45 Chapter 44: Immovable Object

Hearing Rogue's explanation, I grinned in excitement as I knew fun that a mutant school wouldn't approve had to be fun, and if not, this place sucked.

"Heh, you know me; I'm all about that fun fun Rogue; lead us there." Stated Pharaoh with a smile as he stood upright, prompting Jean and Rogue to do the same, though only one of them was smiling.

"Hehe, I like the way you think, Tut; I've got a feeling we'll become great friends!" Declared Rogue with a slight chuckle and an enthusiastic smile.

"Weird, I was just about to say the same thing, Rogue." Remarked Pharaoh with a smirk as he and Rogue fist-bumped each other while Jean just blankly watched.

"Forget Eloise; I should be studying both of your relationships." Muttered Jean with a shake of her head as she suspiciously eyed Rogue and Pharaoh.

"C'mon, follow me; since it's your first time here, I'll take you to one of the more calm places." Stated Rogue with a smirk as she grabbed both Jean's and Tut's hands before speedily walking down the hall.

With Rogue leading the way, we quickly headed down the stairs and exited the mansion before heading to the back yard, which had a large maze garden in it; entering the maze, we, or I should say, Rogue navigated through the maze while Jean and I just followed closely, trying not to get separated from her.

"So, what's the places you're taking us to, Rogue?" Asked Tut curiously while following behind Rogue, who knew the maze like the back of her hand, not taking a single wrong turn.

"The place where I'm taking you is underneath the maze, and it's called the immovable object." Replied Rogue with a smile, her words prompting Pharaoh to look at the ground, only to notice a large room full of kids a few feet underground.

"Immoveable object? Why is it called that?" Asked Jean curiously as she tilted her head to the side, but Rogue didn't immediately answer since she took another turn, leading them to a dead end.

"Um, Rogue, this is a dead e-" Said Jean as she watched Rogue walk forward and stomp on the ground, though she instantly quieted down when she saw the ground beneath her feet open up.

"Rogue, you haven't visited in a while; what have you been up to?" Asked an older boy as he poked his head out from the hole in the ground and looked at Rogue, who smiled back.

"Yo, Jarlone, I've been doing great; I've brought you some new people; they both wish to test their might against the immovable object!" Stated Rogue with an eager smile as she pointed toward Jean, who awkwardly waved, and Pharaoh.

"H-Hello Jarlone." Said Jean with a slight smile while Pharaoh just nodded his head as a form a greeting.

"Hmm? I've never seen you two before; you both new?" Asked Jarlone with a raised eyebrow as he looked at Jean and Pharaoh.

"Professor X said they're guests; anyways, I think Tut will be able to move the immovable object; he's super strong!" Stated Rogue with a large smile as she looked at Jarlone provocatively.

"Ho, that's a bold claim, Rogue; you should know it's called the immovable object for a reason; no one's able to move it." Replied Jarlone with a confident smirk despite Rogue's words as he observed Pharaoh, who had just raised his eyebrow.

"I'm willing to bet 200 dollars; he moves it." Said Rogue as she reached into her pocket and pulled out two hundred dollars' worth of cash, causing Jarlone's eyes to widen slightly.

"200 dollars? I see you're betting big, Rogue; alright, then, I'm somewhat interested. Let's get you into the gym, big guy; are you joining as well?" Said Jarlone with a smirk as he took Rogue's money and looked at Pharaoh before glancing at Jean.

"Eh, I don't know; I don't have that good control over my abilities; they just awakened yesterday." Remarked Jean in uncertainty, though Tut ignored her words and pushed her forward.

"Even if you're not joining, you're definitely going to watch as I bench the immovable object for reps." Declared Pharaoh with a smirk while walking behind Jean.

"Confidence, I love that, but that's how everyone sounds when they first arrive." Said Jarlone with a slight smirk as he lowered himself into the hole before moving out of the way, prompting Rogue to jump down.

"After you, Jean." Said Tut with a mischievous grin as he pushed a hesitant Jean into the hole, causing her to scream in fear.

Once Jean got out of the way, I hopped down after them, falling several feet before landing right atop what looked like a water bed; getting out of the bed, I stood beside Rogue and Jean as the two of us observed the underground dirt room.

"Eh, it's rather large; did one of the students make this?" Asked Pharaoh as he looked at Jarlone, who was sealing the hole shut before approaching them.

"Yeap and you're looking at him; I can manipulate dirt, so I'm the perfect person to make an underground hideout. However, I only bothered making it because my friend, Cassidy, suggested making the immovable object." Replied Jarlone as he stood beside Pharaoh and observed his own work before patting Tut's shoulder.

"Alright, strong man, let's see what you can do; see those stones over there. Those are the immovable objects." Added Jarlone with a smile as he pointed towards the numerous stones of varying sizes that several kids were trying to move and pick up.

"So I just have to pick them up, is that all?" Asked Tut with a nod, causing Jarlone to raise an eyebrow, but nonetheless, he nodded.

"Really, all you have to do is move it, but if you pick them up, even better. Wait right here; let me go get those kids off the stones." Said Jarlone as he walked forward while yelling, approaching the stones and kids in the distance.

"So, will you try to lift the stones, Jean?" Asked Pharaoh curiously as he looked at Jean, who frowned before shaking her head.

"Haa, I'd like to, but every time I've used my telekinesis, I've almost always injured someone, so until I can better control it, I'll refrain from using it." Replied Jean with a demoralized sigh, which Rogue completely ignored as she looked at Jean.

"Telekinesis!? That's your mutant ability! So you can move things without actually touching them? Awesome!" Exclaimed Rogue with astonishment as she jumped around Jean while Pharaoh wrapped his arm around her shoulder.

"Heh, that's not the only ability Jean has; she can also read people's minds." Said Pharaoh with a grin, his words prompting Rogue to freeze from shock before jumping with even more vigor and excitement.

"Read people's minds!? So, like Professor X!? Awesome! What am I thinking right now?" Remarked Rogue with widened eyes as she looked at Jean before suddenly calming down and closing her eyes.

'Redpanda's are cute. Redpanda's are cute. Redpanda's are cute.' Thought Rogue repeatedly.

"Eh, I mean, I can read people's minds, but I've got no control over it; the most I can do is turn my power off. Otherwise, I'll be bombarded with everyone's thoughts, and it's not a pleasant feeling to have thousands of voices in your head." Said Jean lightly as she patted Rogue's shoulder, who opened her eyes before nodding.

"Yeah, you're right; I didn't like that feeling either." Replied Rogue, though her words caused Pharaoh to raise an eyebrow in slight surprise.

"Either? You can also read minds, Rogue?" Asked Pharaoh curiously, though Rogue shaking her head only confused him.

"If you can't read minds, then how do you know what that feeling is like, Rogue?" Asked Pharaoh as he eyed Rogue, who, for the first time he'd known her, had lost her lively atmosphere, though before she could say anything, Jarlone returned.

"Alright, big man, you're up; don't disappoint Rogue now; she placed two big ones on you." Stated Jarlone as he went behind Pharaoh and practically pushed him to the stones while the previous kids intently watched.

"I can walk on my own, nigga, damn." Said Pharaoh as he shook Jarlone off him once he arrived, standing before the smallest stone, which was already considered a rather big stone.

"Don't be fooled by their appearance; they're far heavier than you'd expect. Also, just a heads up, but anything goes so long as you can move the stone, and only you did it." Remarked Jarlone as he backed away and started placing bets.

"Come, everyone, place your bets; how far do you think he'll make it!?" Exclaimed Jarlone loudly, prompting most of the kids present to bet.

"He's kinda big for being so young, so I'm betting 50 he'll make it to 5th stone."

"I agree with you on that, but the 5th stone is crazy; that thing weighs like 100,000 pounds or something; the 4th stone is his absolute limit. 60."

"We don't know his mutant abilities, so I'm going safe and betting 60 on the 3rd stone."

"Well, my Dad used to always say, go big or go home; 8th stone, 120! One of these days, I'm going to fucking win!"

"Yo, Jean, have you got any money?" Asked Pharaoh with a smirk as he looked at Jarlone being surrounded before glancing at Jean and Rogue.

"No, I didn't think something like this would occur." Replied Jean with a shake of her head, internally wishing she had brought some cash.

After about another minute, Jarlone finally got all the bets, and the kids returned to their spots; seeing that, I looked at Jarlone, waiting for him to signal me to start.

"Alright, big man, whenever you're ready." Said Jarlone with a large smile while holding nearly two thousand dollars in his hand.
