6 Up close sniper?

On the 9th day of his deployment, Edward made the decision to move forward, seeking better positions to target sentries and drivers. He understood that war demanded putting his life on the line, and he was willing to take the risk.

Advancing approximately 800 yards from the main conflict, Edward prepared to set up his position. However, as he inserted a clip into his gun, a bullet struck the ground just two feet away from him. Reacting swiftly, he grabbed his weapon and ran low, scanning for the shooter. Sensing danger from his right, he dove to his left, narrowly evading another bullet. Identifying the origin of the bullets, he swiftly adjusted his position and peered through his scope. Catching a glimpse of a red flash, he fired his weapon. The bullet hit the ear of the man he aimed at, causing him to yell but persist in firing at Edward.

Edward dodged another incoming shot and attempted to shoot the man's chest, but the recoil disrupted his aim, resulting in a complete miss. Undeterred, he swiftly reloaded and fired again, grazing the man's arm and forcing him to drop his gun. However, the man quickly picked up another firearm with his free hand and resumed firing wildly in Edward's direction.

Taking cover behind a tree, Edward released the shell from his sniper rifle to load another bullet. However, dirt from bullets hitting around him found its way into the chamber, causing the gun to jam. Frustrated by his unfortunate luck, Edward discarded the sniper rifle and retrieved his handgun, patiently waiting for the firing to cease. After a few tense seconds, he heard a click and promptly leaped up, firing two shots towards the source of the noise. One bullet struck the man's leg, while the other missed. Nevertheless, the subsequent two shots found their mark, hitting the man's head and chest, ending his threat.

Breathing heavily, Edward felt a renewed sense of relief for surviving the encounter. He prepared to retrieve his sniper rifle when he sensed danger once again. Taking cover behind a nearby tree, he cautiously peeked around to identify the source of the threat. To his dismay, he spotted four men—three armed with rifles and one carrying a silver revolver. Reacting swiftly, Edward slowed his breath and retrieved a knife from his waist, mentally preparing for the impending showdown.

Footsteps drew closer, and when they were just a foot away, Edward sprang up and deflected the barrel of a rifle with his knife hand. Simultaneously, he shot the man in the knee and swiftly plunged the knife into his brainstem. Using the lifeless body as a shield, Edward aimed his pistol at the man approaching from the side of the tree and fired three shots—one hitting the neck, another the cheek, and the third the nose.

Witnessing the demise of their comrades, the two remaining enemies opened fire on Edward, who attempted to stack the bodies of the fallen soldiers on the side of the tree. Realizing he had only two bullets left and that the rifles were out of his reach, Edward focused his mind. Inhaling deeply, he summoned all his strength and leaped from behind the tree, shooting two bullets directly into the head of one of the riflemen. He then hurled his handgun at the remaining assailant, causing him to shift his aim and granting Edward an extra second to protect himself.

Returning to cover behind the tree, Edward seized the opportunity to grab the two lifeless bodies propped beside him. Utilizing the corpses as shields, he charged at the remaining man, utilizing their bodies as a barrier. When the man ran out of bullets, he dropped his gun and reached for a grenade. Realizing escape was impossible within the grenade's blast radius, Edward lunged toward the man with the two bodies pressed tightly against him, using them as a shield against the imminent explosion. As he closed in, the man, who still held the grenade, uttered the words, "Hail HYDRA."

Time seemed to slow down as Edward's body collided with the man's, the force of the explosion enveloping them both. The blast sent Edward hurtling backward at incredible speed, his forearms and skin lacerated, and his body battered. Slamming into the tree behind him, his momentum came to an abrupt halt, exacerbating his injuries. Several ribs snapped, and his left forearm fractured, adding to the agony he already endured.

Gradually rising to his feet, disoriented and with his ears ringing, Edward coughed up blood. In the distance, he heard shouts and the sound of gunfire, but his focus remained solely on his legs, which miraculously still functioned despite the rest of his body's condition. Summoning every ounce of willpower, he pushed himself to sprint, fearing that he might collapse if he stopped.

For the next hour and a half, Edward ran with unparalleled determination. Blood continued to flow from his wounds, and the effects of his injuries weighed heavily upon him. The camp grew closer, gunfire whizzing by but missing their target. He disregarded the shouts of fellow soldiers, ignoring everything except his relentless drive to reach the infirmary. With each passing second, he lost more blood, feeling his strength wane.

Finally, he arrived at the camp but refused to halt, fearing the consequences of collapsing. He sprinted toward the infirmary, blood-soaked and weak. The moment he ceased running and stood before the infirmary, his vision faded, and darkness consumed him. Edward crumpled to the ground, succumbing to the extent of his injuries.
