5 Selene pt.1

The girl slowly fainted in his arms due to all those terrible wounds all over her body to the point she was dripping blood but not before she pointed towards the window. It was already dark and other than a few drunk inside the bar there weren't many people around but with his heightened senses, he immediately noticed the wolf-like creature crawling out of the window.

"Run," Howard said to Roman as he picked the crossbow from the girl's arm quickly aiming at the thing and shooting it. It was a clear head-shot as the creature wailed and fell down. It was clearly a lucky shot but that creature didn't seem something he could handle normally.

"The fuck is that!" Roman said with his eyes wide open looking at Howard who had the same expression.

"I think there's more to come," Howard said as he looked at the not so drunk men getting out of the bar growling, "And she's out of arrows."

"What do you think we should do?"

"Just run," Howard said as Roman nodded and ran for his life. The man in front of him smirked and waved signaling two of his men to follow Roman.

"Quite brave for a human, aren't you?" The man smirked.

"Human? Let me guess, you're friends with this dog? Creature? Whatever it is?" Howard said letting the girl in his arms down as he picked up the arrows from the creature's head, though he acted tough on the outside his instincts were screaming at him to run away for now, "I am quite curious are you going to turn into one of them? And if so do I need to get a rabies vaccine after this?"

Howard basically was more of a defense type of mutant than an attacking one. For defense, he had everything a good physical body, regeneration, and higher senses. It was the attack portion of being a mutant that he was missing. Normally against humans, he wouldn't be so cautious but he never walked out of the house thinking that this group of monsters would attack him so suddenly.

The man laughed and his lackey's followed soon after, as he signaled one of his men to go forward.

"I think I can kill him with just a punch, any of you want to bet?" The tall dark man came towards him cracking his knuckles, "You've quite the bad luck kid, I've been hungry for days but lucky for me, we captured two humans."

"Don't you mean three?" Howard pointed towards the girl, "Or are you just bad at math?"

The man didn't say much and threw a punch head-on but unlike what he expected the punch was completely blocked.

"You are quite strong but still not enough." Howard mocked as he kicked the guy right between his legs and targeted the arrow towards his head as the man closed his eyes.

The man waited to get impaled but the pain never came instead he heard someone scream behind his back. Turning around he saw his boss screaming in pain with one of his eyes impaled with an arrow while others tried to help him. Howard chuckled as he kicked the man heavily enough to throw his large body towards the group as he hurried to grab the girl keeping her in front of him and rushed away on his bike.

"Don't!" The group wanted to chase the kid but the leader stopped them as he pulled the arrow out of his eyes watching the boy disappear into the dark. "He's not normal."

"Another Death Dealer?"

"No, he doesn't have their scent." The leader shook his head, "He's something else entirely and the force he just used on him isn't normal."

"What do we do then boss?"

"He'll come back." The leader pointed towards the direction where two of his men brought the struggling Roman back, "And if he doesn't we can still track him down."

"Don't tell me you're planning to--"

"We need someone strong. That boy is already that, now all we need to do is turn him. Think about what he can do." The leader smiled, "Lucian would be happy with us and may even be willing to take us back again."

Selene opened her eyes as she looked around. Maybe because of pure instinct, she looked ready to fight even though she was still weak as she noticed the man looking at her with amusement sitting in front of the sunlight.

"Who are you?" She asked frowning,

"How rude." The man who was none other than Howard commented, "But since you're pretty enough, I'll let that slide. I am Howard Smith, just call me Howard. And you are?"

"Selene," Selene answered as she tried to stand up but she noticed she was tied to a metal chain.

"I wouldn't use force if I were you." Howard said as he pointed at the roof, "Pull that chain hard enough and the entire roof will come crashing down. I believe you're in no mood for sunbathing."

"What do you want to do?" Selene asked as she sat back on the bed she was on, "How long was I out?"

"You were out for 2 days." Howard said, "As for what I want to do depends completely on you. So tell me what are you? What were those creatures at the bar?"

"I am a vampire." Selene said straight forward her previously shining blue eyes now hazel, "But I am sure you already know that seeing how you are hiding in the sun. Those creatures at the bar were Lycans and my job is to kill them. That's all you need to know so let me go."

"I see," Howard said as he frowned a little, he already knew of the existence of Vampire in the Marvel world but he didn't expect to meet somebody else. The girl in front of him didn't quite belong to this world but who was he to complain about that. 'Maybe I am in a parallel world of some kind that's completely not just Marvel.'

"How did you know about my weakness?" Selene asked confirming that Howard might not know much about them,

"I took your blood sample and ran a few tests," Howard said letting go of his thoughts, "I had my theories and suspicion. Those dogs like creatures and you carrying a silver arrow and knife gave away a lot of clues but after seeing your teeth and the way your blood reacts to ultraviolet rays I confirmed that I was right."

"You're the first person I've met who is this glad to find about us."

"Of course. Why shouldn't I be? I've always wanted to go hunting for some supernaturals." Howard smiled as he lifted his gun towards Selene, "I call it the Desert Eagle, a semi-automatic pistol that packs quite the punch. And inside it is what I called silver-nitrate bullets. And I still have some silver bullets from that time I tried to kill myself, anyway I am sure this would be a good hunt."

"Is that a gun? Like those rifles?"

"Yup, designed by yours truly." Howard bragged though he had nothing to do with the creation of a Desert Eagle this was still designed from scratch by himself and with the help of few friends he was able to bring the gun to reality quite early on and he was the only one in the world to own that gun. The details on the gun weren't so smooth due to lack of technology but it still packed the same amount of punch, "It should be quite useful against those rabid dogs."

"You seem too insistent on hunting them. What's your purpose?"

"They got my friend who was with me." Howard said with a bit of a weird smile, "Normally I would let my brothers handle this sort of stuff as I don't like getting my hands dirty but this... this is truly interesting. I was prepared to hunt superheroes and villains, maybe even mutants but who would've thought my first adventurous encounter would revolve around a supernatural being."

"Either you're crazy or you're just plain cocky." Selene said shaking her head, "Don't take it as an easy job and be smart. Just let me go and I'll handle it and as a favor for saving me I'll bring your friend back if he's still alive."

"I can make my own decisions, thank you." Howard said rolling his eyes, 'Though I look like a kid and might be a bit childish, I am still more than 80 years old for fuck sake!'

"So you plan on hunting them with this 'Desert Eagle' of yours?"

"It's way better than a crossbow and a silver knife. Previously I wasn't ready but now I am." Howard said, "And I have my own tricks so you don't have to care about me. All you need to tell me is where their base is. From what I figured out they mauled through the bar quite some time ago and now have moved out soon after the incident so I need to know where they are."

So seeing some people still not getting it. I am rewriting the story. Obviously, the first volume I completed is out there and since a lot of people liked it I am not going to change it much.

So I am just correcting some grammatical mistakes I could find, and removing cringy jokes, and replacing them with something that makes more sense. The only major difference would be at the end of the first volume and the second volume will start brand new.

P.S. I will probably complete volume 1 within a couple of days since it's just minor editing. So stick around for volume 2, I guess.
