Colonel Phillips excused Edward and sat down in his quarters, disappointed by the young man's decision. He could tell that Edward was lying or at least wasn't telling the whole truth.

"Regardless of what he didn't say, he did say he didn't want the serum, and I can't force him," Colonel Phillips thought to himself.

Tired and defeated, he laid down and took a nap. Meanwhile, a few hundred yards away, Edward was walking away, feeling slightly conflicted about what he should do in the future. On one hand, he could become a sniper and avoid frontline conflicts, increasing his chances of survival. On the other hand, he wanted to actively fight for his country and put everything on the line like other soldiers, knowing he had the skill to save lives on the battlefield. As he argued over the correct route to take, he walked back to his barracks and saw Steve talking with Agent Carter.

Hesitant to interrupt, Edward walked a bit out of their view and sat down, leaning against the wall of the mess hall, waiting for their conversation to end. While contemplating his situation, he realized that all the people brought into this camp were apparently part of the experiment. This made him wonder if Steve also had some hidden abilities yet to be displayed. Despite not sharing many personality traits with Steve, Edward believed that Steve would benefit the most from the serum due to his character and life experiences. He decided to recommend Steve to Colonel Phillips as his replacement. Edward thought that Steve had less to lose than him by rolling the dice on the serum, and he hoped that Steve would be chosen and that it would work out well for him.

Observing Steve walk past him, heading somewhere, Edward got up and made his way back to the barracks.

"Didn't your mother teach you not to eavesdrop?" Agent Carter grabbed Edward's shoulder, scolding him. Edward turned to meet her eyes and replied, "Agent Carter, ma'am, I was not eavesdropping. I was simply waiting for your conversation to end so as not to interrupt."

"Well, regardless, I needed to talk to you too. Word around camp is you're a good shot. I was wondering if you'd like to join our espionage team for some roofing work," Agent Carter stated.

"Agent Carter, ma'am, I would like to be closer to the main clashes of conflict and actively contribute. I still want to be a sniper, ma'am," Edward responded.

"You can contribute just as much, if not more, on individual missions. And I wasn't really asking, soldier. You're heading out to Brooklyn in a few days. Prepare accordingly," Agent Carter asserted.

"Yes, ma'am," Edward replied.

Agent Carter walked away slowly, a smirk slightly showing on her lips. Edward continued to the barracks, feeling a sense of disappointment. He had been looking forward to traveling all over the world, but now it seemed he would be sent wherever they deemed him most useful. While he understood the need to allocate resources strategically in order to win wars, he couldn't help but feel disappointed.

*A few days later, in Brooklyn - Edward's perspective*

Yawning, Edward realized he had been laying on a rogun pointed towards the entrance, in case of any sudden action. Suddenly, a loud explosion echoed through the area, followed by gunshots and yelling. Edward's senses heightened as he became alarmed by the bomb explosion.

With his gun at the ready, Edward focused his attention on the source of the chaos. A man with black hair rushed out, firing his gun wildly. Edward took aim and managed to hit the man's gun, effectively disarming him partially. But the man quickly reached for another weapon, reloading in the meantime. However, before Edward could take another shot, the man jumped into a car and took cover, avoiding Agent Carter's and Edward's gunfire.

Agent Carter and the man engaged in a dangerous game of chicken. One drove toward the other, while the other continued shooting. Suddenly, a blur of motion pushed Agent Carter out of harm's way just in time. Edward's eyes widened as he recognized Steve, sprinting toward the car with remarkable speed and muscles straining against his t-shirt.

"Huh, I know I've seen that guy before, but I think I would remember someone that fast," Edward whispered to himself, watching Steve in awe.

As the intense situation unfolded before his eyes, Edward observed Steve outmaneuvering the car, causing it to veer off course. Determined to contribute, Edward aimed for the car's back tire but missed, hitting the back window instead. He realized that his inexperience with moving targets, coupled with using a different gun than he had trained with, affected his accuracy at such a distance of about 1200 yards.

Removing the tarp that concealed him, Edward swiftly moved off the roof, taking in the chaotic scene. He spotted a motorcycle nearby, provided for him by the team. Placing his gun in a guitar case, he donned a helmet painted with an American flag and quickly zoomed out of the alleyway.

Edward crossed the street and maneuvered through another alleyway, attempting to cut off the car that he had seen earlier turn left toward the docks. When he arrived at the scene, he noticed the car, its door detached and riddled with bullet holes. It was clear that a fierce battle had taken place.

He abandoned the motorcycle, seeing that it had served its purpose, and proceeded on foot. As he neared the source of the gunfire, he caught sight of a young child being pushed into the water while the man from earlier made his way toward a submarine.

"Big guy, you get the guy, I'll get the kid!" Edward shouted to the man who appeared to be an Olympic athlete.

"Got it, Ed! Didn't expect to see you here," the man replied, somewhat surprised.

Edward, confused but not dwelling on it in the heat of the moment, focused on reaching the edge of the dock to assist the child. However, before he could act, the child yelled out, "I can swim! Why don't you help the other guy?"

Realizing that Steve had already taken care of the man, Edward's attention turned to the unfolding situation. He witnessed Steve emerging from the water, subduing the man with swift moves. Their eyes met briefly, and Edward couldn't help but ask, "Hey, not to interrupt, but have we met before?"

Steve, grateful to see a familiar face, replied with a smile, "I'm just a kid from Brooklyn serving my country."

"No way, STEVE!? Holy shit, man! What the hell are they feeding you? It's only been a few days," Edward exclaimed, relieved to see his friend.

"That's top secret. How about I tell you when this is all over?" Steve responded, a hint of mystery in his voice.

" sounds good. Let's get this settled quickly""

(Hello, I figured this is a good way for him to interact with the story line without changing the overall outcome too much. this way he can be captains back-up from a distance until he gets to captain america levels of strength then he can get in the game when cap leaves.if You like it rate it, if you don't tell me why. author out ✌ )
