13 Chapter 13- Cleaning Up The Police Department

Detective George Stacy was getting ready to go home for the night. But he got a call stating it's an emergency. He has to go to a warehouse in Manhattan. In the previous murder location that he has been investigating.

When he reached there he saw five unconscious men bound with a black strap.

George- "Get them out of that, and handcuff them."

The officer on site said- "We cannot get them out easily. Although we can burn it, it dissipates most of the heat to the body underneath. If we try to burn it, these people will be cooked from inside."

George- "What is this material, and who are these people?"

Officer- "It is something like cloth. But super hard."

George- "Ok fine. Let's take them to the precinct first."

In the precinct, they all were put together in a single room. They already woke up. They were all just unconscious from the beating they received. Just basic treatment was enough to wake them up. But they kept their mouth shut. Only one of them looked like who will talk. But he is afraid to talk. Every time they ask him some question he just looks at the other four sideways.

George- "Call them one by one in the interrogation room. I will do the procedure. Start with that one." He pointed at the guy who looked like he will talk.

In the interrogation room.

George- "Now, first tell me your name."

-"My name is Isamar Raul."

George- "Who do you work for?"

Raul- "Nobody. I am just a middle man. I said the same thing to him."

-"To whom?"

-"Batman. The demon. He beat us all up within a minute."

-"Is he the one who dislocated your bones?"

-"Yes. He told me to tell the police everything, or I will receive more punishment. I don't want to meet him again."

After that, he told the police everything he knows about both gangs and the murder of the child.

George was thinking how easy it was. Someone beat them up and he spouts out all the information. He can arrest many people just from the information he received today. But it will take time to get the arrest warrant for all of them. For now, he is going to go home and take a long sleep.

When George reached home his daughter was already asleep. She is the pride of this household.

Helen- "Today you were very late. Anything new or interesting? Or is it classified?"

George- "I was just coming home, we got tips about some gang fight. Had to arrest them and interrogate them. Nothing new.

-"Ok. Now eat your dinner and go to sleep."

-"Yes."

After finishing his dinner George went to bed that is when he noticed an evidence bag on the nightstand.

George- "Helen. Where have you got this?"

Helen- "Huh? I don't know. I haven't seen it before. Where was it?"

-"On the nightstand."

-"Then Gwen may know something. You can ask her in the morning."

George had already noticed the symbol of a bat. He is thinking if there is any connection between this storage device and tonight's Batman.

George connected the device with his computer. What he found on the storage took away all his sleepiness. He knows, today will be another all-nighter.

It took George 5 hours to read all the evidence and crosscheck them. This has really shocked him. More than 30% of cops are corrupted. He has to bring them to justice. He has to get an arrest warrant for all of them. That will be hard.

He knows he doesn't have much time. But he took all the time he could find to take a rest. He has a long day ahead.

The next day, he volunteered to take the evidence to the judge, that he got from questioning Raul last night, to get the arrest warrant. He had to make a deal with him. He will give the warrant for all the corrupted police and he will not notify anyone about this. Not even the police captain. In exchange, George will not investigate the cases where he did not punish the criminals according to law.

George had leverage on the Judge. He easily got the arrest warrants for all the corrupted cops he deemed unworthy. He did not follow all the data he received blindly. He followed his guts. But now another problem came up. Who will arrest them? If they resist, the NYPD does not have enough cops to hold them down. This requires special attention.

Although he does not want to involve the FBI, he had to. He is low on manpower.

The FBI works very efficiently. They completed all the arrests within that day.

The precinct is now empty. Most of the cops are arrested. Rest are out on patrol. Only a few cops and detectives that need to do paperwork are in the precinct right now. George is not happy at all. Many of his friends got arrested today. Although it was justified, it will be a big scandal that is going to be hard to erase. At least now the police department will be clean, and it will also give others in the department a big warning.

The research department reported on the cloth-like material that was used to bind the criminals. Passing high electric shock through them will make the material a size bigger than it originally was. It just has to be above 500 volts. The material can also be cut. But you have to pass electricity through it while cutting to cut it. And it cannot be cut when it is normal, because if you apply force, it will just get harder. There is a limit. It is about 800 kg. After that, the material will break. So using normal force you cannot cut it.

George had never heard of something like this material. He now wants to know, who is it that gave him the information and also captured those goons?

All he has for now is a name. BATMAN…
