13 Chapter 13

It was almost late at night, but at this time Maureen wasn't asleep, and was pensive in Sophie's apartment room. As for Sophie, she has been asleep since 1 hour ago.

Now, Maureen is reminded of her parents, and misses them. In fact, she feels life without them is not easy. In addition, she also felt that no one was protecting her anymore, like her parents had done. She felt like she was unable, to go on with her life alone.

"Mother, father, I miss you so much" she said to herself, with her head bowed, "If only, time could be repeated, or I was given one wish, then I would ask never to become an adult. Because being an adult is so hard, and also difficult, I prefer to be a child, who only spent the time with playing, and don't have to think about anything else" she continued.

But suddenly, she remembered the incident earlier this afternoon, when she and Sophie were almost crash by a car. Remembering that, made her immediately raise her head, and look ahead.

"Does the incident this afternoon, have anything to do with the incident a few days ago I experienced? And whether, the car that almost crash us, is the car belonging to a mysterious man, who wanted to kill me?" she muttered, starting to wonder herself.

"But I think that's impossible, because if the car really belongs to that guy, that means he's been following me since that night," she said to herself.

"Maureen"

She immediately woke up from her reverie, when she heard the voice. And she could see, Sophie, who was awake, and was looking at her from the side.

"Why haven't you slept yet?" asked Maureen, frowning, and getting up from her position, and sat down beside Maureen.

A smile had to be carved by Maureen, then she shook her head, and turned her gaze forward, "I can't sleep" she replied.

"Why is it like that? Are you hungry?" Sophie asked again, looking at her coworker from the side, and frowning again, "If you're hungry, then I'll make something for you," she continued.

Immediately Maureen shook her head, and turned to face Sophie, "No need, because I don't feel hungry," she said, smiling faintly.

"Then why can't you fall asleep? Do you miss your house?" Sophie asked, rubbing Maureen's shoulder.

"I'm missing my parents," Maureen replied, bowing her head and smiling wryly.

Hearing what Maureen just said, made Sophie feel sorry for her friend, "I know how you feel, Maureen. You must be feeling sad" she said, and Maureen just nodded, "Then, on Saturday, you should go to their grave, and I will accompany you" she continued.

Maureen immediately lifted her head, and turned to face Sophie, after hearing what she had just said, "Really? You want to accompany me to their grave?" she asked, with a smile etched on her face.

A smile began to etch on Sophie's face, then she nodded her head, and said, "Yes, I'll be accompany you".

With a smile still etched on her face, Maureen immediately hugged her friend, and said, "Thank you Sophie, you are so kind."

"You're welcome, Maureen," Sophie replied, nodding her head, and hugging her coworker back, "Then, we'd better sleep now, so we're not late tomorrow. Because if we're late, we'll be scolded by Mr. Arthur," she continued.

Immediately Maureen let go of her hug, and nodded her head, "Fine," she replied, smiling.

But Sophie just smiled. And then, they immediately lay down on the bed, and closed their eyes.

.........

"So, today you want to return to your house?" Sophie asked, turning her head towards Maureen, who was walking beside her.

Earlier, Maureen told Sophie that today she will not stay in her apartment anymore, because she wants to return to her house. Because, she felt bad if she stayed too long in Sophie's apartment, even though her friend didn't feel trouble by her at all.

"Yes, I want to return to my house, because I miss my house," Maureen replied, nodding with her head lowered.

"But won't you feel afraid, if that criminal comes to your house again, and tries to kill you again?" Sophie asked again, as she continued walking.

Hearing what Sophie had just said, made Maureen silent, and didn't say nothing. In fact, she was still afraid, if the mysterious man came again, and would try to kill her again, "I don't think so, because I'm sure the criminal won't come again. Besides, I can take care of myself, or I can ask the people for help who are near my house," she replied, smiling, and turned to look at Sophie.

With a little heavy, Sophie sighed, and lowered her head, "Actually, I disagree, with your wish, for being so afraid that something bad might happen to you," she said.

A smile returned to Maureen's face, after she heard what Sophie had just said. Then she grabbed her friend's shoulder, and said, "You don't worry, because I'll be fine."

Slowly, Sophie lifted her head, and turned to look at Maureen, "All right, but tomorrow we'll be visiting your parents' grave, right?" she asked.

With a smile still etched on her face, Maureen nodded her head, and said, "Of course, because I miss them so much. And it's been a while, I haven't been there. So I thought, tomorrow is the perfect time, to visit their graves, because I'm sure that they will miss me too".

"Okay, then tomorrow I'll pick you up to your house, and we'll be go there together" Sophie said, nodding her head, "But you don't forget to tell me, what time do you want to gi there. And, don't you go before I come either." she continued.

Maureen immediately chuckled, and nodded her head, after hearing what Sophie had just said. Then she hugged her coworker's shoulder, and said, "Of course, I will definitely tell you, what time I will go there. And I promise to you, that I will not go before you come."

"Then tomorrow I will bring your clothes as well, which are still in my apartment," Sophie said, nodding her head, and looking away.

"No need, after this I'll take it, so you don't have to carry it," said Maureen, shaking her head, and turning towards Sophie.

A smile began to etch on Sophie's face, then she turned to Maureen, and said, "It's okay, tomorrow I'll bring it, so you don't have to take it".

Not wanting to argue with her friend, Maureen nodded and lowered her head, "Very well, then thank you," she said.
