4 Never Be The Same Again

"Do you trust them?" Benjamin asked Lucy when they were left alone. They were inside an abandoned building laying on some pretty comfortable beds.

"I can somehow read their minds like open books. They are trustworthy enough, all but Hellie," Lucy said as she looked at the washed up ceiling.

"Why her?"

"Her mouth brings good things and bad things so be careful what you say around her. Bennie is kinda slut so be careful around her too, you might lose your virginity," she joked.

"Wouldn't regret if it ends up that way. By the way, what are your powers?" he suddenly asked. Lucy looked at him for a moment then looked back at the ceiling.

"I think it is called telekinesis, telepathy and something else I haven't quite gotten hold of yet but I can feel it," she answered. Benjamin pondered about that for a moment.

"I'm jealous, you got to stop a plane with your mind while I have to put my back into it," he complained.

"I can't read your mind, though. Everyone else's is like an open book but yours seem like it just a blank," she said.

"Good, sisters are not supposed to get into their brother's minds. Hold on, you can read minds so what about that white haired woman?"

"I felt something blocking her mind from my access. I could have broken through but we were in a hurry. Also, the FBI agents thought we were some kind of mutants and that a government group called Sentinel Services were trying to capture us. Those two guys with powers were sent by them,"

"Just what kind of world did we get ourselves into?" Benjamin questioned as he rubbed his temples. "Do you think mom's gonna be fine?"

"I don't know but she has to be, right?" Lucy asked with uncertainty. Benjamin looked at her then sighed heavily and went into her bed. He hugged her and just then, she started crying her eyes out.

"I brought this on us, I will make sure we get out of it intact," he promised her and planted a kiss on her forehead. This just made Lucy cry more because she had seen the real scene behind the curtain and she wasn't so positive they would come to the other side unscathed! But, she couldn't tell Benjamin that, it would freak him out even more and their chances would become even slimmer.

The following day, they both accompanied Shelly and Sammy as they carried a bag full of small beads and some strings. There was minimal to no conversation at all till they reached the place where the siblings always set up. Shelly took a mat from her bag and lay it on the ground. She then took necklaces made from the beads and lay them on the mat in an orderly manner.

"This is what we do all day, make money by selling these necklaces to people who pity us. Usually, Sammy always sits over there to keep an eye on things and I would just sit and watch people coming by but it is good to have someone to talk to. C'mon Lucy, let the boys go have their talk elsewhere," Shelly said with her bright smile. Lucy nodded at Benjamin who followed Sammy away from the girls as they sat next to a fountain.

"Where are you from?" Shelly asked Lucy who shook her head. "That bad, huh? We ran away from our abusive dad in California."

"You are a long way from home," Lucy said.

"Yeah, but we are young so we can adapt faster. We usually don't get much but we get buy and donate to our daily expenditure, no matter how small we get," Shelly said. Lucy nodded slowly.

"So, tell me, how long has Bennie and Luke been together?" Lucy asked her. Shelly was shocked by the direct question but she suddenly changed her mindset that it was normal to ask that.

"Four months, actually. But, it has been tough four months for us girls. Bennie is overprotective and any girl caught trying to work their girly magic on him will get the short end of her wrath," Shelly said and showed her a scar on her lower left eye. "She did this when she found me and Luke lagging and giggling. Sammy nearly killed her if it wasn't for the others and from then, she hasn't tried to touch me again," Shelly recounted. Lucy looked at Sammy who was talking to another street boy then she turned to look at Benjamin who was looking directly at her. She nodded at him then turned to Shelly.

"Love makes us do weird things for the ones we love," she said as she laid a comforting hand on Shelly's shoulder and just then, Shelly broke out crying.

"It is hard and pretty soon, I will be forced to offer something very precious to me," she said in between sobs. Lucy was about to stop touching her and recoil back in disgust but then steeled her heart and rubbed her back.

"I am sorry to hear that," she said then turned to Benjamin.

'Benny, I was wrong," she said through telepathy. Benjamin looked at her with a pleasant surprise showing on his face.

'How are you doing that? Is that telepathy? Holy, you can talk with anyone in their mind! Do you know how many things we can do with this?' Benjamin asked, excitedly.

'Benny, focus! This group is not what it seems. Looks like my telepathy is not that advanced, it just let's me see the surface thoughts. Shelly is going to be given to a group of guys who will rape her till morning and in exchange, they will leave the group alone. I think I was put here to take her place,' Lucy said. Benjamin was silent for a moment then Lucy saw his face and remembered he always had a short fuse. Benjamin got hold of Sammy's neck and lifted him like he weighed nothing.

"You piece of shit!" he growled then threw him to the road. Sammy was never so scared in his life. He went through the windscreen of a bus and slid all the way to the back as the passengers screamt in terror and the driver slammed on the brakes.

"Sammy!" Shelly shouted and was about to go to him but Lucy got hold of her hand. "Let me go, psycho!" She slapped her hard and Lucy's head whipped to the left. She touched her lip and saw blood. Lucy had forgotten she also had a short fuse and that was how Shelly found herself airborne and into a shop through the window. Lucy quickly came back to her senses and turned to look at her brother. Benjamin had ripped the bus' door off and was about to get in when they both heard sirens. Benjamin turned to look at the coming cops and grunted in unsatisfaction. He got hold of the bus from below then with a grunt, he threw it to the cops who almost peed their pants when they saw the oncoming flying vehicle. They abandoned their cars and it was a wise decision for the bus hit the first car, rolled, squashed the second then lay on the third one.

"Fuck! Mutants, we have a mutant attacking in Downtown," one of the cops said to his radio as he unholstered his weapon and turned to Benjamin who was glaring at them.

"Put your hands over your head, now!" a cop said, his hands shaking a bit. Benjamin's eyes turned white as golden clouds started gathering all over New York.

"You should run," Benjamin warned them as thunder started rumbling but no lightning was being seen. Everyone looked in to the sky in fear as the clouds continued gathering till they touched the tallest building in New York, the Stark Tower. "When a god is angry, mortals die." Lightning so golden they seemed to have been dubbed in gold started falling all over New York, causing deaths and damage that was unprecedented. It was not attracted to metal like normal lightning but was hitting anything in their way. Two bolts hit the overturned bus making it explode and throwing the cops to the ground. Winds going up to two hundred miles an hour started picking and New York was starting to be destroyed as more lightning started falling till it looked like it was raining golden lightning!

Lucy looked at her brother with fear as the phenomenal started increasing. She steeled her heart and ran towards him when she saw him starting to float upwards slowly. Anything in her way was thrown away by her telekinesis as she hurried before he was out of reach. When she reached him, she had to jump a bit and get hold of his left arm. When she did, Benjamin glared at her for a second as clouds above them turned into a swirl as lightning flashed inside so menancingly it was scary to no point but he softened up when he saw it was Lucy. She pulled him back to the ground and hugged him as she started crying.

The weather started receeding slowly since she hugged him till the golden clouds were nowhere to be seen. But the destruction and deaths caused by this one incident was like New York residents fought a losing way with the whole of Russia. Lucy could feel all the negative emotions of everyone and she hugged him tighter as she went even harder. Just then, coloured lights started surrounding both of them as they started floating. The damage on New York started fixing itself one by one as if someone had hit the rewind button.

The more brightly the two shone, the faster the rewind was. Soon, the sun was dimmed as all of New York was covered with lights like auroras only more brighter and soon, all the damages were rewound, then came the impossible feat, the dead started coming back to life! Everyone killed by the storm or because the storm caused something to kill them woke up, their bodies good as new.

When everyone was revived, the lights disappeared and with it the two of them! The sun shone back to New York as if declaring everything was normal once again but everyone knew the world will never be normal again!
