11 Chapter 11

Carol promised to help them find a new home and also deal with the Kree who didn't want to stop even after the other side gave up.

Talos smiled at Carol, grateful for her kindness. But before he could say anything, his face showed complete fear. Carol followed his gaze and saw Goose in Max's hands.

Talos shouted, "Why did you get the Flerkin here?"

The other skrulls were also terrified of Goose and moved away from them. Max said, "I thought even the cat should see space once."

Goose jumped off from Max's hands and started walking around, making the skrulls flinch with every step it took.

Max ignored their reaction and asked, "So, where is this power core?"

Talos turned to his wife, who then walked to a secret shelf in the wall and took out a lunch box. She walked to Talos and handed him the lunch box.

Talos opened it and showed it to them. Inside the lunch box was the energy core, or the tesseract. It shone brightly and the cube radiated a lot of energy, which Max and Carol could feel from up close.

They all got closer to see it properly, and that's when Max secretly zapped Goose's nose with a small amount of electricity. Max made Goose think that he was hurt by the core since the zap came from the cube's direction. Goose flinched and brought out its tentacles out from its mouth. It immediately swallowed the cube that it thought zapped it.

Max acted shocked and immediately dropped Goose. Everyone present there also moved away from Goose. Talos shouted, "What have I been telling you all this time? Flerkins are not fit to keep as pets. Now, how are we going to power this engine?"

Carol said, "I can move the spaceship on my own. So, this shouldn't be a problem."

Max then took Goose in his arms and placed him far from everyone. When no one was looking, he zapped Goose again near its belly to make it think that the cube was zapping it. Goose then puked out the tesseract and Max cleaned it with a cloth. He then hid it inside himself.

He obviously didn't swallow it. Since he could turn his whole body into electricity, he hollowed himself and hid the tesseract. Max was doing all this because he wanted the tesseract, but he didn't want S.H.I.E.L.D. knowing that he had it. S.H.I.E.L.D. was filled with Hydra and he didn't want them coming for him.

Max then returned back to the group and handed Goose to Fury. He said, "Keep it with you. You can monitor him and the energy core will also be safe."

Fury, even though he was reluctant to taking it, he agreed with what Max said. Rather than letting someone keep Goose or leave it alone, it would be better if someone had an eye on it. He slowly approached Goose and said, "I am approaching you now. Don't eat me."

He slowly got closer and took Goose from Max. Monica was playing with a skrull kid and Maria was with Monica to make sure she was safe. Fury was handling Goose and Talos was catching up with his wife and child.

Max walked up to Carol and said, "So, you are flying them to find them a home."

Carol said, "Yeah."

Max said, "Right. You promised them." And said in his head, 'God. Why is this so hard? How is it that idiots in other fanfictions with no prior dating experience suddenly become confident when they reincarnate, while I can't even ask her out on a date even when I have Max's memories and he is married.'

Max then struggled and said in a low voice, "If you can postpone your departure for a week, I can show you around. Earth has changed a lot in the last 10 years."

Even though he said it in a low voice, Carol and Talos heard it. Talos said to Carol, "Carol. My science guy says that the ship hasn't flown in 10 years and requires maintenance. It might take a week."

Max nodded at him and Talos nodded back. They both conveyed what they wanted to say to each other. Carol also understood that Talos was helping them. She turned to Max and said, "That sounds like a wonderful idea."

Everyone was done catching up and the humans decided to return back to earth. Talos stayed with the skrulls on the lab since he had a lot of catching up to do with his wife.

Everyone boarded the modified jet and flew it to return to earth. During the flight, Max saw Fury play with Goose, forgetting what it had just done with the tesseract.

Suddenly, Goose swiped his claws at Fury's eye and Fury screamed in pain, dropping Goose. "Aaarrgghh...."

Max said to himself, 'I like Samuel L Jackson, but it just didn't feel right that Fury didn't have the eye patch.'

Carol said to Fury, "Fury, stop the bleeding. We will perform first aid immediately after we land."

Fury tore off a part from his shirt and covered his eye. They landed as soon as possible and Carol and Maria performed first aid, which they had learnt from their time in Pegasus.

Max said to Fury, "Fury, I think that will be permanent. You should start searching for good eye patches."

Fury said, "Shut that damn mouth. S.H.I.E.L.D. doctors are the absolute experts and they should help me get my eyesight back."

Max said to himself, 'That actually makes sense. He damaged his eye in the 90s. Now that technology has advanced a lot, he might actually get his sight back.'

After Maria and Carol were done with the first aid, Max asked Fury, "So, what are you going to report to your boss?"

Fury turned serious and said, "It's not only to my boss, but the whole council of S.H.I.E.L.D. They all want to hear my report on the alien mess. I plan to report everything, since it all ended well and we didn't break any law."

Max knew that Fury completely trusted S.H.I.E.L.D. and had no idea of the complete Hydra takeover. Max asked, "Shall I come with you to S.H.I.E.L.D.?"

Carol asked, "Why would you volunteer to do paperwork? It is boring."

Carol thought that Max was going to help Fury write the report on the events that occurred. Max said to her, "I also hate paperwork. I just want to tag along to see this ultra secretive agency that protects earth looks like."

Fury thought about it and said to himself, 'He might join us if he sees the work we are doing.'

Max then wondered what Fury's position was in S.H.I.E.L.D. He asked Fury, "What is your position in S.H.I.E.L.D.?"

Fury replied, "I am the Deputy Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. I was told that I had chances to become the Director, but I don't know what strings that bastard pulled, but a random guy named Rick became the Director."

Max then asked, "So, when do we leave?"

Fury replied, "My men should be here to pick us up."

They waited for a few minutes and two SUVs pulled up. Men in black suits got out of the car. A man among them walked to Fury and asked, "Are you fine sir?"

Fury asked, "Coulson, did you get me a cheeseburger as well?"

Coulson replied, "We didn't stop to get food sir."

Fury then said, "Then what took you this long to get your ass here when you were on standby 5 miles from here. Now hurry up and get me to the helicarrier quickly."

Coulson said, "Sorry sir. We got a call from Secretary Pierce and got delayed."

Coulson and a few men escorted Fury to the car. Coulson then looked at Max and said, "You must be Max from Fury's reports. Our secretary would also like to meet you."

Max said, "If he wants to meet me, ask him to get his ass down here."

Fury and the rest were confused, as he had just expressed his interest to follow Fury to the helicarrier. Coulson maintained his professional smile throughout the conversation. He said, "There are also the council of directors who would also like to meet you. They are all highly important people who are at different parts of the world and it would be difficult to get them here."

Max then said, "Tell them that they should have something worth my time to speak. Now let's hurry up. Fury needs to be treated immediately."

Max then walked to the car with Coulson and they left the place. While driving, Fury asked Max, "What was that? You wanted to see the helicarrier."

Max replied, "I just wanted to make it look like I had a little command. I can't let your boss think that I am a pushover and he can order me around."

Fury said, "That's the dumbest shit I have ever heard. Anyways, I don't have the energy or the time to fight with you. I need to get this fixed quickly."

They drove to the nearest air force base and boarded a jet. The jet took off and flew into the sky for a few minutes. The helicarrier was invisible and was visible only when they got close to it. The pilot said, "Permission to land. AT-154."

He then heard someone say in his radio, "Permission granted. Runway 4 clear to land."

The pilot then landed the jet and they were met with two agents. One of them he recognized. Fury introduced her to Max, "Max, meet Maria Hill, my assistant and a level 6 agent."

Maria, who looked like Cobie Smulders, extended her hand for a handshake. Max shook her hand and introduced himself, "Max."

Maria said to Max, "The council and the secretary are all waiting to meet you. This way please."

Fury was taken to the medical facility while Max was escorted through a series of hallways and led to a huge space with multiple men working on computers while there was a clear view of the sky.

Maria said to Max, "This way please." and led him through another series of hallways before they stopped in front of a room. On their way there, Max was constantly touching the walls while his eyes were constantly closed, which Maria missed since she was walking ahead of him and Max was following her.

Max then entered the room and found Alexander Pierce sitting on a chair in front of a huge projection of various world leaders. When Pierce saw Max, he got up and said, "Welcome Max. We were just going through the report Fury submitted and were just discussing about you."

Pierce then offered him a seat and Max sat down. Max then asked, "If Fury reported everything, then I see no reason for this conversation. He must have reported everything that occurred."

One of the women in the video call being projected said, "That's the thing we want to ask about. In the report, he says you took down three soldiers on your own. He also mentioned that you defeated an alien fleet all by yourself, but says that he has no idea how you did it. We would love to hear how you did it."

Max simply said, "No" and there was complete silence in the room. Everyone was shocked and still processing what he just said.

This wasn't the answer they were expecting. They were people with a lot of power and they never heard anyone say no to their face.

Pierce was done processing and said, "Max, we just want to know how you defeated them so that we can have countermeasures ready when those aliens decide to invade earth again. We just want the earth to be safe."

Max said, "I am strong and I defeated them. I don't think you can replicate my power to fight them. You better give up because I am not disclosing anything related to me or my powers. You can either find out yourself or assume whatever you can think of."

A man from the call said, "Max. You should be aware of your surroundings before you say something." openly trying to threaten him.

Max smiled and said, "And you should learn who to mess with. Especially after the disaster with the hospital two years ago."

The man started stuttering and asked, "Wh...wh..what are you talking about?"

Max said, "You know exactly what I am talking about and I know a lot more than you think I know. So, you should be careful what you say next."

Max obviously didn't want to blackmail the council when he walked into the helicarrier, but he overheard their conversation when he started going through the helicarrier. He was sensing the flow of electricity in the helicarrier for information and since all the data in the helicarrier was digital, it worked to his advantage.

Initially, Max wasn't able to process the data from the computers since they were in bits and it needed a lot of computing, that was until today.

In his battle with the Kree fleet, when he travelled at high speeds for the first time, he wasn't able to process information at that speed, until his mind adapted and also increased the speed of processing by increasing the speed of the electric signals inside his head. This enabled him to be able to think 10,000 times his normal thinking capabilities. It did consume a large amount of electricity Max stored.

Max used it to go through the entire S.H.I.E.L.D. database and learn about everything everyone had done.

Max then said, "Before you try to do something stupid and then I do something stupid in anger, I have a deal for you. I will help you for some important missions, which I feel are something that requires my help. You have to pay me for every mission you ask me for help. Other than this, I will live without interfering with your work and you won't interfere in mine. And if you disagree, there will be some shady information leaked to the media."
