24 24. Zoo

Adam continued his experiments with no further results. He sat down reorganising everything he found. Doctor Connor walked upto to him with a cup of coffee.

"How is it?"

Adam stretched his limbs, "Need that last push. What about you?"

Connor said with disappointment, "Same. Can't get it in a stable state."

It's been some time since they started to work together. Adam and Connor followed two different directions hoping to find a solution for their problem. After exchanging their findings on their respective research Adam got up to leave.

Before he left, "Sorry, doctor. You can only go public after you complete the serum otherwise you are just gonna end up as a captive or dead."

Connors smiled bitterly, "I know, I don't mind it. Anyway, thanks for everything."

Adam nodded and left. He wasn't afraid to show his true identity towards Connor. He had already placed several seals inside his mind. He can't give out information willingly and if someone used other methods then the seal will act up and wipe out everything.

Adam was lost in thought, right now he had no clue of the mutant he was looking for. The only thing he can be sure of is where she would appear in the future. Setting his next course of action Adam sped up, he had a date today.

He moved slightly fast and crossed several road sections before reaching the orphanage. His eyes seemed to have dazed off as it caught someone.

A young girl about eighteen was standing right in front of the orphanage. She wore light blue jeans with brown boots and a white shirt. A silver pendent hung on her neck. She looked perfect in every way.

Adam absentmindedly walked across the street nearly becoming road kill.

The sound of cars sliding through the road caught the girls attention. She looked up to see Adam apologize to a car driver and ran towards her. A light smile hung across her face.

Adam's heart rippled when he saw her smile, a sense of serenity filled him seeing that light smile.

Adam smiled, "You look beautiful."

"Thanks."

Elle was slightly bashful hearing his words. Adam felt dozens of eyes on them but he chose to ignore it.

"Let's go."

He held out his palm and Elle naturally took it. She was a bit shorter than Adam but they formed a perfect pair. Many heads were turned as they walked by.

Adam was a handsome young man, well built, pure dark eyes and his wild spiky hair only added charm to him. He provoked that innate desire in woman.

As for Elle, she was a natural beauty. Auburn hair, small nose, beautiful eyes, supple skin and a perfect hour glass figure. Every men couldn't help but feel the urge to protect her.

Both of them walked under the gaze of the crowd and reached their destination,

Central Park Zoo.

Adam had no idea where to go, he didn't really imagine Elle to come out on a date with him. So a simple search on the internet landed him here, the Central Park Zoo.

Elle was looking forward to it. They bought a small map of the place and started to walk around. The place was huge and had a variety of animals.

Adam found the penguins amusing while Elle found the sea lions exciting. He didn't know how to explain but seeing her pure smile a sense of happiness welled up inside him.

Several men tried to start up a conversation with but Adam's calm smile kind of terrified them. Elle laughed lightly seeing Adam's antics but she didn't stop him. This time was theirs and theirs only.

Time slipped past without them knowing. Both of them held each others hands and walked around catching sight of every animal they could. Strangely Elle liked every animal and would spend some time to feed them.

As the Zoo was nearing it's closing time Elle felt slightly down, Adam comforted her by saying that they could come whenever she wanted to, she smiled when once she heard that.

They were about to leave when they heard a woman scream.

"Aaahhh, a kid fell inside the bear cage!!"

Adam's pupils shrunk when he heard it. Both he and Elle ran towards the sound and found a little kid cower near a tree. A large grizzly bear was walking towards her with small steps.

The kid was so scared that she couldn't even cry, her body kept shivering. The onlookers yelled out trying to get the bear's attention so that the zoo workers could get the kid out but it was futile.

A second seemed like an eternity. The bear was just meters away from the kid. The kid's mother was yelling her heart out, if not for her husband holding her down she would have jumped out into the cage.

Adam was prepared to use a shadow clone to save the kid when a strange ripple spread out towards the bear. His eyes went wide, he looked beside him, that strange ripple was flowing out from Elle!!

He watched her closely and spread out his chakra. This was something he came up with to detect his surroundings. Chakra was a combination of the physical and spiritual aspect of a human body, so it should be able to pick up on any and all forms of energy waves.

As soon as he spread out his chakra a soothing sensation was transmitted back. He felt very close to Elle and this shocked him.

This is...

The bear abruptly stopped. It looked over in Elle's direction and walked back before laying down beneath a tree. The Zoo caretakers immediately used the back door and pulled the kid out.The crowd cheered seeing the kid safe and sound.

Elle stopped what she was doing and stood silently. She sensed Adam's gaze and didn't dare to meet it. She hung her head down and waited nervously.

"Elle that...

She feared what he would say next but his next words stunned her.

was awesome!!"
