to move away from William.

"No... Please, no..." No matter what the first man said, he could only helplessly watch while his colleague who holds the briefcase was lifted by his head. William put his strength on his hand and squeezed the man's head. Accompanied by a popping sound, the body flopped on the ground along with the briefcase.

If William saw this, he would have rejoiced, however, there was no more of him left inside his head. The bulging flesh of meat on his shoulder started to rip apart, revealing a massive eyeball. The G-Virus has completely taken William's body, turning into the perfect form of its first phase, the G1.

It moved toward the briefcase and struck it open. Seeing the glowing tube of the virus's vial, it lifted the briefcase on top of its head and started consuming them.

The massive eyeball looked around until it focused on the only soldier left alive on the ground. From one of the wound William got earlier, a small parasite dig it's way out and lunged to the dying soldier. He couldn't move his broken hand to swat the parasite away.

The parasite slithered into his mouth, moving deeper into his brain. The soldier could only produce inaudible noises as his vision fades away with the parasites digging his flesh inside, pain was the least he should ever worry about. The G1 wandered away, looking for a new victim to unravel its seed.

On the ground, several rodents were squeaking while consuming the remaining liquid inside the broken tubes.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Despite rushing as fast as I could, I was too late. All I found in front of me were corpses of fallen soldiers. From their outfit, it seemed to be the U.S.S. soldiers, HUNK's subordinate. It means William already mutated.

The first part of the event was completed without my interference. How could I fix it? I need to find him and kill him as fast as possible. If he evolved any further, it would be harder to fight him.

Suddenly, a squeaking noise interrupted my train of thoughts. I saw a briefcase nearby and rats consuming the liquid inside some broken tubes. Some of the rats even started to eat the corpses on the ground.

"Shit!" I summoned my rifle and started firing at them. I finally knew how the virus got away. It was these rodents. This facility was connected with the nearby Water Treatment Plant. Everything made sense. These rodents would somehow infect the whole city through the water system. The civilians would consume the infected water, and they would slowly mutate into zombies.

While I was focused on ending the lives of these cursed rats, one of the corpses trembled. It suddenly gained the life it lost and raised its heavy body. The pale white hand was moving to grab my shoulder. Slowly, it came closer... and closer...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At the same time, HUNK and the Wolfpack were rushing toward their team. However, before they arrived on the scene, they met him. The mutated Willliam stood on their way, still holding the now dented pipe.

Roooooaaaaaaarrrgghh!

With a deafening roar, William dashed toward them.

"Fire!" shouted HUNK.

All of them raised their weapon. HUNK, BERTHA, and LUPO fired their AR-15. Using the built-in active camouflage of his armor, VECTOR turned invisible and circled William. Once, William, was closer BELTWAY threw a grenade on his path, but it only did so little to the huge William.

VECTOR started his attack using a Desert Eagle and a combat knife. He was looking for William's weakness.

"Fall back! We're taking the East elevator!"

The east elevator was the second elevator that NEST had, which was the one that Wolfpack took to go down at the start of the mission.

Watching the immovable monster in front of them, the Wolfpack also understood how overpowered William was. The regenerating ability of G1 could instantly heal any kind of injury in a matter of seconds.

BELTWAY and VECTOR offered themselves to hold William as they were moving back. While the latter was agile and knowledgeable in close combat, BELTWAY had the best heavy-armor that could take a hit from Tyrant level monster like a champ.

"Aim for the eye! It will paralyze him for a few seconds after a certain amount of damage!" shouted VECTOR. When he aimed for William's head, the monster didn't even flinch, but when he hit the eye, William started to get slower.

BELTWAY took a hit on his stomach from the pipe. Using this chance, he held the pipe slow down William's movement for a bit. William would start staggering after they aimed for the massive eyeball.

The bullets would some time missed its target and hit the pipes on the walls. The bullet would then drilled a hole, and hydrogen gas started to burst out from the small hole. It didn't escape FOUREYES' observation.

Once her team was in a much safer place, away from William's reach, she aimed her gun at the pipes next to him and fired. The shot caused an explosion and William's body was flung several meters away. His entire body was also burning with fire from the explosion.

"Come on! Birkin injected himself with the G-Virus. There's nothing you can do! Get out of here and make a full report to the Management."

HUNK started to command them to run toward the elevator. One by one, they went inside the elevator to escape to the surface. VECTOR went inside last, as he was a bit further from the team. He noticed that HUNK wasn't going to take the elevator.

"Sensei, where are you going?" VECTOR was personally trained by HUNK when he first joined UMBRELLA, he had a huge admiration for his teacher. Never questioning his judgment, but this time, he couldn't help but ask.

"I lost the sample. I'm going back for it."

The door then closed, leaving HUNK alone to deal with the current predicament.

"Out of this place, I was called with a different name, but for now, let me show you why I was called Death among the Umbrella's operative. Let me show you the Perfect Run."
