27 fighting and killing a giant artic serpent (chapter 27)

Chapter 27

Within the frigid mountains of the Savage Land, where the lifeless forms of gigantic Arctic wolves lay strewn across the snowy terrain, Oliver stood amidst the carcasses. The wolves' pelts had been deftly removed, and Oliver wiped the blood from the blade he now wielded—the new addition to his dragon set. He reveled in the satisfaction of the weapon, particularly impressed by one of its active options.

[ Name: Asgardian Pilgrim Blade ]

[ Grade: Purple ]

[ Description: Crafted from iron ore extracted from the depths of a dark cave, this sword has a unique origin. During the smelting process, a drop of the blood of a red Asgardian dragon fused with the molten metal, creating a weapon with both mystical and formidable properties. The blade was meticulously cast in a sand mold, engraved with the initial [PILGRIM], and expertly shaped to perfection. It offers 55% resistance to magical attacks and 50% extra durability.]

[ Option 1: Return of the Pilgrim (Rank: E) (Active) - Enables the wielder to mentally summon the blade back to their hand at will, facilitating swift and strategic retrieval during combat. ]

[ Option 2: Inferno's Embrace (Rank: E) (Passive) - the longer the wielder holds the blade, the hotter the blade gets, until it melts most things within a 15-feet radius of the user. ]

[ Durability: 100% ]

"Huh, it even took my name. Too bad it's an active skill," he remarked as he disregarded the wolf meat. The idea of consuming the flesh of a carnivorous creature didn't sit well with him. "Well, I'm not using it until I get the full set. For now, I'm content with the Tyrant's Blade and the Spine Bow," which he promptly retrieved. He then continued on his way, dismantling any monsters he encountered. Among them was a giant serpent whose scales he meticulously extracted, taking hours for the task. There was also a menacing mountain goat. "It's safe to say that I hate goats," he grumbled.

This was no ordinary goat—it was large, fierce, with enormous flaming horns. Battling it, Oliver managed to obtain two pairs of burning hides and horns, ideal materials for crafting.

[2 weeks later]

Within a small oasis nestled amidst the snowy landscape, a verdant haven created by some unknown magic, Oliver lay sleeping on a sunbathing chair, clad only in shorts. A clear pond stretched out in front of him. Engaged in a surprising activity, he was sewing a fur coat. Over the years, he had acquired unusual skills, one of them being sewing, and he had developed a knack for finding serene spots to rest after his extended travels and harvesting expeditions.

As he finished sewing the coat, preparing to store it in his shell, he felt a discomfort beneath him. Upon investigation, he discovered the All-Seeing Necklace. Its aura now exuded an even more intense hue of energy. "Right, I upgraded this necklace. I was supposed to upgrade the Elephant Ring too. I should probably do that after the 23 minutes left on the cooldown," he mused, donning the necklace before entering his shell, bringing along all the newly acquired items.

[ Name: All Seeing Eye ]

[ Grade: White ]

[ Description: A mystical necklace crafted from bronze, featuring an All Seeing Eye and an Ouroboros pendant. The intricate design suggests a connection to ancient mysteries. ]

[ Option 1: Enhanced Clairvoyance (Rank: E) (Passive) - Strengthens the wearer's connection to future visions, providing more frequent and detailed glimpses into potential events. ]

[ Option 2: Mystic Insight (Rank: E) (Active) - Allows the wearer to focus the All Seeing Eye's power, gaining temporary insight into specific aspects of their surroundings or a person. ]

[ Durability: 75% (unstable, higher-ranking options won't be accommodated) ]

[7 days later]

Atop a snowy mountain, where tremors reverberated, *ROAR* a deafening roar pierced the air as a giant white snake forcefully slammed its heads into the mountain. A small shadow perched on the serpent, but the collision hurled the figure onto the white snow. A trail of crimson stained the pristine snow, originating from the green fang lodged in the figure's abdomen. The shadowy figure was Oliver, clad in his symbiote suit, wielding a club made from a T-Rex head, radiating an intense hue.

Struggling to his feet, Oliver appeared exhausted and breathless, a testament to his nearly two-hour battle with the colossal serpent.

"Why won't you fucking die?" he yelled, leaping into the air and bringing down the club onto the snake's head. The collision sent shockwaves rippling, and vines sprouted from the snow, wrapping around the serpent and restraining it.

[ Name: Abominable Carnage Conqueror ]

[ Grade: Blue ]

[ Description: This extraordinary club, a relic forged from the fearsome handle of an abominable carnivorous flora entwined with the mighty skull of a T-Rex, radiates an aura of unstoppable power. ]

[ Option 1: Carnivorous Annihilation (Rank: E) (Active) - Unleashes a devastating strike that not only poisons the target but also summons spectral vines to entangle and weaken foes within a radius for 9 minutes, twice a day. ]

[ Option 2: Tyrant's Resilience (Rank: E) (Passive) - Bestows the wielder with the indomitable endurance of the T-Rex, increasing overall durability by 55% and providing partial resistance against magical attacks. ]

[ Durability: 95% ]

Emerging from his shell, Oliver brandished a bone trident, attempting to stab the snake with his augmented strength. However, the snake proved resilient, and Oliver groaned in frustration. The serpent retaliated, sending Oliver flying with its tail, causing him to tumble backward and collide with the side of a mountain. The impact dislodged snow, creating an avalanche that cascaded down the mountain.

The snake observed as the snow settled, leaving behind a trail of smoke. Suddenly, Oliver burst forth, launching himself toward the serpent with the bone trident in hand, shouting defiantly. The serpent, foolishly opening its mouth, exposed its green fangs. Oliver, enveloped in a protective blue shield, reached the snake's mouth. The serpent snapped down swiftly, but the shield prevented full closure, causing the fangs to shatter.

Seizing the opportunity, Oliver unleashed a wave of green primordial energy upon the serpent. The impact left the snake riddled with wounds, spasming on the snowy ground. Oliver, panting heavily, realized he was out of mana. "Fuck, I am all out of mana," he muttered, concluding the battle by finishing off the serpent.

A/N an early chapter, i have my medicinal chemistry exam tomorrow. wish me luck, yes I took time out of my revision time to upload a chapter, (i am addicted), i have my medicinal chemistry exam tomorrow, so i will probably upload tomorrow's chapter late.

PS: you know what i discovered? a solid release schedule is a key to success, (and good grammar, and plot, and getting your borrowed characters' correct personalities, and the flow of the story, the progressions, WOW, writing fanfic is hard)

PS: remember the fang that was stuck on his abdomen, its kinda important.
