38 CHAPTER 38

"Andrew…"

The Outsider smirked as he pulled him up.

Andrew collected himself and pushed the thoughts of death aside.

He still had many things to do.

"How did you call me? I did not visit a shrine or pick any Runes…" Andrew was confused.

"You think I can't call you anytime I want?" He floated in front of him.

Andrew followed him.

"I can use your Mark to call for you whenever I need to talk to you…" He said.

"Why did you bring me here then?"

The Outsider turned to face him.

"You have begun to take the first step… that's why I brought you here…"

"Get familiar with the Void here…"

As he said that he disappeared.

'Is that all…'

But Andrew did not waste the opportunity presented to him. He quickly got to work.

The Void Energy in the Outsider's place was like the air in his world. It was everywhere.

The Void was different here. He attributed that due to the fact that this belongs to the Outsider as this place was his.

He closed his eyes and felt the energy.

A small vortex started to form around him as he increased his proficiency in sensing the Void Energy.

After a while, the vortex became much bigger.

This vortex where the Void is being converged showed the emotions that Andrew had. It was different from what the whole Void here felt.

The Outsider was watching every second of what Andrew was doing. He saw how Andrew questioned the emotions of Void Energy and how he started to get control of the Void Energy using his emotions. But he saw the fault in how he did it. He believed only Rage can manipulate the Void.

He materialized in front of the Vortex and witnessed how the vortex was slowly entering Andrew.

A small smile formed on his face as he saw Andrew absorb the Void in him.

The entire Vortex soon disappeared with Andrew opening his eyes to see the Outsider in front of him.

"What is void to you?"

"Void is a power that I can use to achieve what I want…"

The Outside was disappointed with the answer.

Andrew felt a searing pain in his left hand.

He felt the connection of the void slipping as the Mark slowly disappeared.

The vortex of the void that he had absorbed was gone with it.

A look of shock appeared as he felt himself becoming weak. His Strength and Agility Enhancement that he had were disappearing as well.

He kneeled to the ground as he felt powerless.

"Now can you sense them?" The Outsider asked.

Andrew felt nothing. Even though he knew the Void Energy was here he could not sense them at all. He could feel nothingness and a void that wants to suck everything from him. He was panicking but could do nothing. He soon controlled himself. He knew there would be a day when he loses the Mark.

'I have been complacent of the power given and now that's taken away… I always knew the Outsider can take away what he has given to me… but if I let him control my life like this then I am nothing but just a puppet he can use whenever he wants to… if I am not worthy then I am not worthy if I am then I am…' A resolve formed in his eyes. He did not need this power to do what he wants.

'I am already out… All I need to do now is figure out a way to complete my mission…'

A resolve appeared in his heart and mind and he opened his eyes to look at the Outsider to see him smiling.

There was a smile on the Outsider's face as he saw Andrew. He saw him losing everything and now he did not let that destroy him.

"I ask you again… what is Void to you…" His eyes glowed in black at the end. He could feel the atmosphere changing all around them. The World that was bluish white was becoming dark. He was completely serious and wanted an answer that will satisfy him.

Andrew did not say anything as he thought about what Void was and what did it represent for him.

'Void… something that I have been using without knowing what it is through the Mark… though I know the meaning of the word I don't exactly know the meaning of what the void is… I have never come across a real Void like this… the void in front of me… did The Outsider create it? I don't think so… I feel this is ancient something that has been there and the Outsider might be someone who was bestowed his mark by someone else…'

"You are right… I did not create the Void… We will talk about my life later in the future but what I want you to do now is… to tell me what Void is to you?"

Andrew was in disbelief as The Outsider answered the questions he thought in his mind. He felt completely naked in front of him. This was the first time the Outsider has done something like this.

He wanted to make him stop but can he do that? He is nothing but a kid in front of the being in front of him. He was the God of this world and he is nothing but a mere ant in front of him. He had all the power and can do anything to him.

'Whenever I felt rage the void manifested showing it… but what about the other times? What about when I am with Barton and Natasha, Laura, and the kids? What did it do at that time? It was not there… No… I did not focus on them at that moment… I only focused when I am training and when I am hunting… During all those times the Void did not manifest… or it did and I did not focus to feel it…

Even when I tried to feel Void… I had to control my emotions and depict rage and it got manifested as a black-mist came out that wanted to Destroy and Devour my enemies…

But what if it was already there and I never focused? What if the Void Manifested in a different form? When I am with all of them… I did not need the power and the Void did just that… The Void decided to answer to me in the form of being invisible and not bring harm…'

He then remembered the time when Natasha saw a being that manifested behind him when he saw Zavez and his mother.

'The Void showed itself depicting my rage and hatred… The Void was always there and I did not focus on other moments… I put it to my mind that Void only answers my rage. This was completely wrong of me…

The Void is Everything and nothing at the same time. It becomes everything to me when I am hunting and nothing when I am with people I care about and remains dormant… what if it was always active and was waiting… Every time I use an Ability the void manifests, what if I control that… what if I make Void Everything at all times and is ready to act at any time…'

As he came to the conclusion he was brought out of his thoughts as a searing pain came back to his left arm.

The Mark manifested again. He felt the connection to Void coming back again but stronger than before.

He felt the Strength Enhancement he lost come back… along with the changes in his legs and mind similar to when he felt it during unlocking Agility Enhancement again.

For some reason, he could feel the space distort in front of him and realized it was his Blink.

A small smile appeared on his face.

He used Blink and he could now see how the Void broke space in front of him and made him appear in the position he willed to. The Void made him switch to the position he willed to move. This time he could see how the Void converged through his will and how he intended a position to go and when he willed to move… the space around him distorted to make him feel he just took a step just like the first time he used Blink when he was here.

For the first time, he did not see or feel the Void. He just saw a bluish smoke and thought of it as a pointer but now he understood that it was Void itself that manifested like a bluish smoke. He did not control it the previous time but this time he could. He could now create not one but two or three-pointers as he controlled the void and when he willed, he quickly moved from the 1st point to the 2nd point and the 3rd point within a second.

The Outsider had a smirk when he saw what Andrew was doing. When he saw how Andrew came to a conclusion of what Void is… he approved and was fascinated. For the Outsider, one day he was lying on a cold marble with a knife coming to penetrate him, and the next he was the Void. He could use the void however he wanted and did not need to think about what the Void was. But he had time to come to a definition of what was void to him. The Void chose him as a representational figure and that made him realize what Void was more. He saw how Andrew concluded that the Void answers to his feelings but he has yet to question how the Void does that. The Void is more than what he can comprehend right now. But for now… he is glad that he has taken the first step and completed it.

"I am fascinated by the way how you came to that conclusion. You did try to feel the void through emotions before I called you here and that was the answer I was looking for… I know it gives power but I wanted to know what it is to you and let you come to know what you already know… You thought the Void answered only to your rage that was the fault I saw and I brought you here to make you realize what it is…"

The Outsider looked around for a moment and continued, "You have now taken the first step and completed it… Now, for that, I will be changing a few of your abilities… I can already see through what you did with your Blink that you can Manifest the Void to do your bidding…" He snapped his fingers and the same screen that Andrew sees every day reappeared in front of him.

[Greater Blink, Greater Dark Vision, Domino, Bend Time, Manifest, Void Resurrect, Vortex, Void Walk, Descend.]

Andrew saw many Abilities have been removed and only a few have been retained. Manifest, Barrier, and Void Walk were the new abilities added to him.

Before he could check them, The Outsider spoke.

"Why did you let her live?"
