23 23. Cargo

Adam grinned, "This is interesting."

These words stunned the man in black clothes, a second later anger welled up inside him.

He isn't taking me seriously!

As a seasoned hitman he knew better to not lose his cool during a fight. He steadied his blade and calmed his emotions, the darkness of the night completely covered him.

Hoh... good technique.

Adam watched as his opponent merged into the darkness. It was skillfully executed, evident to the man's experience.

Swish!

Adam slightly stepped back, a cold gleam brushed past his throat, the assassin was stunned. His figure disappeared again, this time he went for the heart.

Adam seems to have grown a pair of eyes behind him, he side stepped and completely avoided a fatal strike. The Assassin pulled back, he put some distance between them and looked at Adam warily.

How is he doing that? It's alright if he dodge once but... he seems to know where I am attacking from!

Adam suddenly spoke.

"Impressive ability, to move short distances instantly. Space ability is way too rare but it seems your ability is only limited to thirty meters."

Those words chilled the hitman's heart. In just a short exchange Adam accurately judged his power and range. He immediately made a decision and decided to run away.

What a joke! He was a hitman not a soldier, he wouldn't risk his neck for that bit of money.

"Now... where are you going?"

Adam silently appeared behind him, the hitman's heart nearly leaped through his chest. He decisively swung his sword only to cut nothing.

Crack!

Along with that sound pain engulfed his body. His hand was broken and his sword slipped out, the pain was enough to kill him. Adam also broke one of his legs and tied him up with steel wires.

Making sure the hitman wouldn't escape he waited for the cargo to arrive. An hour later a ship silently docked near the port, light flashed above it in a special pattern.

Adam understood this to be some sort of code to make sure they were the right people. He didn't wait around and rushed towards the ship. Like a loose arrow his figure cut through the air and reached the port.

He didn't stop, he rocketed towards the ship. His feet produced ripples as he ran above the water. Since it was pitch black the men on the ship didn't notice him.

Adam went up, killed them all and returned. He then made a call to the police and left with that mutant.

Shortly after dozens of police cars and armed vehicles rushed to the port. The ship was fully lit up so they had no trouble finding it. The police officers found dozens of bodies inside and outside the ship, the place was a bloody mess.

Soon they found several large containers and opened it. What greeted their sight was little girls and young woman the age of twenty and below.

The police officers were angered beyond words. They didn't know much about what was happening but one thing was for sure, this was a bloody case of abduction. And that too of young woman and under-age girls.

Some of these officers have daughters and they were the world to them. Seeing these kids reminded them of their daughters and it infuriated them.

Captain George Stacy was an upright, charismatic man and was respected by his men. He immediately made temporary arrangements for these kids and ordered a full sweep of the surroundings.

Even after an hour of searching all they found were bodies, those cars could be tracked down but George doubted whether they would get anything from it.

Meanwhile...

Adam had that mutant on his shoulder, he was walking through a narrow passage way. After about ten minutes or so he reached an earth wall. His right hand formed formed a sign.

"Open."

The earth wall before him trembled and split from the middle. The wall several meters thick and dark brown in colour. A large hall appeared on the other side, it was filled with instruments and glass wares.

Adam walked in. To the side of the hall was a glass room. Several people were inside it, unconscious. He threw the assassin to their group and pasted a paper tag with the character sleep on his forehead. He sticked several more on his body before going out.

He went to the earth wall and did the same hand sign. The wall cracked open and revealed a long corridor.

At the end of the corridor was a well light hall. Connor was sitting in a corner looking at his computer. Hearing footsteps he knew Adam came by.

"Another one?"

Connor asked.

Adam shrugged, "They just keep sending me gifts."

Connor smiled wryly and went back to what he was doing. Adam went to a nearby room and got changed. Wearing gloves he started his work.

Time passed slowly, Adam's eyes were still activated. He observed every change happening within a sample of blood infront of him.

Some expectation rose in his heart but soon he was disappointed. He shook his head and reviewed what he found.

I am now able to increase the serums effect by three folds but stability is an issue. Peter's blood might be able to help Harry overcome his illness but for the future battles it's not enough.

I need another way to increase the serums effect and still retain it's stability. Hmm... if I remember correctly there is a mutant ability that can fully absorb other powers. If I extract that and merge it with the serum... it might be possible.

Guess, I need to visit that place some time soon.

Finishing up he sorted out his desk and said goodbye to Connor.

I need Peter's blood to see how far it effects the serum. But how should I get it? Should I just clobber him and take it? That's not nice?? Oh well, he won't mind a hit or two.
