149 Husband returns

He walked in like the dark night itself, blending into his darkened surrounding.

His black eyes sharp and winged with darker than black -heavy lashes.

Every step purposefully climbing the palatial grand staircase. His gloomy eyes watched the top landing leading to the north wing with great focus, his thoughts somewhere far away .

Two men came out of the shadows to greet him further proving that the silent house was never really asleep.

"Sir" A man offered to carry the steel suitcase from Li Jun's left hand.

Li Jun waved him away.

"Go back to your posts." He ordered and walked towards the carpeted floor leading to his own bedroom.

He turned the nob on the door.

LOCKED.

Li Jun sighed wearily. Yu Yan had a fantastic habit of locking her doors and windows whenever she slept. She had told him that it was a habit she just could not shed from her past. She especially did it when Li Jun was not around the house.

He Knocked. "Honey?!"

No Response.

He knocked a little more loudly this time. "Wife?! Its me. Open up"

SILENCE.

After knocking two more times to no avail he turned to go get the key when he saw his butler gliding towards him swiftly.

"Welcome home sir. We were not expecting you until tomorrow."

The smart butler presented the golden key fitting the bedroom door to Li Jun.

"Hmm.... The snow let up a few hours ago. Go back to sleep" Li Jun accepted the key and ordered. And then turned towards his own door to use the key.

Li Jun entered the room as the butler's footsteps faded away behind him.

He relocked the door behind him. A habit he was beginning to emulate from his cautious wife. He crossed his personal sitting room and headed to the bedroom area.

Yu Yan was asleep like he knew she would be. She must not have heard his voice through the thick walls. He smiled. And because she had always been such a heavy sleeper.

"I am home ,my wife"

Li Jun bent down to kiss Yu Yan's forehead and she flinched immediately due to the sudden cold touch. She did not awaken though, still tucked safely inside the sheets.

Li Jun laughed as he took in her surroundings. Yu Yan actually had a kitchen knife on her bedside table along with her phone . Li Jun's side of the bed was stuffed with a pillow wearing one of his shirts.

Li Jun chuckled impressed.

"You did miss me huh? Didnt you know that I will always protect you even when I am not by your side?Tell me wife,What do you fear when you go to sleep?" Li Jun whispered and placed the knife away to a further table.

Yu Yan woke up in a cold sweats for the fourth time that month. She had had a nightmare again. She turned tiredly towards the window and knew that the sun had not yet fully risen. Her eyes blanked and stared at the window. Li Jun would arrive in the afternoon,that was the only thing she looked forward to.

"Are you okay Yan Yan?" Li Jun called sleepily from beside her.

Yu Yan jumped up in surprise at the voice. She quickly turned towards the sound of her husband's cool voice.

" JUN!" She screamed in surprise and sudden happiness ,her dreary nightmares all but forgotten.

She pounced like a cat and dropped heavily onto her sleepy husband.

He groaned bearing her heaviness.

"When did you arrive? Why didn't you wake me up?" Yu Yan yelled and laughed happily? Showering him with her affection- hugging him.

"I did.You locked me out and You just refused to wake up. The butler had to give me a spare key." Li Jun closed his heavy eyes and wrapped both his arms around Yu Yan pulling her closer to him.

"I missed you soooooooo much"

Yu Yan declared so unlike her usual self.Tearing up a little bit.She was just so happy. She had expected him to arrive only in the afternoon if at all.

"Hmmmmm... " The sleepy man responded snuggling closer to her and taking in the scent from her neck and shoulder.

"I am so glad you came home safe. I was so worried" Yu Yan said again turning towards his face and beginning to rain kisses down all over his face.

Li Jun was too sleepy to open his eyes.A small smile on his face.

When Yu Yan finally calmed down and registered that Li Jun was probably too jet lagged to reciprocate her kisses, she gave a final smack on his lips and entered the sheets to cuddle around her husband.

"Wake me up when you wake up" She whispered.

Li Jun did not answer but pulled her closer to him, trapping her in his vice-like arms.

'Lucky it is the weekend' Yu Yan smiled as she drifted off again to a better sleep.
