CHAPTER 14

A jet could be seen landing down on an unknown island.

The location was surrounded by trees, lakes, a farmhouse, and even a small waterfall in the distance.

The place where the jet was landing was close to where a woman was standing along with two small kids.

One was a small girl in the woman's arm and another was a kid reaching the height of the woman's waist.

"Mama, that's papa, right?" asked the small girl with a sweet and exciting voice.

"Yes, papa is coming home," said the mother.

The boy who was with her was also excited to see his father after a long time and it could be seen from the small number of tears in his eyes.

The mother placed her hand on her son's head and rubbed his hair gently.

The jet landed down soon and the back entrance of it opened.

The entrance revealed 4 of them.

Andrew, Scarlet, Barton, and Natasha were walking down from the reverse order.

The boy rushed towards them and jumped and hugged his father.

"Look at the big boy still crying, hahaha," laughed Barton hugging his son.

"I missed you, dad," he said sobbing in happiness.

The woman and the girl in her arms also reached them.

The woman placed her child down and the child rushed to her fathers in small steps and hugged him as well.

The woman however hugged Andrew.

"I am sorry for what happened to you," she let out a sad sigh.

She still could not believe her savior's family was gone leaving her savior alone.

Natasha who was standing beside them carried Scarlet from Andrew's arm before Laura hugged him.

Andrew did not say anything and hugged her back.

No words were said between them for a minute as the hug alone was enough.

A small gesture can mean a lot of words.

Andrew grew apart from her and said, "Thank you."

He then turned to see the two kids.

"Never thought Cooper would grow in height compared to the last time I saw him and your daughter is looking more like you," he said.

"She might be like me but she is all Barton in nature and that's what I am worried about," she chuckled.

"Come on let's go in, you need rest," before she decided to head back, she saw Scarlet.

"Now who might this beautiful be?" Laura asked.

Scarlet who heard her buried her head in Natasha's shoulder but there was a small smile on her face.

Scarlet turned to look at Andrew and then at Laura.

"Sc… Sca… Scarlet," in a hoarse voice was breaking in between.

When Laura heard the voice, she was shocked and sadness took over her.

Not only her but all of them except the children.

Even Barton, Natasha, and Andrew had not realized this when they were with her for this time.

Andrew then realized the girl never talked all this time.

Scarlet seeing their expressions was scared that they will let go of her.

Laura seeing this took her from Natasha and kissed her forehead gently.

"Scarlet, a beautiful name just like your eyes," Laura said lovingly which made the girl burst into tears.

No one in the last few years has ever said anything like this to her.

All they did was brutally beat her and do inexplicable things she never understood.

All she felt was a pain for all the years she was there until Andrew came and showed her the warmth she missed.

And now hearing the lady who said talked lovingly and even kissed her forehead like the old grandma who does that every day she could not hold back and started to cry.

The two children only then noticed there was a girl who was similar in size to them.

The girl asked, "Papa is that big sister?"

Barton heard his daughter look at Laura who also turned to look at him.

Their eyes spoke and Barton said, "Yes, she is your big sister and Cooper's also," he said.

"Yay, I have a big sister," said the girl.

The boy also was happy to know this and went and hugged Laura.

Andrew seeing this could not help but remember things.

Tears unknowingly dropped down from his eyes.

Natasha went toward him and asked, "Alright?"

He realized he was crying and wiped his tears. He then looked at Natasha and nodded his head.

He then clenched his hands in anger.

"I need to make an untraceable call," he said to Natasha.

Natasha did not answer and gave the phone to Andrew.

Andrew then took a piece of paper he had with him. It had a number on it.

When Andrew let go of Emmett, he had taken his phone with him.

From the phone, he copied Zavez's number and destroyed it later.

In the beginning, he intended to have a conversation with Zavez but held back since they could track his call location and send in Bounty Hunters or Yellow could create a covert operation in taking him down.

But now he did not need to worry about that.

He dialed Zavez's number and it started to ring.

Somewhere in New York in a bar.

The music was all over the place and all of them inside the bar were dancing and grooving to the music.

There were some sofas available near the walls of the bar.

In one of these Sofas was a man discussing a business proposal with two others.

The man's phone which was on the table lit up.

He saw the caller ID to be unknown and thought it was his colleagues.

"Excuse me, I will be back within a minute," he said and took the phone and entered a room.

He answered it.

"Zavez" a cold tone could be heard but the tone had made him shiver.

"It seems you are living a good life," Zavez did not answer.

"You sent a Bounty Hunter to me. I thought you would come but you are a coward since the day you were born, always picking on the weak ones, and if someone is stronger than you, you cower in fear."

Zavez started to sweat.

He knew who it was the moment he heard the voice.

He remembered what Andrew could do when he was on missions with him.

"Andrew… it," before Zavez could complete, he heard Andrew's voice.

"I am coming," the call got cut.

Zavez stood still.

His heartbeat could be heard out by others if they were a meter distance from him.

He quickly dialed a number from his phone and started to run out of the bar.

Barton, Natasha, and Laura felt the temperature drop. The kids started to shiver not knowing what was happening.

Natasha quickly shook Andrew.

Andrew was startled and came to reality as he was in his thoughts.

Everything went back to normal.

They all still had a shiver down their spine which took a moment for them to calm down.

Natasha was the first one to calm down followed by Barton and Laura.

"Take the kids home, we will join you," said Barton.

Laura nodded her head and looked at Andrew.

"I will take Scarlet with me," she said.

"Okay," said Andrew.

When Laura and the kids were in a distance, Natasha spoke, "You have to control your rage, Andrew. I know what happened to you was a tragedy but what is happening right now, your abilities are also being manifested with your rage."

Andrew grew silent as he also does not understand what was happening to him.

He knows that he can only use the powers only when he thinks about this but what happened just now was something he doesn't understand either.

'The Outsider, I have to find a shrine. Till now I was only able to find runes in some different locations but not in the shrine. Maybe if I find a shrine, I will be able to meet him. Only he can answer what is going on with me as no one else can.'

"I will be careful"

Barton spoke, "How did you get this power?"

Andrew hearing this sighed as he knew this question was inevitable. He was also waiting for when they would ask this.

"The prison, I and many more of the inmates were experimented on. One day, when they injected something into me, everything went haywire. I felt different, I felt a power grow in me and rage took over me and I killed all the researchers and the others in the room who were monitoring me. I made sure to delete every record there was in the lab and I used this opportunity to escape from the prison. As I was escaping, I felt foreign information coming to my mind about my power like going distances in just a second and being able to see things through walls for a few seconds. I don't know what it is and how I got it."

Both Barton and Natasha were listening to him seriously.

They both knew what Andrew could do but they did not understand how he could do it. But now Andrew told them what had happened.

The prison that Andrew was put in was known for its experiments.

The world doesn't know anything about this prison.

"I hope you keep this to yourself and not let anyone know about it," said Andrew.

"I promise you I won't talk about this to anyone," Barton said.

"I as well," said Natasha.

"Well, let's not keep them waiting," Barton started to walk.

Andrew and Natasha followed him as well.

As Andrew was walking, he felt the HEARTBEAT increasing.

He stood still and this made all of them also stop walking.

"What's wrong, Andrew?" Barton questioned.

"You guys keep going. I need to clear my mind out," said Andrew.

Natasha who also heard him was confused but then she was able to realize what was going on.

"We will be going first. You go do what you have to do," said Natasha.

Andrew then started to walk in the direction where the heartbeat increased gradually.

"Do you believe him?" asked Barton.

"I don't know, experiments occur in the prison but the data that we had seen was stating they were trying to modify humans. From the way, how he said he deleted all the records and camera footage all I see is he used loopholes to fabricate a story. The powers he got were not from the experiment but through some other way. We can only know that when he believes and trusts us."

Barton sighed listening to Natasha.

"That will take a long time, Nat. We also have to make sure Ian does not divulge any information about Andrew. Though he did not say it this time, I believe in the future he will. If Fury comes to know about this and he goes after Andrew, I fear what Andrew will do then," said Barton.

Natasha was solemn after she heard Barton.

"That's right but I just keep having this thought," said Natasha.

"What is it?" questioned Barton.

"Andrew said the information about his abilities came to his mind and he started to use it. My question is, what if his abilities evolve, what if he gains new information regarding different abilities. What will happen then?"

Barton did not know what to say.

"Let's hope he does not get powers to stop time and bring the dead back to life," he said but he does not know how true his words were.
