91 Chapter 90: Pharaoh's Name

After that little conversation, we descended into silence, and I don't know about Emma, but I could sense a vague awkwardness looming between us; as much as I would like it if Emma really considered me a friend, I was more inclined to believe she didn't. I could hear what transpired in Boston, so I know everything she does, and she knows that which is probably why I rarely hear anything I'd consider bad from her.

However, still, I know Emma isn't necessarily a good person; from what I understand, despite being born into an immensely wealthy family, she had a rough upbringing, and while I didn't know the details, she seemed to detest her deceased Father greatly. Though I know Emma isn't necessarily a bad person either, if anything, I'd categorize her as someone simply trying her best to thrive in this harsh world.

'Haa, I can think about her later; I've got something much more important to deal with.' Thought Pharaoh, shaking his head and focusing on why he came here.

After walking for a little bit longer, we eventually arrived at a heavily reinforced, secured, and guarded door by a pair of large and, as rude as it sounded, idiotic-looking men.

'Tweedle dee and Tweedle dum.' Mused Pharaoh glanced at the two men, who instantly fixed their postures after they spotted Emma.

"Ms. Frost." Stated the two idiotic-looking men respectfully while Emma nodded back.

"Bring the prisoner we recently captured to the beta testing room." Ordered Emma in an authoritative tone as she eyed the two men, who nodded and turned around.

Watching the two men, instead of the door opening by itself, forced it open through brute strength, which caused me to glance at Emma, though I didn't care enough to question it and just stayed silent.

"Come, let's go." Said Emma as she turned around, walking past the path they came down from and heading toward the left instead of the right.

"I'm assuming the beta testing room?" Asked Pharaoh curiously while Emma nodded in response.

After a minute of walking, we passed by two doors with signs that read Gamma testing room and Alpha testing room above the doors, and by common logic, the third one should say beta, and I was correct. When Emma placed her hand against the door, I saw it scan her hand before suddenly opening, revealing a large, white room, which reminded me of the Danger room, just not nearly as big or as cool looking; I also doubted they worked the same considering the Danger room was apparently alien technology.

"How durable is this room?" Asked Pharaoh lightly as he hit his hand against the white wall, though it stood firm.

"Durable enough for nearly all experiments, though I highly doubt it can resist your strength if you wish to damage it." Replied Emma as she entered the room, only to turn around and eye Pharaoh when she heard a loud bang.

"Tougher than steel." Muttered Pharaoh as he removed his hand from the fist imprint on the side of the wall while Emma simply sighed.

Since I had nothing to do until the prisoner arrived, I just sat down while leaning my back against the wall with my eyes closed, thinking of what I'd do when I met my Dad's killer. I had a lot of thoughts running through my head, and everything was of different ways I'd kill him, whether I'd squish his head until it burst or I'd rip out his heart by stabbing my hand through his body like Piccolo.

I sat there in silence for who knows how long, thinking of ways to kill someone, yet when the doors opened, they all vanished as I watched the two idiotic-looking men carry in a man with a spiky, orange-colored mohawk, which was actually his real hair color.

"You two may leave." Said Emma as she had the two drop him on the ground, before turning around and promptly leaving, no questions asked.

Standing up, I approached the mohawk man, who was wearing a collar and large handcuffs that completely covered his arms; he had a tattoo of flames on the side of his face along with an earring; he looked like a gang member, and we all know how my last run-in with a gang member went.

"Is he the one?" Asked Pharaoh as he stood before the unresponsive man and glanced at Emma beside him.

"Yes, I had captured him shortly after he killed your Father." Replied Emma, his words causing Pharaoh to gnash his teeth while the man reacted as he raised his head and looked at Pharaoh.

"Tch, listen bitch, I ain't killed no black man-" Said the mohawk man angrily, though before he could finish speaking, Emma reached into her pocket, retrieved a small remote, and pressed a button.

Seeing the collar shock the man, I frowned and glanced at Emma before snatching the remote out of her hand, causing her to give me a look.

"Until I know for sure he killed my Dad, stop torturing him; I've got no desire to harm an innocent man." Stated Pharaoh as he eyed Emma while holding the remote in his hands.

"Understandable, but he is the one responsible; I've already read his mind and seen it all." Replied Emma with a nod as she placed her hands on her hips and looked at Pharaoh, who tossed the remote back to her.

"I want to know for sure; I'm not going to simply believe your word over something so important, Emma." Said Pharaoh as he squinted his eyes, looking at Emma, who frowned and shook her head.

"Well, then we're stuck in a dilemma; there were no cameras where the crime happened, so the only way to know is to read his mind. You can't do that, but I can, though I can't transfer it to your mind because your mind is protected." Stated Emma lightly while waving her hands in the air and looking at Pharaoh, who clicked his tongue.

"Tch, under normal situations, I wouldn't ever allow it, let alone you; I wouldn't even allow Professor X, but I need to know. Go ahead, enter my mind." Declared Pharaoh with an annoyed expression while grumbling under his breath before caving in, while Emma looked slightly confused.

"Hmph, don't just look at me; I've got a time limit; enter my mind and transfer everything you read from his mind to mine." Added Pharaoh with an ugly expression as he walked to Emma and aggressively grabbed her hand, confusing her even more.

"O-Okay?" Muttered Emma as she extended her telepathy to Pharaoh's mind, yet instead of that impenetrable wall she'd always met with, this time, there was a hole, a small hole, but a hole nonetheless, which she didn't hesitate to enter.

Feeling Emma's mind enter mine made me frown as I knew she was going to snoop around, but there wasn't much I could do about that; thanks to Jean teaching me, I've managed to create gaps in my psionic barrier that protects my mind, and till this day, she's been the only one who has entered my mind as she's the only I'd trust to. However, since I'm no telepath, it was difficult for me to learn, and I didn't have precise control over it like Jean, Professor X, and Emma, so the best I could do was create small holes in my psionic barrier though that was enough.

'Stop stalling for time as you snoop around; show me what happened, or I'm closing the gap.' Said Pharaoh mentally as he spoke to Emma's mind, which was already secretly reading his memories.

'Okay, okay.' Remarked Emma lightly as she began to transfer everything over while also snooping around, finding some interesting things about Pharaoh.

As annoying as it felt to Emma to read me like an open book, there truly wasn't anything in there that I didn't want anyone to know: my alien heritage wasn't too much of a big deal; she was a woman, so I didn't care if she saw the sex memories with Sara and I. That was really about it; there might've been more things, but that was all I could think of off the top of my head; besides, I was already focusing on the memories Emma was transferring.

As I watched the memories flood into my mind like a movie, I saw it all from his perspective; I watched him try to enter the club Dad was working at, only to get shooed off by him since he wasn't appropriately dressed, resulting in him harboring a great deal of anger for Dad as he reluctantly left the club after the two nearly got into a fight.

A few hours passed, with him sitting in a dark alley, only for him to spot Dad walking down it as well, and given the time, he must've just gotten off shift. After a small altercation, the two got into a fight, and Dad was obviously winning; the size difference was significant, though it all changed when the guy's hands took on a bright red glow; once that happened, the fight changed completely. With his hands now as hot as fire, he was easily beating Dad; just a simple touch was burning him.

"Hah, fucker should've let me enter the club; now you're going to die here!" Yelled the mohawk man as he sat atop James while pinning him down by the neck with his hand, which wasn't glowing red.

"Heh, a-am I?" Remarked James said with a slight smile as he watched the man lower his one glowing red hand toward his chest.

"P-Pharaoh!" Said James, his voice resounding throughout the alley, yet even after a few seconds, nothing happened.

"Tch, stop calling for help!" Stated the man, pressing his glowing red hand against James's chest, causing him to grunt in pain as he slowly burned his hand into his body.

"P-Pharaoh." Said James through his grunts of pain, which quickly turned into agonizing screams.

"Haha, burn fucker!" Yelled the man as he burned a hole right through James's chest, his hand reaching the ground below them.

Oh dear, d-did that really happen? Am I reading this correctly, because there is no way James was killed so brutally. Right?
