37 CHAPTER 37

[Shield Headquarters]

"We have found 58 of them in our base right at this moment. We can't take them all out but getting two or three will not cause problems. But we have to be discreet in doing this. We will send them on a mission soon and Phil, and Barton, take a team and intercept them. There will be a temporary Base and take them there. We can start our interrogation there…"

Maria Hill said as she pointed to the screen.

"You do know they have been trained by us and most probably by them as well in all sorts of torture. It is unlikely we will get anything from them…" Barton said.

"That is where this comes to play. The screen changed showing a syringe."

"What is this?" Phil asked.

"A Sleep Dart?" Barton asked remembering the design that Andrew showed.

"No… A Truth Dart. We were able to analyze the compounds and bring in a change to it…" she continued to explain.

Barton was shocked. He did not expect this at all.

"It's not in our Database, right?" asked Phil. He realized this will bring a complete change to the world. He did not want to imagine what will happen if this was known to many.

"No… I created this along with Hill. Only we both know the compounds and composition required." Barton turned to Natasha who spoke. For a second, they communicated with their eyes and Barton relaxed. He did not want Natasha to keep this a secret from Andrew.

"Hill… keep a track of what they are all doing. There should be a location where they meet up or a code word… Find out what it is…" Fury said.

"Ian, you will go along with Maria… Natasha, I want you to check on the other bases we have… I need a report from you by tonight of at least 5 to 6 bases… if any of them is Hydra I want to know about it…"

"Did you check the Council?" Natasha asked.

Fury's face turned to a frown. He went through the council members and what he found was not something he expected.

[Barton's House]

It has been two days since the meeting with Fury.

Andrew has been contemplating whether to accept or not.

He still has not come to an answer.

Barton and Natasha have left yesterday as time was tight.

The atmosphere yesterday was heavy as Barton does not know when he will return.

Hydra, an organization that was said to have been destroyed by Captain America still lives. Damon was a part of it.

He went through the file and realized Damon's history was falsified.

For the last 5 years, all the things he had done were controlled by him.

What he wanted to be out for anyone to know was what everyone knew.

During the time we get break, sometimes he stays with me but the other times he goes out for vacation and it seems every vacation was a mission for him assigned by Hydra.

The report had verified every single detail to the core and saw that Damon was never there on these so-called vacations and pictures could be easily made.

But the words of people and reports have told them all he needed.

He decided to go after Damon first but stopped himself. He wanted Damon to see all the people who are with him to die. He wanted Damon to live in fear every day thinking he will be next. Once everything that Damon cares about is gone… only then will he kill him.

But if Damon stands in front of him right now at this very moment, he will end him without a second thought. He ain't a fool to let him live and ask him to watch all things he loves perish in front of his eyes. He would do that but he knows there will be a chance for him to escape as well and he was not willing to take that chance. If he sees him, he will end him. This was something he etched into his heart and mind.

"Uncle Andrew… Mom has made dinner…" a childish voice sounded.

Andrew who had his eyes closed opened them to see Lila, Barton's daughter.

"Coming…" He said and got up.

He went to the restroom to wash his hands and face.

He went out to see the girl waiting for him.

He smiled and took her in his arms.

"What's for dinner today?"

"Meatballs, Rice, and Chocolate Chip Cookies!!" She had stars in her eyes as she talked.

He then got down and headed to the dining table. He could see Cooper sitting at a chair near the table.

He did not see Scarlet but soon saw her as she was helping Laura carry some plates. She had a smile on her face as she did that.

He went and rubbed her hair which made her smile more. She gave him a small hug and hand signed stating she was going to bring a bowl.

Andrew made Lila comfortable as he made her sit on her special chair. He put a towel on her front as he knew she will spill a lot when she eats.

He then helped Laura and soon started to eat.

The kids were enjoying the dinner. Andrew could see Laura was still sad.

After dinner, the kids went to watch T.V and Andrew was helping Laura in cleaning the dishes and plates.

"He will come soon… Don't worry," he said which made Laura sigh.

"I can't stop worrying now, can I?" She sighed.

"It's just every time he goes… I can't help but think something will happen to him… I just want him to be with us and I know that's selfish but I can't help it…" Laura said as she cried.

Andrew could understand her as he knew Emma would do this sometimes.

Emma talked with Andrew about this many times and he decided to retire after that mission. When he let her know, she was ecstatic. But he did not stop and had to know what he had done and that put an end to everything. Even though his wife supported him, he still can't help blaming himself for what he did. But he knows that was inevitable when Damon uttered those words when he tortured him. He knows one day he would have to fight but he would have had the chance to protect them.

"I am sorry…" Laura said as she saw Andrew reminiscing about his past again due to her words.

"You don't need to be, Laura. What has happened has happened but what is going to happen will be on me… You should also talk to Barton about this if you had not already. He should know what you go through and if you want me to talk to him I will. But it will be best if it comes from you directly…" Andrew said. He placed the plates and cleaned his hands with a towel.

"I will be in the training ground… If you need anything call me…"

Andrew went to the base and Laura joined the kids and watched a movie.

This time he sat down with his legs folded.

For the last two days, he has been trying to feel the Void Energy. He made sure to remember the feeling he got last time and tried to replicate them but he has been failing.

The energy he felt had a feeling of nothingness yet everything as well.

Void was complicated. Void was what he wants it to be. If he wants it to depict his rage it does… if he wants it to depict his desire it does… From this, he realized Void was something that answers to his emotions. Emotions can be controlled but the Void knows that these emotions are falsified and does not answer him. The Abilities he unlocks use Void Energy without him requiring the need to control them… it just happens as he thinks of the abilities name. He did not want that.

He wanted to control it. He remembered the Outsider stating that his body is changing and will slowly adapt to Void Energy. He does not know how long that will take and he wants to control this energy out of his own free will.

'Imagine…'

He thought about the words Damon said. He let those words repeat in his mind. It was painful yet he did it. Rage started to build up in him. This time it was controlled and soon he could feel it.

He could feel the Void Energy.

But before he could grasp it… the world around him started to tremble. Just like the first time he met the Outsider it happened again.

Andrew was startled as he felt free falling… he felt the same energy again and realized the Outsider has called for him.

He could see the same Obsidian Grounds floating. He was nearing one but he was on the side of it and knew he won't land on that one.

He panicked as he passed but before he realized a hand held his left arm.

He looked up to see the Outsider smirking at him.

"Andrew…"

Hi Readers.

I am back. I ask for your forgiveness as I promised to release one chapter every week.

My eye is doing good now though they have asked me to take it slow.

The redness reached its peak 3 days after I released the previous chapter.

I was asked not to look at a screen for close to two weeks. I also figured out what caused me the allergy. Thank God it was not the lights from Laptops or Computers.

I am also working and due to that my screen time is close to 15hrs a day.

That has now decreased to 10hrs.

This Fanfic is not dropped.

I was planning to release my original novel, MMORPG: Revelation Online but put it on hold due to my eye issue.

I am planning to take GRE as I want to do Masters and these novels that I do are to improve my English and thinking skills. So, there will be new words that will be in my fanfic that many might not understand. I will put that in the chapter like the word of the week at the end of it.

So, wish me luck with my GRE.

Now about the release rate, it will be a chapter for every week but that will change in mid-September, I hope so but I can't be sure as it depends on my GRE Results.

If any of you have taken GRE, give me some tips and tricks on how to do Verbal Reasoning and Quants as well.
