Maria saw ethan unstrapping all the medical devices from his hands. And went to changing room. "Let's go." he said as he came out, He had taken off every bandages blocking his moments other than the arm sling of his left hand.

They reached the other hospital where caroline was admitted. They reached Caroline's room and stood at the door. As ethan was about to open the door, Maria hurriedly tried to stop him. she had just realized how horrible Caroline's condition was right now.

She remembered the first time she had seen her two days ago. it was so bad that she, herself had fallen to the ground in shock, gasping for air as she wanted to deny what was before her.

But before she can stop ethan, It was too late. he had already opened the door and gone inside. So She just went after him.

Even when maria saw her again. She can't help but turn her head to the side.

Caroline had her whole left side burned completely, From her neck to her waist. Her left hand and both of her legs were gone. she was surrounded by a transparent curtain to keep away the wind and dust as she sleep under the heavy dose of morphine.

Maria saw ethan stand near the curtain, Looking at Caroline's sleeping figure. Observing her every injurie, finally stopping his gaze at her face.

Maria was worried about ethans reaction after seeing caroline like that. But when she tried to take a glimpse of his face. He has nothing. He just kept staring at her blankly without hint of any emotion.

After a few minutes, he suddenly turn around And walked passed maria without a word. He opened the door and without looking back, he said in somber voice "notify me when she wakes up." before he left.

He came home instead of going back to his hospital again. A few hours passed since he came home and Alice notified him of Maria's message about caroline walking up. He got ready to leave But before he can leave. He heard ring of his doorbell.

He ignored it, But few moments later, the door opened by itself and behind it were peter and gwen. They had a questioning look on their faces as they came inside. After few seconds of staring Gwen funally asked "why are you not in the hospital."

"they have to call us to inquire. at least fill out all the documents of discharge." peter added.

Ethan just waved his hand and said "i will take care of it." and started to walk toward the exit.

Gwen frown and asked again "hey, where are you going, we came here to meet you... Alice where is he going...??"

Alice replied "he's going to check on miss caroline, she's at the hospital right now."

Hearing that Gwen gasped and asked "are you talking about caroline hills?" she had met her, when she had came to queens to meet ethan. She had even stayed at Gwen's home for a few days. They had became quite a good friend too.

Hearing Alice Gwen say to ethan "i will come too." he just nodded his head and walked out of the door, Followed by Gwen.

Peter had a confused look, as he also followed them. He didn't knew caroline but since they both were going he just followed them along.

On their way, while seating in a taxi Gwen looked at Ethan a few times to find out his reaction to this whole situation, If he needs help. But all she saw was his usual expressionless face. Watching it, she sighed helplessly. She knows he is hurting inside, when he makes that face but knowing how will he react, she said nothing.

After reaching the hospital, ethan found that maria wasn't there yet. so they went ahead and took the elevator. reaching the 4th floor they started to walk toward the carolines room.

But when they reached the room, they found that the door was half open and nurses were running inside in haste. As he moved to looked inside, nurses were doing some emergency treatment on caroline.

Ethan and others watched all of it from outside. They saw Caroline's hand tightly gripping the edge of the bed as they give her few injection but next moment, Caroline's hand lost its grip and fell down.

Seeing her hand fall, Ethan's eyes went wide, as if tge rime had came ti stand still for him. The nurses came out and closed the door of the room. Leaving them outside in shock, For half an hour they all stayed outside the door.

But during that time the scenes of carolines hand falling, replayed in ethans mind again and again making him fear the worst.

And then the doctor came out and as if changing Ethan's fears into reality he said,

"she didn't make it...I'm sorry."

Hearing the doctor's words Ethan's mind went blank. For a moment he didn't move at all, and just stared inside the room. before suddenly turning around to walk away. Watching that Gwen grabbed his hand. But Without even turning to look at her, a sharp voice escape his mouth as he said,

"Get lost."
