16 16. Crazy Connors

The next day...

Reporters swarmed the location like locusts. The local police did their best to keep them out but, would they be able to?

This piece of information was what all media reported this entire morning. The heat from it wasn't dying down, a monster had appeared right in the middle of town and caused havoc, luckily no one was injured.

Various speculations rose surrounding the reason for this attack.

"The attacked male was Eric Anderson, an employee of Osborn Industries. It is very likely this incident has ties to their company."

"Information revealed that Osborn Industries was conducting experiments which went wrong creating a monster."

"From what we gathered, Doctor Connor who was the main head of a specific research team has been missing from this morning. It is likely that Connor is this Lizard Monster."

This incident even brought the attention of the military but Osborn wasn't your average Industry where they could casually exert some pressure and gain advantage. Norman had already made preparations, he blocked any more info leak and dealt with everything.

The discussions around the Lizard Monster was still heated but he managed to divert that attention and place it entirely on the danger it brought.

Adam calmly watched the morning news, various thoughts revolved through his mind. He didn't care whether Connor became a monster or not, neither did he care if the research failed as well but what he did care for was his friend Harry.

Unlike his father Harry didn't have a devious heart. He was a playboy but that was it, he just liked to play around with his friends.

'That research was doomed to end as a failure. Peter will take care of the monster, that's also a chance for him to gain battle experience. Right now his Spider strength has just awakened and at most he has about 1 ton of pure strength.'

'That Lizard however is different, it's physical capabilities had been boosted by the serum and went through an explosive growth reaching two to three tons.'

"What are you thinking Adam?"

His mother's voice broke his thoughts.

"Nothing."

"Finish your breakfast and get going. Be careful on your way, alright?"

"Alright."

"Damn Spiderman! Damn Eric! Damn! Damn! Damn!!!!"

A crazy roar echoed through the dark sewers of New York city. After escaping from that near capture Doctor Connor had no choice but to rethink his options.

Initially he just wanted to make sure his research didn't get stolen but now... his mind was getting twisted. From a sane logical person he was turning into a pure wild animal.

"My research is a success! This is the next stage of humanity, stronger physique, immunity towards almost 95 percent disease and infections... what could bring such benefits!?!"

"They don't see the glory of my research. If they can't understand it, then I will make them!"

A crazy idea was forming in his mind. His large build vanished into the darkness, only the sound of water dripping onto the floor echoed.

Peter Parker was troubled as of late. He just started his internship and already the main researcher of his team went missing.

During his fight with the Lizard Peter had figured out it was Doctor Connors. He had just been to the laboratory before the fight and found out the white mouse they used for testing had turned into a mini monster with nothing but rage and a tendency for violence.

He was about to call Doctor Connor when he found a serum missing. The research was confidential and every drop of the serum was documented, for an entire vile to disappear... only one person had that authority.

Piece all that together and finding a monster on the street, it wasn't that hard to identify who it was.

Peter was actually worried for Doctor Connors. He saw how the mouse turned out, if Connor had the same characteristics then it would be equally dangerous for him and the civilians.

"Hey Peter what are you thinking about?"

A delightful voice broke his thoughts.

Peter looked up to see Gwen standing before him with a curious expression. He pushed aside other thoughts and spoke.

"Ooh, it's about Doctor Connors."

"Doctor Connors? I saw the news, hey... do you think..."

She was worried.

As the main lead of the research team, absence of Connor dealt a huge blow. If this monster was Connor then the repercussions would be severe. Gwen and Peter were interns and this could affect their future career as well.

Both of them were on their way to Osborn Industries. The past few days have brought them closer, they would meet up and go to work together.

Just as they were about to cross the road the crowd beside the subway entrance screamed. Few people were pushed out and rolled through the ground. A huge figure jumped out from the entrance landing above a parked car.

The door popped out from pressure. Gwen was standing straight in its path, her face paled seeing the incoming metal door.

Just as she thought everything was over a hand extended from her side and held down the door like it was nothing. Peter immediately retracted his hand after negating the force.

Bang!

The door crashed down with a bang waking up Gwen from her shock. She looked at Peter who was looking at the Lizard Monster while grabbing his backpack.

"Peter you better explain what's going on."

It was only then did Peter realize that Gwen was next to him. He put out an awkward smile and said

"Well it's nothing. Do you know that hero named Spiderman?"

Gwen excitedly said, "Of course, I know him!! He has been super popular lately."

Peter was embarrassed, "Well... That's me."

Gwen blanked out for a second. She then smiled widely.

"That's cool! So that's why you suddenly disappear after school and work. Hey, tell me! What are your powers? How far can you jump? and...

Peter was caught off guard by Gwen's enthusiasm. He stopped her immediately and said

"I say Gwen, can we talk this later. Right now I have to take care of that."

"Oh, ohhh, ok you go do that. You better win! Also, if possible I need to analyse your blood."

Peter nearly spat out blood. He wondered if she was the same gorgeous, genius and charming young lady he met weeks ago.
